    This video applies to those looking to enlist, already enlisted, or know someone who is enlisted in the USAF or other branches wanting to commission into the USAF!
    AFROTC is one route to become a USAF officer.
    There are four ways to join the Air Force as an officer. While each way differs slightly, they all ultimately allow you to begin your career as a leader.
    1. Attend Officer Training School (OTS) after earning a college or postgraduate degree. Upon earning a college or postgraduate degree, you can take the steps to enter the Air Force as an officer.
    2. Attend the U.S. Air Force Academy.
    Intensive and competitive, the prestigious United States Air Force Academy offers a world-class education with fully paid tuition, cost-free room and board, cost-free medical care, and a monthly cash stipend in exchange for your commitment to serve.
    3. Join AFROTC in college.
    Available at colleges and universities all over the country, Air Force ROTC offers tuition assistance while you earn your degree and experience college life.
    4. Enlist and work toward becoming an officer.
    The Air Force has unprecedented growth opportunities, and any enlisted Airman can take the steps necessary to work toward officer status.
    Please comment with your questions!!
    For all of my videos, I really want to have an open forum with my viewers and subscribers. Obviously, I have a passion for space and I want to share my experiences in the Air Force and in the new branch as we transition into the United States Space Force.
    I will also provide the latest space news updates and intend to interviews with space professionals, enlisted and officer personnel, recruiters, etc.
    I hope you enjoy my videos and comment with your questions, look forward to hearing from you all!

    O-1 over four years enlisted is a big pay raise. Consider that too please.

    Thank you for this very informative video. Question: when airmen get removed from active duty to being a full time student, does the TIS from being an enlisted get removed?

    • @SpaceNerdConfessions
      @SpaceNerdConfessions  Před 3 lety +2

      Hopefully I am addressing your question correctly, but that time served still counts and TIS doesn't apply if you are already separated. Hope this helps!

    For enlisted over the age of 31, what options are there to get to officer? Even without the scholarships, is ROTC still an option? Is that even possible with active duty?

  • @NoeticSoul
    @NoeticSoul Před 3 lety +2

    How does commissioning to the space force from rotc work? Does it depend on the job you pick it? is it an option (like the navy ROTC marine option)

    • @eyb0ss390
      @eyb0ss390 Před 2 lety

      You apply to a space force board your 3 or 4 year in the program and, yes, it also depends on what afsc you were given. Missiles and space operations give a higher chance of being selected to the space force. It's not like navy or marine option, all space force selects dont find out until their 3rd or 4th year and go through all training as an Air Force cadet. In fact, you dont get the space force name tape and lapel until after you commission, so even after cadets are selected for space force, they still wear the air force name tape.

    Hey, my goal is to be an officer. I have 2.5 more years to complete my bachelor's degree. I'm not eligible for ROTC because I have less than three years to complete my degree. Should I enlist now in reserve or complete my degree and join? I have heard that if you enlist the chances of making into an officer are very less, and also heard that students commissioning without ROTC or Academy is very less.
    Thank you!!

    • @SpaceNerdConfessions
      @SpaceNerdConfessions  Před 4 lety +3

      Navid John so I advise you to make a list of pros and cons. If you enlist into the reserves now you can gain some experience while finishing up your college and there are some reserve commissioning programs. But it’s not as easy as you think it would be to go from reserve to active duty. You would have to go to a recruiter and start the process all over again. And yes you’re correct the commissioning on the civilian side and enlisted side are both competitive. What is your degree in?

      @SpaceNerdConfessions  Před 4 lety

      Navid John well luckily CIS is a STEM degree so it is competitive for OTS. You can apply for OTS in a year out from graduating but like I said you can weigh out the pros and cons. Check out my other videos for more info on enlisted/officer and the OTS application process!

    • @SpaceNerdConfessions
      @SpaceNerdConfessions  Před 3 lety

      You can apply as many times as you want. Start early to set your self up with a strong application. Take advantage of opportunities to set yourself apart and be a leader. You can apply as soon as a couple years in, also let your supervisor know about your end goal.

      Why enlist with a degree? If I had one, no way I’d enlist. I’m enlisted now and want to go officer ASAP the treatment and money officers get beats anything enlisted has to offer

    • @D8426-s3s
      @D8426-s3s Před 11 dny

      @@cade102712 OTS via the civilian route is highly competitive, you need leadership experience / a solid package as they call the paperwork. The whole process takes about 18 months and there is no guarantee you will be chosen. That’s the reason some people with a degree choose to enlist first then commission.

    Is it possible to be in AFROTC without receiving a scholarship? I was told that there are ROTC programs and then there are ROTC classes. You can join ROTC classes and follow the ROTC course to completion without the need of a scholarship, supposedly..

      Yes, you make a dream sheet where you rank your jobs that you are interested in. You can put as little as one job or up to 5 (potentially more). Also, I worked on my my degree while I was active duty so I was getting paid at my normal rate/rank.
