That's great. And that's how it should be. It's very risky, so it's important to check out if people are serious about it. I knew a guy, he was 180kg. That's around 400 pounds. He didn't need surgery, he just walked. 100% Forrest Gump style. Within 10 months, he lost around 80kg. So over 180 pounds. Walked a marathon per day. Totally insane, but he just did it 🤷‍♂️
He is aiming for 90kg, so 200 pounds, but with a lot of muscle mass. Totally crazy what can happen in just a year 🤷‍♂️

To get rid of the debuff you must lower your potion intake for a long time while playing the game. Please please PLEASE. DO NOT go in some crazy diet and do crazy gym work outs. You don’t even need to. You probably just have not been living normally your whole life. Just living normally makes weight fall off since the body is great at it. Just CHANGE WHAT YOU EAT and walk EVERY DAY for a significant amount of time. You can eat a significant amount. Just eat whole Foods. Like if your going to eat chicken, make it baked chicken breast. If your going to eat potato, make it sweet potato. I have a completely 2 minute dark whole wheat flour chocolate mug cake I’ll make every day sweeter with two TBL of honey. The difference is it’s NATURAL. People would be blown away that it’s basically not even a dessert. Eating natural foods and just walk for a significant amount of time regularly and your body will click into place. REMEMBER. Your body is NOT a furnace. It’s a LAB. The correct ingredients form a key that unlock the metabolism which is a door. NOT by beating that door into submission.

If you have loved ones past their fifties stage an intervention before it is too late. It is *very hard* to lose weight when you're obese at 60-70 years old. Fat shaming is the number one reason why fat people don't dare to show themselves in a gym, that sounds kinda counter productive don't you think? :) All research and empirical data prove that the opposite is true, and that isn't just for obesity, it's true in general. If fat shaming worked we would have zero obese people by now, and ironically it's actually fat shaming that caused the entire body positivity movement as a direct cultural backlash to fat shaming. Just as pride was a counter movement to homophobia.

Asmon said a sentence that kinda hit me, "At some point, you've gotta start taking accountability." I've been working on weight loss since November, down 52 lbs total. I've failed so many times in the past without losing a single pound and made so many excuses to why it wasn't my fault. At the end of the day, for me anyway, I really think the taking accountability part has actually been the hardest part. Trying to push the "blame" off onto someone or something else to make yourself feel better really only ends with you robbing yourself. It takes the lesson and the experience out of it, making everything you do pointless until you finally act like an adult and realize it's you, you're the one who did it, now you're the one who needs to fix it. Use outside resources if it'll help you, but don't blame them if you fail. "You ate your way in, now walk your way out"-Bill Burr

      @douwehuysmans5959 Před rokem +4

Yes, the tricky thing is to take accountability without beating yourself in the ground. I feel this is a 'skill' that's not being taught properly. Other than that she seemed really awesome. So to convince myself I was NOT just some shallow jerk I went on this date. We got along pretty well.. THEN, after a meal ; While we were walking across the street This Girl didn’t even bother looking. She just walked Uncaring in front of a car OBLIVIOUS while the car drive threw up his hands looking at me like “WTF!?”. She didn’t even care. Then I realized this girl’s WEIGHT was symptomatic of another problem.. She had such a LACK of self-preservation instinct AND lack of situational awareness and I’m pretty sure she eventually saw that she was was blatantly holding up traffic wadding across the road and made ZERO EFFORT to try to get out of the way of cars. That Sealed it for me. Her problem had nothing to do with her weight and everything to do with her self-absorption.
..anyway.. what shocked me the most was my own reaction to seeing this person have such little care for people around her…. Clearly self-indulgence, self-obsession ; self-aggrandizement is far beyond mere Eating habits….

Hearing Asmon talk about losing his mom hit me right in the feels. I lost my mom a few years ago due to heart problems caused, in part, by obesity. She was a lovely woman through and through but struggled to lose the weight when she was younger - she was busy raising kids with a plethora of “bigger” problems that she spent her time on instead. The kicker? After the heart problems started, she did lose weight but by then, it was already too late and had mobility issues. I knew the minute she required oxygen and refused to quit smoking that it was a lost battle (I know Asmond knows what that is like, I’ve heard him speak on it a few times). 1000% agree with his sentiment, if my mom had taken care of herself, she would likely still be here and man that sucks.

I used to look down on fat people to a degree when I was younger (like 12ish and into early teens), but even then, I was able to understand that shaming them and making them feel worse wouldn't help, and in fact might drive them to become worse, so despite what I felt inside, I kept my mouth shut. I've always valued not hurting people over whatever I might personally be feeling inside.
Now I'm kinda heavy myself, unfortunately, so I better understand how f*king hard it is to stay healthy. Partly because of our culture and partly just because your own body and mind are constantly fighting you and it only takes a few seconds of weakness to makes things worse.
And that only makes me despise the whole "healthy at any weight" more than ever. Once I realized I'd let it get out of control and felt how wretched and uncomfortable it was to put on weight... no, no it's not f*king healthy, and thinking so is delusional. It. Feels. Awful. Not just mentally or emotionally, but PHYSICALLY. It feels PHYSICALLY miserable. And I'm not even close to morbid. Just a bit too much weight around my waist and I'm getting heartburn and it's uncomfortable to lean down to tie my damn shoes because it gets in the way and I can't breathe. So to those who are actually struggling, I sympathize.

Thanks for sharing, because I imagine this is painful to talk about. I think people in general don't have an understanding of the difference between shaming and tough love. Tough love can only come from people you care about and care about you. I've been sober a long time and I'll say that there's no pity and defense for drug addicts and alcoholics like there is for obese people. And I have to feel like if there was more criticism maybe it would help some people. I can only speak for myself in saying that my family giving me shit at every turn was what ultimately got me to hit a really bottom. Had they just turned a blind eye, I would've continued and probably drank myself to death or committed suicide (something I thought about multiple times a day). I wish you the best of luck in your journey. I know this shit is hard. Even harder probably because you HAVE to eat to live. And learning to eat healthy/moderate is very difficult.

Body dysmorphia is no joke, man. When I was a teenager, I was really skinny and didn't care much about a healthy diet. "JUST DON'T EAT 4Head" and all that. Nowadays, I have a crippling stress eating habit where I often can't stop eating the unhealthiest stuff whenever I feel really bad. I have doubled my weight since high school and now look like melting ice cream. I _know_ I should stop eating junk food and start working out, but I can't find the strength to do it.

About the fat shaming thing I have an off center kind of view about it. My initial drive to lose weight was knowing I would be spending a lot of time at the pool when summer came around. The fear of being shamed or laughed at for my weight galvanized me into losing it. That said, I don't think _actually getting_ shamed or laughed at is a good thing. The fear of it maybe. It helped me. I can attest to that much. But it would mess with people if it actually happened.

@@w1mark275 I do think for a lot of people it's heathy to have that worrying voice that goes "If you don't do _this_ what if _this_ happens". But for some people you're probably right if that voice shouts at them or it doesn't come up only when you're hesitating and need a motivation boost. It's just going off all the time. Those aren't helpful things to anyone.
To be completely clear on why I think my fear helped me out, it's not to say I think it's a good thing for anybody to bully or shame for weight. I wouldn't have liked it if that happened and if anything I would've stopped going to the pool. That would've removed my fear of being shirtless and my motivation to continue losing weight. So it wouldn't have helped at all. I advocate completely against shaming and bullying.
... It's one of those things where the worry about something happening helps you out. Like, don't jump off there it's too high. It's too late and that's not a safe area so don't go. It’s honestly a pretty complicated issue. While the fear of shame and ridicule can be a very healthy way of controlling yourself and avoiding unnecessary or deviant behavior it also can be a crushing weight. But if it never happens at all. Then there is nothing to be afraid of and thus no reason to improve. It’s wild. But we all agree that openly shaming a persons weight is damaging, but if absolutely no one ever does it and there is no risk of a person doing it then you have nothing that will tell you “if I don’t lose weight what will people think?”

What nobody ever says about weightloss is that it comes with the consequences of losing your coping mechanism. I didn't know it either and would have never guessed, I dropped a little over 100 pounds. Apparently I was eating to cope with my emotions, stress, depression the usual, nothing major but eating was an outlet. As soon as I hit my goal, healthy weight I got into a very bad panic attack disorder. I had no idea what a panic attack was before this, I couldn't figure out why either, becaus eon the surface I was the happiest I had ever been. Apparently I no longer had a way to cope with daily stress and just my usual nostalgic depressive thoughts about life and purpose. I no longer had my food to drown those feelings in. Aside of that, the body produces a lot of cortisol (the stress hormone) when it is losing weight, even though you may not feel stressed at all, it isn't something you 'feel' is happening. Other people drink or smoke or play games to cope with stress. I used to play too, except losing that weight took away the free time I had and made it into me cooking and exercising. For someone like me who has never learned a way to deal with stress other than eating and playing games, it is almost impossible to not have it all collapse at some point, seemingly out of nowhere. I am now a year into my panic attack disorder and it is getting better, but it was the worst year of my life where almost every day I couldn't draw a breath without thinking I am about to die. Although I am not some emo kid, not some unidentified gender or some blue hair weirdo and I had zero logical understanding why this had started to happen to me when I was literally the happiest and proudest and most optimistic i have ever been. The human brain and hormones are a very, very weird thing. I wish people would stop presuming they understand what is going on, although this is youtube and things are done mostly for clout, the issue of weight is extremely complex and still majorly misunderstood even by those of us who have dealt with it and come out victorious.

I think a lot of people kind of forget that you can be addicted to eating too. Eating gives your brain endorphins, just like drugs can, and it can be hard to stop.
If you've never been addicted to something, trying to cut back is a genuinely miserable experience. You become moody, you lose energy and motivation, get easily agitated. Sometimes, you feel ill for no other reason than withdrawal. It's very hard to willingly subject yourself to this kind of thing, when you could just eat something and make all that go away.
Part of why I think a lot of people get that huge is because they dont have anyone to go to for support when they're down bad, and want to give in. Or even worse, people around them enabling bad habits, or generally just being negative about it.

I think the main problem with the weight loss journey video idea is the problem with it going poorly. A lot of people who are fat have some kind combination of factors going on. But a common one is emotional eating. Amberlynn appears to be one of these people. So, every time she hits a setback, and people start admonishing her for having no self control, and being fat, and making fun of her, they just make her want to eat more, which she seems to give in to. In fact, her not recording her journey anymore would probably be a good move for her, as long as she's still trying to lose weight outside of the public eye. People can't bother her for her failures and make things worse when she gets stuck or falls off the wagon a little, if she doesn't tell them about it.
Weight loss journey series of videos can go well - having a supportive community of people who want to see you succeed can be a powerful thing. It just wasn't a good fit for Amberlynn Ried. What she needs is a therapist to help her find healthier ways to cope with her emotional problems, and possibly some other people to help get her diet under control. Because the internet chewed her up and spit her out, way worse than when she started. Not everyone can make progress when they have people hurling insults at them all the time, and Amberlynn seems to be one of them. I hope she finds people to surround herself with in real life that will support her weight loss journey, and help her to get back on track when she messes up instead of going out of their way to make her feel like a bad person for making some mistakes.

Saying "No" to food is incredibly difficult when all your life you've used food to emotionally relate yourself.
As a food addict, I have to be very careful about my grocery shopping when I know I'm emotionally activated or hungry. I will eat to soothe myself. I have a food ritual during the binge. I eat to full capacity and will finish it all because I was taught not to waste food. I will hide the empty containers. Afterwards I'll be sick for days with bloat, inflammation, lack of appetite etc.
I hate it. Once I reach about a month of not eating sugar is when the urges are gone and typically I'll be good for 6 months to a year. My weight returns to normal.
Ultimately, therapy has helped and one of my meds helps with binge eating.

In the past year my mom has lost nearly 100lbs and when she started, her doctor told her to weigh herself every week at the same time every morning (apparently the morning is the most accurate). But this could possibly be due to her age (65).

@@theredheadwiththread1275 The morning is the most accurate for everyone. As the day progresses you retain more water and are likely digesting food which will add to your weight.

Asmon at one point in my life I weighed in at 567lbs as I ate everything, night snacker etc etc. I made a change and just cut everything I ate in half and walked a ton. I now weigh in at 205lbs and I'm 5'11. So many ask how I did it and I told them exactly what I told you. Just change the way you eat and what you eat. Walk alot! I did it, so can you! :)

To add a little to Amber's story if you don't know her, she grew up in foster care and had drag addicted parents. She bounced around constantly throughout her childhood and was separated for her brother. She grew up in California but now lives in Kentucky where she had moved to to be with her ex Becky. She has been diagnosed with Binge eating disorder, and due to this disorder she had to wait an entire year free of binging in order to get WLS.
And I completely agree with you, fat shaming only works with certain people and I've never seen it work with women. We can all see her. She can see us. She knows she is overweight. There is no reason to bully her for it. I see a lot of people in her comments using their weight loss against her, as if they weren't also fat at some point.

Depends on the woman and whether she's fueled by spite 😂 I'm currently losing weight for two reasons: 1) to improve my health/wellness (obviously the most important) and 2) to spite a relative who told me that now that I'm in my 30s I'm "doomed to be fat like the rest of us"; the "us" to which she was referring is many of the women on my mom's side of the family.

Stuff like this is so hard to watch. It's not my place to try to figure out the root cause but it has to be mostly psychological. I've always struggled with my weight and my diet too, but going over 200lbs and seeing a picture of myself made the alarms go off in my brain. I lost most of it but regained some, and now my BMI hovers right at the borderline between normal and overweight. I just can't fathom being over 300 lbs, let alone 400 or 500. Seeing people get to that point just makes me sad for them.

Imho once you're 350 the switch is broken and you'll just keep gaining.
Yoyos are more common in the 200s or low 300s. I've never seen someone go from 380 to 330 without keeping the weight off.
It's probably because 350 is the point where you lose basic functions like being able to walk, clean properly etc

not gonna lie, i am currently on my own weight loss kick, as my entire life until my 30s. I was a healthy and fit 170-185 lbs. sadly i gained weight up into the 230's. and i decided enough was enough, and I have cut back down to 215 in the last 2 months. However I am still not fully happy, I would like to be back down to my healthy weight of 185, but admittedly I need to commit myself more to actually working out, these first 15 lbs of weight loss were due to completely cutting soda, and refined sugar out of my diet. Now I only eat sugars and carbs that come from fruits, or 100% whole grain, multigrains, so rather, i've cut my carb intake to very little, and healthier carbs, and have been more active. I hope that by this time next year, I can be back down to 185. I need to step it up tho.

It is alarming that you can buy a bag of chips (French fries), a bag of chicken nuggets and ketchup for less than the cost of a punnet of apples. Multibuys are often on the least healthy food too. In Amber's case she earns big money on CZcams and uses it to order take out daily and very rarely goes out to do her food shop. Very sad to see her this way.

In America garbage food which os full on calories is cheap and healthy food is expensive.
If you need some good laughs find videos of American tourists in Europe who can't walk back to their hotels and start crying (about a km walking distance mind you).
My bfs dad found some American tourists in UK and wanted to show them a walking trail he takes when he takes photos (he was a wildlife photographer) they followed him 4-500 meters and gave up almost crying 🤣🤣

@@dreamerlotus Yeah idk where you'd live to have these sort of prices. But generally it's way less expensive to eat at home and eat healthy than it is to consistently eat fast food or frozen junk food. Bag of apples here(About an hour outside of Chicago) goes for around $4 in average, yesterday I just got some asparagus, mushrooms, garlic, serrano peppers, and a family pack of chicken for under $20, enough to make meals for a week. A Wendy's meal by itself is around $12 here. The myth of expensive healthy eating is something obese people push as an excuse for the way they eat.

I think the secret is (if you want to lose weight): stop eating snacks after dinner (a normal sized portion), your dinner is your last meal. No chips, no cheetos, no finger food, no fried chicken, no fruit, nothing. You eat dinner, you drink water or tea (no sugar) and after that, you go to bed. No in between snacks. It's okay to have a rumbling stomach for a while.

I was there once. I recommend adjusting your food normally and gamefy your eating with a cal counting app. Do it in small steps. Keep counting the cals. You will get there.
