The Jim Blythe save was superb. Great to hear so many names from a great era of football.

Was this the longest assist ever? 'A long kick all the way from Blyth'. That's quite a distance from Newcastle!

Looking back there were some great players in this Newcastle team such as Irving Nattrass, Alan Kennedy, Tommy Craig and Micky Burns. You have to wonder why they went down that season and I suppose the buck has to stop with the manager. Richard Dinnis was very popular with the players but the erstwhile school teacher from Preston was clearly out of his depth managing a first division football team.

This is superb from an era when players played for the club and not the money

Irony, the late Jimmy Hill was a director of Coventry City & very commercially orientated while at the club. One year, two of the Coventry strips (following the Admiral kit her) were made into large "Talbot Cars" logos. It meant the club had to resort to four kits, so that they had to separate "TV" strip without the giant logo advertising the car company.
He also pushed for 3pts for a win, which has made a League title race less of a competition over the years, despite being around 40yrs now..

Made me laugh hearing Newcastle fans singing "your gonna get your f...... heads kicked in after Coventry scored...if i remember a trip up the A45 to Birmingham was too much for them in those days...so can only imagine they were singing to Coventrys dug out !

Yeah footballing anthem of this era. Usually sung after the opposition had scored. Another classic of the era " Get into them!!"
      Happy days
