    Great video. I've had Samsung QLEDs for years. I also have a OLED CX in my bedroom and its AMAZING for nighttime movie watching. I play a lot of games with huds and burn in has always been in the back of my mind, which is why I stick with QLED. For me, its worth the sacrifice of some dark room performance for the peace of mind. I have a Q90R now and it does incredibly well with dark scenes, my QN900A comes next week...can't wait to see the improvements made with mini LED.

    I chose the QN90A over the LG C1. I watched and reviewed many. I thought the QN90A had the best PQ, longevity, features, and its versatility in any environment and any content. The QN90A doesn't need Dolby Vision; Samsung's Neo Vision does just as good. I only need only one port for gaming. Contrast is important, but so is brightness and color volume.

Detail is more noticeable regardless its still only 4k, its because of the contrast ratio, yeah my samsung is brighter, but the contrast levels are unreal, popping out the images on my C1. Great video man and I agree with everything you just said! I own both qled and OLED. I had first bought the qled (q90t) and was going nuts on forums and CZcams videos with ppl saying how OLED was just better (it is absolutely in certain areas and vice versa) than qled. I had a serious case of fomo and couldn't resist so I bought an c1 to replace my ultrawide monitor. I just had to see what the hype was all about.
    I love the c1 for sure. The contrast is amazing and the blacks are jaw dropping. But it's HDR brightness compared to the q90t is not so good like you said. I wish the OLED was a little brighter. Again like you said if you don't have em side by side it's tough to really compare!

      Mind that for gaming sure you will see the difference in brightness in movies not so much as majority of movies HDR was set to peak 1000 nits. You won’t see 100-200 nits difference, you need double to notice it hence brighter Qleds don’t bring anything here. Color volume on the other hand you will notice, Qleds having it better but ultimately perceived contrast will make OLED more pleasing.

    DSE and Blooming just drove me towards getting a Sony A80j a few weeks ago and the clarity and contrast on OLED just blows me away every time I turn the TV on. I'm a little worried about burn in but the trade-off is worth it, pixel level control makes hdr really pop, full array just can't compete, for example when you have stars in the night sky on a QLED the detail in the stars are lost as the dimming algorithm tries to keep the blacks dark.
    I know it's not as bright but as long as you are able to control the light in the room OLED wins hands down. In a dark room I find it gets too bright for comfort and need to turn the brightness down.
    If you are in a room with alot of ambiant light then don't get an OLED you will be very disappointed.

    It's refreshing to see someone not jumping on the Oled hype. They are undeniably stunning but for my use case I chose the X95J. I game but not hardcore fast moving multilayer or shooters, so I can see why you didn't go Sony. Vrr is not important to me and I am concerned about the inevitable degradation of oled from static images. Wouldn't feel comfortable playing zelda botw for hundreds of hours etc. Picture quality, upscaling and 4k at 60 is the reason I chose the way I did. There is zero comparison here. The OLED is far and away superior to not only watching tv but gaming. OLED has 4x hdmi 2.1 and has no blooming, has superior black level and infinite contrast. Superior response time. QLED advantage is the brightness but it has just 1x hdmi 2.1 and has no Dolby Vision, and the worst thing about it is that all LED have DSE dirty screen effect and the Samsung QLED are awful with this. OLED has lower brightness but the contrast is unmatched and no blooming. If your advantage for going QLED is windows and brightness that is not a better tv, that is just a compromise. Nobody should buy a QLED for gaming not in 2021

      @ye-rochawkins5432 Před 2 lety +4

      DSE, FALD grid patterns, noticeable zone transitions, and the rather blurry motion(due to slower pixel response) was ultimately the deal breaker for me with QLED, and why I finally went OLED. I’m glad I did too. However, I’m still wanting more. And I do still think it’s the objectively superior tech. However, not without it’s limitations.
      I’m also just a huge fan of Quantum Dot color and that brightness. On LG OLEDs, my eyes just cannot unsee the white subpixel dilution. It’s a real shame.
      I don’t agree with “nobody should buy QLED for gaming in 2021” tho. That’s just a bad take imo. QLEDs can be amazing for gaming, and much more impactful. Especially for those bright and colorful games, where OLED just reaches it’s limits. It really all depends on your use case, and what you like.

There is no dispute here. The Samsung comes close, but I can’t help but notice the ever so slightly blooming effects around white objects on the screen. It’s subtle but it’s there if you are used to the perfect contrast from the C1 you will notice it. Got fairly sensitive and very dry eyes, and every time after gaming on my 2019 Q70 my eyes are just burning even after toning down the brightness as much as possible without ruining image quality completely. Not a fanboy of LG or OLED since I’ve never owned either, but just ordered a C1, hoping it’ll be easier on my eyes. My Q70 also has the worst ghosting and brightness fluctuations I’ve ever seen and Samsung just says no fix is available, so definitely no Samsung for gaming ever again 🙄

      Yeah totally true, altho apparently Samsung failed the whole 2019 lineup with gamemode ghosting, since the same complaints and CZcams-videos are all over the place of several models including Q90. Left me with a bitterish taste of ”well, oops, but here take a look of our newer models”. Hopefully nothing similar happens again :)

  • @BNOVA

    It is quite simple really. If you have a right room use a LED LCD panel. If you room is darker OLED is better.
    OLED will get dimmer over time because it is an organic display much like Plasmas were. If if ppl are going for the best then they will choose a newer TV before this is an issue.
    Very often the LED LCD that are very good cost more than the C1 so there is a compromise as with anything.
    If more brightness is required then persons should get a Sony master class OLED which is brighter than the C1 or the Panasonic model if they live in the UK. Noth of those are very picture accurate out of the box and need no tweaking at all.

    I spent months in 2020 comparing TVs, and while the QLEDs were noticeably brighter, the OLEDs were bright enough and seemed to produce a "nicer" image. It's my subjective opinion of course and I'm probably influenced by having come from plasma. I have a GX which I find plenty bright enough. The 2021 OLEDs are even brighter. I'm not sure why anyone would want more unless their viewing room has lot's of windows? Saying we're asleep isn't fair comment.

      They’d want “more” bc the content was created for more luminance. You’re constantly compromising on OLED, with having to rely so much on tone mapping. Having native high peak brightness makes HDR content come alive, and reveals details in specular highlights that the OLED is going to compress the hell out of. See it all the time on my CX.
      I get and understand your viewpoint, especially coming from a very dim plasma. But spend a decent time with any quality QLED, and it will definitely open your eyes up, to how HDR content was supposed to be viewed/enjoyed.

      @@vaxick Clearly you’ve never seen, or spent time with the QN900A. It actually exceeds OLED, even on small windows. It sounds like you’ve watched KICT’s QN90A video, and taken it as this is a fact for all QLED TV’s. I never even brought up Samsung, so why are you btw?
      And I’m well aware of the benefits of pixel level control/self emissive nature of OLEDs lol. I find it hilarious a lot of you people think you know so much more than others. But really, that pixel level control is OLEDs party trick. They do a great job with small highlights. But once that window grows, it’s game over. You’re fighting the limitations of the tech. And this 100% impacts HDR, especially high APL scenes, and large windows. ABL will drag the APL down, and mute color volume.
      You can keep believing you OLED is perfect tho. Keep in mind, I daily drive an OLED too right now. But I’m not oblivious to the limitations. Especially in terms of a HDR display. Nobody is claiming QLED is perfect either lmfao. It far from it. But QLED at least gives the HDR impact many of us seek, and the content calls for.

It might be better than just an LCD, but I can't justify spending that much for a decade old panel technology. The burn in age is gone as the pixel refresher will run for 7 minutes every time you turn the TV OFF. Look at Quantum TV after playing for an year games with HUD. 0 burn in or image retention. OLED is just another class, and that is why Samsung is finally jumping to it next year by buying panels from LG.

      I found the OLEDs to be more forgiving.
      I can’t say for certain but it could be because of the 8K panel.
      I find the Samsung will show a lot more noise in low quality content.
      I was watching a TV show in 720p on the QN900A and I could notice a lot of imperfections.
      I personally believe it’s due to the pixel density.
      OLED appears to be able to handle it a bit better.
      On good 1080p content and above the QN900A really shines. I threw a 4K Blu-ray of Sicario at it and it really wowed me.
      8K is probably not necessary now but it does make a difference when it upscales quality content.
      So I guess the answer is OLED appeared better to me with lower quality content.

    • @ILT_AU
      @ILT_AU  Před 2 lety

      Philips hue gradient light strip for the TV.
      Then two hue light strips on either side of the TV unit.
      Also some hue lights on top of my display cabinets on the left and right sides.
      They all sync for the hue sync box.
      Then I also have light strips inside the TV units.
      Check my other video to see how I cut them up to size and installed them. I used a lot of different pieces to make them work off one controller

    Which wall mount and bias lights are you using for the qn900a? I’m looking for a slim wall mount that still allows for bias lights.

    • @ILT_AU
      @ILT_AU  Před 2 lety

      Funny you should ask. I am using Philips hue gradient light strip with a Philips hue sync box.
      It’s so think and only just fits behind the TV.
      Also, it doesn’t provide any light for the bottom the TV by design.
      So you only get light coverage on the top and sides.
      The OLED I used hue light strips cut to size so it’s full coverage.

      @@ILT_AU I have the same philips gradient light. Which wall mount are you using? They are coming to install my tv tomorrow and I’m kinda nervous because the slim mounts don’t allow enough room for the hue gradient to fit. I measured the thickness of the bias light strip and it’s about 1 inch thick.

      @@ILT_AU I’m between something like the one in this link which has a 3cm gap which is just enough for the hue gradient to fit, and a slim articulating one that allows me to tilt to avoid the glare of my overhead lights. Decisions decisions lol.

    • @ILT_AU
      @ILT_AU  Před 2 lety +1

      I found with this bracket there is a very subtle downward tilt.
      Could just be my imagination but I’ve heard negative things about large screen TVs with adjustable wall mounting brackets.
      Keep it simple and strong.

    Hi sir, in my country my only good options are between a 48" LG C1 or a 55" Sony X90j. They dont sell the QN900/TCL/Hisense series here thus my options are pretty limited.
    Would you recommend me to get the smaller OLED or the larger X90j? The sony is 70usd cheaper. but, about the same price point.
    It's going to be placed in my bedroom, and used mainly for casual story/open world games on my ps5. I will also use it for some netflix.
    The thing making me think twice on getting the OLED is that there are friends who advised me on getting a larger TV as it would be more immersive. I'm not particularly worried about burn in as I would only use my tv about 3/4hours a day, maybe more on weekends? and i think the newer playstation games have features that would help prevent screen burn in, like healthbars and stuff disappearing on screen when not in combat.
    I have however heard very mixed reviews on the x90j. Some mentioned that the picture quality is comparable to the C1, while others absolutely trashed the x90j which got me, as a consumer with little knowledge in this, so very confused. Looking for some advise.
    Do you think OLED> larger screen for better casual gaming/movie experience in a dim room?(there will be some ambient light turned on)

    • @ILT_AU
      @ILT_AU  Před 2 lety

      No larger screens is generally better imo however. For gaming. OLED over a Sony LED LCD.
      That’s coming from someone who prefers led lcd TVs.
      If you had a xbox sx then even more reason to get the OLED. Sony TVs aren’t gamer friendly.

    Why can't I use the same logic you're using here? I mean I could also say that you're on the qled hype train. It's not a hype, oled is objectively the better technology. People should just know in advance what conditions they're going to use their tvs before purchasing.

    Its been said that Oled is not bright enough to take advantage of HDR but I mostly play in a Dark Room so I don’t need Tv to be so bright but since Oled can get Burn In,I wouldn’t recommend it for Gaming
