Inspiration behind this video: After years of rumors and speculation, Zack Snyderâs Justice League cut will finally be released on HBO Max in 2021. The troubled production of the original 2017 version combined with disappointment from fans created a movement for the release of Zack Snyderâs original vision. Despite initial denials from the studio, the Snyder Cut was confirmed to exist in 2019 and was recently announced as an HBO Max exclusive. But what exactly is this version of Justice League? And what does it mean for the industry?
In 2013, Snyderâs Man of Steel was released, followed by 2016âs Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Despite earning over $1.5 billion combined globally, both movies proved divisive with critics and audiences and didn't match the same box office highs by the Marvel movies at the time. The future of DCâs expanded universe seemed to be on shaky grounds. While the script for Justice League was completed before the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the negative reception resulted in Snyder and Terrio rewriting their script before starting production on Justice League. Shooting wrapped in December 2016, and Cyborg actor Ray Fisher said there was enough shot to make two movies. Snyder's early assembly cut was five hours, and he says his director's cut was over three-and-a-half hours long. He screened a two-hour cut for the studio, but they weren't satisfied and assembled a writers room to implement changes to Snyder. Unfortunately, before he could complete another version, Snyder had to step away from his directing duties due to a family tragedy. To finish production, Warner Bros. hired director Joss Whedon.

Snyder cut for dummies: 2:30h of pain or 3:30h of pain with new gadgets to torture you? Snyder cut was doomed when he did man of steel, then it was really fated to failure with batman v superman.

Welcome to Warner Bros and DC. BvS had far too many rewrites too. Seriously they have above average actors and great stories to pull from. This is bonkers the level of incompetence Warner Brothers is operating at with DC movies. They can't write a good script. They direct actors to act like the 90's Batman movies, no offense Tim Burton. They got ripped off by whoever did their CGI (including every single other DC movie). They obviously gave Snyder too long of a leash and the damage has already been done for this iteration of the franchises. No matter how many Marvel directors they bring in, you can't change the tone of the cinematic universe. Barely a semblance of continuity because of WB most likely wanting as many movie$ as possible and they fumbled the Aquaman and Flash productions. Oh and Affleck broke character and voice several times' throughout the movie where he was using his Bruce Wayne and Batman voice at very odd times where he was clearly supposed to be in the other ego's voice. There was a time when they were all cheering and he cheered like Bruce Wayne would cheer while he's about to save the world as batman. Just very odd. There's so many other problems in this movie too. I think the lesson here is to not put all your eggs in one basket and let 1 director dictate an cinematic universe. Too bad for WB and the biggest losers here, DC Comics.

This actually explains a lot. I was trying to figure out if it was going to be like a version of the movie with commentary by Jack Snyder or what the deal was.so it's a rare opportunity to see what a movie was originally before it got changed edited re-edited yada yada and so on. The movie cool world by Ralph Bacci as I understand it and some of the interviews from bocce I've never completely understood but either the movie was cut over an hour and a half from the final project on top of numerous meddling from the studio or over an hour of what was finally produced was cut from the movie I've always wondered if there's a version of there of the film that is uncut but was never released if I've been understanding the Old interviews correctly they butchered between an hour and an hour and a half from the finished product because they were whining the movie was too long. There's been several movies over the years that's supposedly had an hour or more cut from the final release. i don't have a problem watching a 4-Hour DC movie and it makes it definitely a significantly different film then 5 or 10 minutes of deleted scenes that would have normally been on the DVD release of a movie;).

Quick correction: The Snyder Cut is NOT the original cut of Justice League. The original cut of JL was, in Snyderâs words, an âall compromiseâ version of the film that Warner Bros. enjoined Snyder to make because the company thought Snyderâs original idea for the film was âtoo scary.â
The Snyder Cut, ie, what weâre getting in March, is a version of JL that attempts to capture in film as much of Snyderâs original idea as possible.
Actually he shot 5+ hours of Assembly footage, from that he trimmed it down to 3:30 hours (the original cut) then studios forced him to make changes and also to cut down the footage by an hour and half and then tragedy happens
No matter what supplemental information you provide, what weâre getting in March isnât the original cut of Justice League, which, as you note, is the 3.5 hour cut - or âthe 214â as Snyder calls it. Weâre getting 4 hours that includes footage and visuals (eg, spikey Steppenwolf) that didnât make it into the 214, which, as I note above, Snyder says was âall compromise.â Whatâs coming in March is âno compromiseâ (Snyderâs words) instead.

No the plot actually makes sense now, and thereâs actually whole plot lines added that Whedon stripped. This isnât 2017 JL with extra footage. This is the 90 percent of the original Synder movie that was removed, which is an entirely different movie all together now.
