      Hi, i think your videos are great and you are awesome at what you do. But please, do not say that "even if your hands are too small, you are still able to do this". It is simple physics... If one can't grab a deck of card in one hand without the extra long fingers to manipulate the deck, it is just not gonna work.

      Hello, I’d like to reiterate slightly what some others have said. I’ve been a practicing magician for 20 years, and have worked tirelessly on the Charlier and Revolution cut. Not only do I have to modify my one hand cuts significantly, I simply cannot command control of the cards in the same way as someone who has larger hands. I have to use entirely different grips, or utterly change the finger positioning. So yes, practice makes perfect, but I find it entirely disingenuous to think that having larger hands doesn’t make it easier.

Even having 2nd hand assistance to keep packet together i cant seem to find the room to "drop it down" into my hand. And i KNOW theres room, i have bigger hands. I just.. cant... find out how. Its magic at this point but it looks so simple.

    Absolute beginner and, damn, my hands hurt. Great first tutorial to land on though. Screw the guy who says you didn't explain enough. As with anything else: pick it up, practice and you start to know what to look for once you grasp the subtle challenges. Watched this at least ten times looking for the details. My only question would be, is there a "too sore" point? You gotta build muscle with any new skill so I expect some discomfort but should I be worried about long term consequence?

    • @DecemberBoys
      @DecemberBoys  Před 6 lety +8

      If you feel pain, just put the cards away for two-three days. Then get back to it. You will be surprised how much faster you progress this way. No need to fixate on a single move too much, and remember that for some it takes months and even years to master and being able to smoothly execute a certain move, so make sure the amount of practice you should put in isn't a discouraging factor for you.

    does anyone have advice on how to actually "make" packets, as in moving them as one unit? i finally got the regular charlier down so i can do it without even thinking, but for the running charlier, if i manage to fit any of my index finger into the top packet to split it, the resulting topmost packet often just splits into several cards that slide down my index finger all spread out. i can remedy this sometimes by shaking the whole hand toward the ground to recollect the topmost splay of cards into a single packet, but this is really clunky and not smooth at all, and in this vid it looks like gravity is doing the work of keeping all the cards together. should i be chalking my fingers up to make them really dry or something?

    • @simongeral9712
      @simongeral9712 Před rokem

      He is right handed too. When you are right handed you usually start with the packet in dealers grip. So in your left hand. That's why right handed cardist do most one handed cuts with their left hand. The same goes for two handed cuts. For example in Sybil's cut you start with the deck in your left hand. And it's the same for the extreme majority of cuts (except stranges cuts like L cuts where you don't start in dealers grip). But if you struggle to learn while looking at his left hand you can download and mirror the video 🐙

    In the revolution cut, how do you manage to get the top packet over your ring finger at the beginning? Whenever I try, it’s just in the way and I can’t get it beneath smoothly

    • @kf88743
      @kf88743 Před 4 lety

      After you split the deck...slide your hand down the side of the pack where your pointer finger is approximately in the middle of the deck. Rotate the top pack to you while simultaneously pushing the bottom pack towards your thumb with the ring finger. Your ring finger will end up in the perfect position to avoid being hit
      This worked better for me than putting my ring finger in the bottom packet while rotating it towards me like he did in the video.
      Kind of hard to explain, but I kept experimenting with it. It was harder to do it slow. Getting a rhythm definitely helps

    We do not have small hands, we have untrained not flexible hands, the more we practice the more flexibility we gain. It takes time and patience!!

    Can you explain, how to get such big hands, that you can clear packets in the scissors cut?

  • @Elbarto911911

    I understand that you can do the cuts with training even if you have small hands but the starting position of thumb cut seems just physically impossible to me if I use standard cards.

    SMALL HANDED PEOPLE,, your fingers aren't to short, they are not stretched out enough.I had problems at first with the charlier cut and then realized they were long enough for that one,, Then i was absolutely sure my fingers weren't long enough for the scissor for sure...then I remembered that I play guitar and realized my left hand was waaay more limber than my right hand from years of playing guitar with short fingers..........same problem back then,, lol anyhow, I was able to do it no problem just by switching to my left hand that has the same size fingers. lol So now I do all my one handed tricks with my left hand,, Just stretch your fingers out.. The long fingered guys do have a huge advantage,, there is no doubt about it. but I have super short fingers and was able to get it with my lefty,, so any of you that play guitar might want to try with your left ...

      I think it is because the deck is slippery. I'm having the same problem coz' my deck is new. One youtuber said it is better to use used deck when you want to do these kind of tricks, while brand new decks are good for flourishing, I think

      MaDaSaVaGe perhaps. Try a bridge size, and you may find better success until you move into the larger standard.

      Dexterity 100 sometimes, having small hands meant that you can create opportunities also! Use it towards your advantage, try to learn regular card tricks while adding new techniques and rotations into it. This way it’s unique and do-able.

    Looking at how you do yhe thumb cut, you must have some looooong fingers. My middle finger will not wrap around like that. And i have pretty big hands. Geez
