When the festival season comes around, we are always concerned that the sweets or mithai we buy may be adulterated. So here is a quick and easy recipe of how to make Kesar peda at home without any mawa or khoya! This milk peda is made with milk powder and is flavoured with kesar or saffron. You can easily make this peda in 10 minutes for any festival. Especially festivals like Rakshabandhan or Bhai Dooj. It can also be consumed during fasts such as Navratri, Shivratri , Janmashtami as well.

Recipe :
Kesar Peda
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 20 Pedas
Ingredients :
250g milk powder
3 tbsp ghee
½ cup milk
½ cup sugar
Sliced Pistachios to garnish
½ tsp Kesar
Few drops lemon yellow colour
Method:
Add the ghee to the pan. Add milk and bring to a boil.
Add the milk powder and mix well cook on low flame till the mixture starts coming together like a ball.
Add the kesar soaked in a tsp of warm water.
Add the sugar and cook till the mixture again begins to come together as a ball else it won’t set properly and will become sticky.
Add a few drops of lemon yellow colour.
Mix well.
Break into lemon sized balls. Shape well and garnish with a slice of pistachio and a kesar strand.
Set and serve.

I used your method, I bought two tins of powder milk during the start of covid pandemic back in March2020, so in the end it did not get used up as fresh milk was always available, I bought powder milk for emergency. So i thought what can I do with it, so I used half tin and made about 20 small size pedas, really come up like from the sweet shops, Thanks excellent recipe . and yes thanks to my broken hindi i understand most. This recipe is definitely not for inexperienced cooks. It needs some experience with proportions and timing on the gas, even with a low flame. I tried the recipe and my peda dough turned hard after some time - after I'd taken it off the gas and kept it aside to cool a little. I had to throw it all away.
Maybe I couldn't also follow Chef Pankaj's proportions well. She mentioned milk powder in grams and two other ingredients in cups. I am assuming 1/2 cup means 125 gm or mL. But then I could be mistaken.
Only Chef can tell.
Indian sweets are not for inexperienced cooks. Working with sugar is tough.

I tried ur recipe but when I added 250 gm milk powder to 1/2 cup milk , it became completely dry so I added more 1/2 cup milk . Pls rectify the measurement in the comment section if there is any change .
That's what happened to me too!! I don't know what cup measurement she is using as my mixture was so dry!
I too had the same issue. Had to keep adding milk to get it all mixed in. Definitely takes more than 10 minutes to make these.
