Also... I have a PacBrake PXBR exhaust brake, and while it works, it just doesn't seem like it works WELL. Way better than not having one though. Which reminds me -- towing heavy. Six years ago I moved from Oregon to Arizona. All I had at the time was my truck and a big 40' 5th wheel toyhauler. I put EVERYTHING I own in that trailer. It was HEAVY. I weighed at a closed weigh station and my gross combined was 30,500. Ooof. I made a point of taking back roads all the way, to avoid the freeway and high speeds. That way I could hang around 55-60 most of the way without issue. I still got 9 mpg despite all the weight, and made it in one piece. . And that exhaust brake got a LOT of use because a trailer that overweight kinda overpowered the trailer brakes. Oh I did check -- I was right at my tire ratings, not over. I'm a stickler for that sort of thing. :)
I've got an '18 3500 and I love that thing to death. It does things I shouldn't do with it and never gives me any grief. I live up in the Big Horns off-grid, 20 miles from the nearest pavement, and 15 miles up a horrid 2 track logging road. I pull a 30 ft gooseneck with 15k axles( 8k lbs trailer). Originally I was dead set on getting it with the G56, but I needed my mom to be able to drive it so I went with the Aisin. Loaded up the trailer in Casper with 25k lbs of lumber and steel and decided to torture test the trans. Ran 80 to Powder River Pass and put my foot to the floor headed over the pass. I figured either the trans would explode or I'd know I had a good truck. 35 up a 12%, trans temp never got over 168, never touched the brakes on the way down the other side. Made it up the logging road in 4 low and and the trans never got above 180. That was the day I became a believer in the Aisin. You got a good truck there. You take care of her, and she'll take care of you. Also, if you just leave the trans alone and let it do it's thing it'll learn proper shift points for the weight and grade you're pulling. They have an adaptive learning program in the TCM. That's part of the reason you cant tune those transmissions.

I’d say Manage the transmission and prevent excessive shifting and have the engine brake ready in the gear you want. And then have the exhaust brake tee’d up when you know you’re going to need it. Shift away with the roads you ride on. Tow/haul mode would just be hunting for gears. Whats plans for the 08
Keeping it. I’m still using it alot
Do you put the truck in neutral when loading equipment
No. Always apply parking brake in neutral than put in park. I never load in neutral I want the truck to stay put lol
@@VBELTandSON neutral and E break chalk tire save the transmission on flat ground like the content 👌
@@cowboyjohnnydriver9795 trans can handle it all🤘🏻 and thank you
Uh oh.............you already said the "other machine" isn't this heavy.............I say new pt 175, final answer Regis
Pretty sure I have pulled over 10,000 pounds with a Nissan Frontier
How long is the deck
This trailer is a 20+ 5
it's not my truck just my 2 beans I would let the transmission learn the way you drive for a bit before shifting it manually
Truck name 5500 C'mon
Your dad truck I would call it the Red Rooster 🐓
Should name the truck twooter(sounds like tooter) due to so many 2 in its date of creation, plus once you delete it, which come on now, you know you will, its a cummins and they deffenitly make a good ol bit of noise.
Ram has to get out of the dark ages. They need to put an 8 speed. They should put high output in all trucks. They would get those packages cheaper and it would be cheaper for us.
Do you have your cdl license.
Yes. Cdl is a must to tow this
Thanks I always enjoy your videos i know that you are required to have you cdl over 26000 pounds but some CZcamsrs don’t have there cdl and they haul lets say a cat 309 with a 2500 with out a cdl. Keep the great work up 😀
@@riverlott6360 California is weird with cdl stuff. Can’t tow a trailer rated for more than 10k without a cdl lol thanks for watching ✊🏻
Tow Haul mode is not on! 😅
Is it tho?;)
@@VBELTandSON my 3500 normally shows two lights one for the tow haul mode and one for exhaust brake love you truck just waiting for the new one to come out to trade my 21 3500 for a 5500
Classic Aisin trans 😂 they do not like rolling and then hitting the accelerator 99% of the time they will rev up like it’s not in gear and then slam into one
Only seems to be at the bump and roll at the stop signs only time it does it for either of my trucks
@@VBELTandSON my 19 dose it was kinda hoping they woulda fixed it on the new ones
Put it in tow haul mode you didn’t have it in
Oops thought I hit the button.
I've seen it happen...(Ex-wife 🙃)
