- Are you nervous about taking public transportation in Panama? Are you tired of your ride share costs from Uber? Did you know that you can take the bus for $0.25? Insert shocked face. As someone with cerebral palsy, I was a bit nervous myself, but I took the leap.
In this video we will take you along a tour I took that teaches participants the ins and outs of public transportation in Panama City, Panama to take away any fears that you might have or to just show you the ropes.
We will cover the different cards that are used, prices, transfers, how to load your metro cards at Allbrook, what apps you should download, show you what is like to ride both the metro train and the bus, and briefly discuss taking both if you have a mobility constraint.

That is an awesome tour and a great feature for newbies.
I would ride the train with my sons just for fun when the lockdowns started easing up. Looking forward to the train extension west towards Chiriqui. Great Video🙌
This is a very informative video! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! Glad you found it to be informative. 😀🥰
As a Panamanian, this was a great video!
Thank you for sharing
Awwww. Gracias! I am glad that you liked it.
I would never; but found out you can drive to Panama from the states.
Awesome video! Thank you!
Very nice video. Barbara is definitely a pro.
Gracias! A pro with a huge heart!
It was a fun day, see you on the bus again soon girl!
Yes! It was great seeing you as well.
Wow. This was great. I hope to try it out when I visit Panama. It's so affordable too! Thanks for sharing this Aisha. 😊
You are most welcome! 🎉🇵🇦
I could not find the PTY Cards App (from outside the country)
Hmmmm. That is interesting. Do you have a vpn?
Great video! Question: What is the difference in the two cards?
Hey hey hey!!!!! Great to hear from you! Which cards the jubilado versus the normal metro card?
Oh okay, one of them was the “jubilado ” card! Ok because I have the normal one.. I think 🤔… I didn’t know there were two cards.
Yes, that was a good video. My question is once you hit the machine as you exit to do a transfer how does the next train or bus know that you hit the transfer machine on the way out of the last bus or train you were on? Does it give you a ticket or something to show to the next Driver?
Thanks for the question. I haven’t done that yet but my guess is that it registers on the card so when you scan back it, you probably won’t get charged.
Thank you very much. 😁
Do you have info for the metro tour guide Ms. Barbara??
If you join the Panama City Expats & Locals Facebook group, she can be found in there.
How do you sign up for a tour?
I found out she was doing it at the last expat meet up at Cafe UNIDO. Let me see how she wants to be contacted. I will circle back and let you know.
