Tories, presumably including Sunak, knew about this for three months and did nothing. They only suspended him today because the story broke on a national newspaper. More of the "integrity, professionalism and accountability" that Rishi had promised us on day one.

sending your child to a public school only to return to your family during holidays, and allegations of physical or sexual abuse seem to arise from these establishments and isolated from the (real ) world. Is it any wonder many of our MP's seem to be oddballs and dodgy characters.

The proportion of MPs from working class backgrounds has been declining for many years, while many more MPs went to university than their voters. Rishi Sunak’s cabinet has the second-highest proportion of private school-educated ministers of any in four decades (only Liz Truss’ cabinet was higher).

There are really serious issues here to do with personal & professional conduct, standards, security risks and duty of care to the public. Can you imagine our school teachers, doctors, nurses doing this & continuing their work? Can we imagine the exposure MPs have as respected members of our communities & contact with all groups of people? Menzies allegations suggest addictions, behavioural issues & financial abuse. He could have been easily accessed, blackmailed, controlled etc., and actually, what about the day job?!
The way this Govt & its media are using the Rayner story is absolutely infuriating. Obvs done to deflect & divert attention, smear & intimidate a Lab woman MP but it is bullying. It poses no public risk whatsoever & even if found to have mistakenly unpaid CG tax, is v small pie. The OTT use of Govt power by powerful men - Ashcroft, Sunak, Hunt, Daly, Shapps, Hodges, calling in police, tabloids hounding old neighbours to say where she may have spent majority of her time over 10 years ago etc., is disgraceful. Esp given this Govt’s record of corruption & some their personal finance & tax issues. I think it is backfiring big time but I despair at the state of our Govt & our media.
