So a lot of people keep leaving nasty comments telling me that I am a liar and Silent Hill 4 was NOT meant to be a silent hill game, so here are some links to back it up:

Some people said they came to my channel through "Ink Ribbon", so I want to thank you for the mention. SH4 is a very controversial game, some people hate it and others like it. I will try to discover more interesting things. Thanks and keep making good content.
Yeah man I wanted to make sure people knew about your stuff! I've followed your channel for a long time
I saw your channel back in the day and even commented on it. There was also a Lithuanian guy there, with whom I had a little chat. :)
Ink Ribbon's channel rocks, I've played this game for over a decade now and I still found a few interesting, unseen bits. Just goes to show how much detail and care was put into the games by Team Silent.
RODOLFO NUÑEZ nice man. I knew you were gonna get big one day. Great work as alway to you and ink ribbon 🤗
Thanks guys!
@@VergilHiltsLT What Lithuanina guy? :)
I always liked henry townsend, he's so innocent & introverted for a main character
I wouldn't exactly say he's innocent... he spends a large amount of time in-game perving on Eileen through the hole in the wall. This is why at one point, when you look through the hole, Eileen's plush Robbie Rabbit is turned toward you, pointing in an accusatory way.
Henry: (sees Cynthia covered in blood, gasping for breath, obviously on the verge of death) Are you okay?
@@marylarsen2288 maybe she's on her period
@@saturnine4355 Well, he was trapped in a room going to nightmarish alternate dimensions via a hole in the bathroom. What else would he do? And being perverted does not mean one is malevolent & depraved unless they become a village pillaging rapist out to destroy the universe. Jokes aside, that was pretty creepy how you see that Rabbit looking at you.
@@saturnine4355 Not really... Henry doesn't 'perv' on Eileen, the player does. The game gives you no real incentive to look in the hole. Henry's motives are decided by the player - either you have some perverted motives or you're just checking on her, since it's one of your only connections to the real world while you're in the room. You questioning your morally questionable actions while being locked away from the outside world with no-one to communicate with is exactly the point!
9:55 "and you guessed it, he's James' father..."
James, like the crazy son he is: AAHHHHH!!!
That made me laugh so hard I woke up my wife.
Very good. Very normal son
Lol
I laughed too hard at that part lol 🤣🤣
4 was terrifying. Those ghosts scared the shit out of me.
Some things you may not know.
1. Henry has some problems, bad childhood, unable to finish tasks, etc. Social anxiety being one, he was always trapped in his room before the chains. Just not physically. He didn't ever want to interact with people on the outside but when he actually wants to help he can't. Another reason for him not being social is that every character interaction comes off really awkward. Him not understanding Cynthia's advances, him startling Andrew Desalvo, the awkward attempt at a handshake with Braintree.
2. There was way more story behind the ghosts then you showed (although I understand for length of video). Victim no. 1 is the priest that teaches Walter about the 21 sacrements. He is also the ghost that tries to invade your room.
3. Walter has also had a bad childhood. Being abandoned after birth, raised and abused by cultists. Thrown into the water prison. When he grew up he was homeless. The only gift he has ever recieved was the doll (yes that doll) that Eileen gave him when she was little.
Walter sees a lot of simularities between him and Henry. He is the only soon-to-be victim that Walter actually interacts with and has conversations with. He even gives him the only gift he's ever been given.
Sounds like Henry might be autistic. Back then, if you were autistic no one really knew what that was. Being quiet and not knowing how to properly shake hands are two indicators. I learned how but I still don't like touching other people. As for not being able to help people, I feel like that all the time, even when I do help. I'm also unable to finish tasks and if it wasn't for the guy I was friends with, I'd still be innocent like Henry.
oh shut up, that trend of calling everyone that's timid, shy and socially awkward or a bit anxious ""autistic"" HAS to go.... < . < unless you are getting free money for being "autistic" i don't see the benefits.
@@fumomofumosarum5893 that's not even remotely the same things. As a shy and introverted person myself, I can communicate with others normally, I just rarely go out and do it. Being "autistic" is something entirely different to a much bigger extent than simply "shy and socially awkward". When you go out of the apartment and ocassionally meet your neighbour's 14yr old kid in the corridor and you greet him and ask if he'll lock the door or should you lock it and he never even greets you or replies back that's when you'll know it's something of a greater extent and not just "shyness". My own IRL example. He talks only when HE wants something but you shouldn't even expect a howdy in return when you greet him. It's just like he cannot talk with people at all without a specific goal.
Brilliant explanation 10/10
For those familiar with the MBTI personality types this is what INTPs like myself are like. Socially awkward and just don't comprehend human interactions.
I rented my first apartment and shortly after, started playing this game. I was forever changed. Good times.
That's an experience we all wish we could have. I played it in grandma's basement.
Man I had the same experience..and I remember my apartment's number was the same one in the game lol
@@polfachini6489must be terrified
U alive?
@@lucutes2936 technically yes. How's it going?
Imagine if you went to peep on Eileen and she started to staring back at you through the hole doing that head possessed twitch.
That would be crazy xD Tho if you remember she stares on you for few seconds while sitting on her bed and watching TV. Anyone noticed that? :) I think there was even some note referring to that just before she does it.
Isn’t there a part with Henry staring though his door and see himself staring right back at him and his head was twitching
@@JessicaGarcia-xf9wr yeah but he’s just standing there and plus it’s telegraph by the blood on the peep hole idk how they would have done it but if you just look through wall and that mess popped up outta nowhere would be insane
@@redskydnb holy crap I didn’t even catch that in the game I’m gonna check that out over the weekend
"Better Check on your Neighbor Soon!" yeah that happened to me too.
That tattoo covered a whole cheek, that was not small lol
Yea, but is nice
Computer me would still hit it
I almost missed it.
@@Bonestorm1990 🤣
As soon as I watched the intro cinematic shortly after firing up this game, I knew something was wrong. No music no Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. Just terror. This Silent Hill wasn't just regular darkness, it was advanced darkness.
Not the best Silent Hill but definitely the most disturbing.
Walter Sullivan is still in my nightmares...
The most disturbing indeed, the ghost where really scary
Ronald Vergara
Scary and annoying too!
Best silent hill and very unique.
@@nanamitouko949 Yes, the best Silent Hill. The absolute epitome of the franchise.
Actually the though of your home hurting you scared me the most becasue I am an introvert and don't like going out. In front of all since it was healing you at the first half. The next one scaring me like that was Silent Hill with the school area.
EXTRA NOTE:
If you crank up the volume in that room with Eileens head then under that prominent heavy breathing, you can hear very sexual moans. That room has a few implications
:0
True-also ties in with the hole in the wall that Henry uses to spy on Eileen. . .
Tsuboyama: "Hmm... Henry's brown shirt blends into the mostly-grey environment too much."
Ito: "Let's give him a grey shirt."
Tsuboyama: "Fuggin genius"
LOGIC
Someone should mod the brown shirt back in now that it's on gog, would be easier. Already have a 60fps patch since gog dropped its version, mod so we don't have to model swap anyways.
Fucking*
Ito wasn't involved in this game. Henry's creator is Naomi Hara. She said in an interview that henry is supposed to be a window for the player to witness the story, that's why he is so bland, on purpose. Also white kinda suits his role as receiver of wisdom. And to be honest, that beta outfit made him look more like a creep IMO hahaha
Henry look like Harry from silent hill 1 in brown shirt.
More than “proudly waving (the chainsaw) around”, Henry is actually referencing another movie while he rocks the chainsaw above his head: Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That move is actually one of Leatherface’s more recognizable moments. So you can add that to the list as yet another movie reference ;)
Immediately when I saw that I was wondering why that wasn’t in the movie reference part. It’s so iconic! But I can understand. Not everybody would know that lol glad I wasn’t the only person that noticed though
@@purpledragon2442 its mostly a reference from the Sequel tho
Augusto Schimizzi true. Leather does more of the hip jiggles in the second one. I forgot that in my original comment.
I see it more as an Evil Dead reference
I'm surprised they didn't include this
I miss the 2000's. I'm a 91 baby and love my childhood that was the mid 2000's. This game scared the shit out of me back in the day lol.
Yeah, 90 baby here. '99-07 are my nostalgic years now. Among other great things from this era, all the best Silent Hill games were released. We were born at the right time!
Same, I was born in '91 and my birthday was yesterday.
@@Justmyhandle 🎂🍧🥂🍻
"Probably too mature for a game at that time"
Didnt silent hill 2 have a subplot about how angela was raped multiple times by her father and brother, and her mom told her she deserved it, or was that just a dream or something?
Ikr? I also remember that! And isn't there a cutscene where pyramid head is raping one of those nurses in a kitchen while you hide in a closet? Thats one messed up but great game!
@@elthingy2665 he wasnt really "raping" it as much as he was mimicking a sexual act. Theres no penetration. But its still spooky as hell, especially when you look into what pyramid head represents in sh2.
@@elthingy2665 it was a mannequin
Yes and her fathers and brother body in the burning house where there genitalia is cut off.. also when she is in the one room and beating the monster was supposedly her dad and the holes in the wall reepresented how many times she was raped. That game was dark asf and refreshing and original to horror genre no game has not passed there standards..
Alluding to something is much easier to get through potential censorship issues than depicting something is.
"changed since he blended into the background too much"... Yeah, that pretty much sums up Henry.
That spinning sphere reminded me of the last scene in 13 ghosts
Henry's grey shirt, for me, really adds to the overall vibe of the game than the brown one.
It looked simple, lifeless. Paired with Henry's demeanor, it blends to the level of eerie vibes and creepiness you get.
underrated gem in the series,my second favorite after sh2
tüm seride bitirmediğim tek oyun dördüncü. abi ne bileyim acaip bi iticiliği var kontroller zor envanter sistemi hoşuma gitmiyor.
Silent Hill 1 en güzeli bence, öyküsü sağlam, karakterleri sağlam, PS1 grafiklerinin bu zamana bakaraktan düşük olması oyunu dahada korkunç yapmış. Oyundaki lokasyonlarda tam oturmuş...
Henry was a character that I can easily relate to even at times to be considered uncanny from lifestyles, how we interact with others, handling situations, and always being caught in the middle of something AKA the unluckiest person in a situation.
Big King Mood saying this is your favorite SH game. It's definitely the scariest imo, the fact that you can't kill the scariest enemies makes for a constant feeling of dread, and the Water Prison is so fucking dark I had to stop playing for few days after finishing that level. Personally I like the story from SH 2 better, and I still think it's the best one, but SH4 definitely feels like the most adult, and darkest entry in the series.
The ghost did they job this time . Scary as shit lol
Iam Afraid of 3
I’d be interested in seeing a video on why Silent Hill 4 is your favorite. It seems like SH 4 catches much flak for not following some of the formulas from SH 2, but I think 4 is an interesting, often overlooked installment.
Also, I appreciate you uploading videos in the morning. There is nothing quite as satisfying as cooking eggs and listening to some trivia on my favorite forlorn vacation town.
Aww that's an awesome visual haha.
And yeah I may do a video on it because I realized while making this video that I have a lot to say about it! It's really under appreciated
@@InkRibbon it's also my favorite and I love Henry
I'm pretty sure that the message "there was a hole here it's gone now" is a reference to the first Silent hill, when a flying monster go through the window in the bar in the beginning of the game
Makes no sense but ok boomer.
Different buildings tho. The monster flew through a Caffe window not the bar.
There was a hole behind a cabinet in silent hill 1. Harry and Cybil Tissue Box Bennet have something to do with it but I have not played it in years so I forgot why they were there. I think it was in a antique shop? I have always associated that message with that hole for whatever reason.
"Hole in the wall" is an obscure bar.
I thought the machine at the end looked like the machine at the end of 13 ghost.
Shaggy : zoinks hell ghost
I always thought that too
Same here haha was going to mention did anyone remember that from the film.
Yeah, but Event horizon is more of a cult classic.
Well, it’s an armillary sphere, which is a real thing typically used in astrological navigation.
I gotta say that I pretty much really love the character of Eilleen. Like, from the game, I always felt like that one character that represented light and hope. SH4 has very nice characters, and just like somebody else say, Henry is pretty nice and cool.
This is an awesome underrated game.
It was a completely innovative gem and still holds up to it!
The undying ghosts that chase you all the time, the first person perspective while you are in the room, the storyline, Henry's apathy and more are making this game a legend, as also the last of SH true legends!
Marvelous video lad!
Thank god that there are real Silent Hill fans in 2019
Hell yeah 🤘
Not sure if I can call myself a fan since I never played 1,2 (where the hype really is) and homecoming. But I really love this game so much and been binge watching every Silent Hill reviews and documentaries. Lol. Also #fuckonami
Yeah!
Been silent Hill fan for years
At the time the thought of Capcom being a better company who knows how to please their fans, and Konami being a mediocre game company would never crossed my mind, but here we are now. Silent Hill being almost dead after the cancellation of Silent Hills and only having pachinko machines, and Capcom returning to his old glory with the new RE's that are closer to the originals, and pleasing old fans 🤷🏻♂️
Awesome video, SH4 is an underrated masterpiece. The scope of the story is very similar to the first game. When "resting comfortably" plays towards the relevation of Walter is my favorite part of the game.
I loved that game... Is like the tunnel of Ernesto sabato, everyone is connected but everyone is alone.... Is like poetry, the ost, the scenarios... The story of every neighbor.
My favorite silent hill by far....
You can feel the loneliness of henry on the entire game.
"Just like James, he will proudly wave it around."
You enjoy drawing comparisons to movies, yet both times, you seem to miss the fact that this is a direct reference to Leather Face from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I'm kind of disappointed lol.
"Small tattoo"
It covers the entire cheek.
Nice video didn't know alot of these. Also saying that tattoo is small? robbie takes up a whole cheek! Haha
haha yeah I recorded the voiceover before I got the footage and I was like woah
7:42 That makes no sense. He died alone with animals so he has a weapon? That doesn't follow.
@Basil Merza the gentleman simply wants to know how dying with his animals, provided the man in this story with a firearm. Good day. Sir.
Silent Hill is a really specific universe on it's own.
I love it, and it scares me a little bit, that I love it.
Very good Video. Thank you so much. ^^
Also my favorite SH game. I try to get all hauntings in henry's unit then light a candle where it occured and I remember that at a certain point in the game your room is so haunted by ghosts that it depletes your health instead of healing it. My anxiety as a kid was triggered so much because your room was supposed to be your safe haven.
Am i the only one that find those giant nurses hilarious when they burp whenever you hit them? It's especially hilarious when you're going down the stairs, about to leave the hospital after rescuing eileen, there's a bunch of them, and you knock them all down, and they're burping all the way down. Lmao
My favorite Silent Hill, never understood the hate it got. I remember the trailer and it was terrifying.
I found the stun gun by accident completely pretty cool. Got in the habit of randomly using the interact button on everything everywhere from resident evil
Being a huge fan of SH4, I'm telling you now; the stun gun is very effective against enemies like the Twin victims. Yes, you do risk taking damage when attempting to stun, but it does work.
Silent Hill 4 is my personal favorite and the only one to date I've ever completed. It did something different from the previous games by shaking up the setting and plot beyond what the first three games centered themselves around. That obviously upset some people, but a series has to do that sometimes and as long as it's done well there should be no problem with it.
Granted I have watched playthroughs of Silent Hill 1 and 2, as well as getting some of the story from the 3rd game, but I've never beaten any but 4 mostly thanks to my brother buying a copy and, being too much of a coward to play it himself (even as a grown-ass man), pretty much expected me to do it all. I did. Enjoyed it thoroughly. The ghosts are a fun and equally terrifying concept, with several having their own terrifying strengths, and the game lets you pick and choose which ones to pin to make sure they can't stalk you later on in the game. I really enjoyed that aspect and it's something you won't see in the other Silent Hill titles. Imagine if you were stalked by more than Pyramid Head in 2 and one enemy in particular was too difficult for you and your skills at playing the game, so you find a rare item in the game that lets you pin that monster permanently and be free of it. It doesn't really work in the other games since there's only *one* target that stalks you like that, at least in 2, but it's unique.
The bosses are relentless and you don't just face them in a single arena each time, you have to run from them constantly throughout the level. Technically there are only two bosses in the game and you do fight them in arenas, but the way the ghosts work and the fact that they can never truly die makes them at least mini-bosses, if not ascended to the same tier.
Who hasn't played SH4 and not been scared shitless?!. The ghosts, the hauntings in the apartment... under rated game!
(It's funny, my brother's father's names are Jimmy Stone)
kimberly s are you kidding me? That game always scared the crap out of me. It’s scarier than fatal frame
@@amirulezfhan1284 Dead ghost Henry at the peep hole with his eyes gauged out was really unsettling. (I love Japanese horror)
01/21
This is actually my second favorite SH game (number 3 being the first). There are so many little details you can find. I have spent so much time just looking out the apartment window at all the random stuff.
3:50 I have been playing silent hill for nearly 20 years! First time being scared!!
Silent Hill 4 is also my favorite, such an underrated masterpiece
6:45, me after the 5th beer
This is by far the best SH game in my opinion, this and the original. In my opinion Team Silent knew they had to step their game up and really knocked this out of the park. The music is ridiculously good, the small references, the interaction between the dream world and reality, this is psychological horror done perfect. The build ups, the pay offs, the weirdness.. the reporter upside down in the ceiling talking to you, when you find Walter... all of it. Not super fond of going through each area twice but... overall I give this game a perfect 10/10
SH4s connection to the "There was a hole here" is retroactive, similar to how Walter's name appeared in that game. It isnt evidence they started planning it then (before even 3 lol)
That chainsaw waving is a reference to Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
(But I'm sure, everybody knows that. I'm just good at stating the obvious.)
Silent Hill 4 is actually my favorite game of all time and I'm really glad that SH4 is also your favorite
I just wish the monsters in SH4 hadn't used those stock sound effects. And did those Patients *have* to belch?!
Yeah it definitely didn't help the games otherwise excellent atmosphere. Then again the static whining the ghosts made and the silence of Room 302, that was downright bone chilling.
Agreed. The sounds those dogs make when they died was kind of embarrassing. Also Henry's groan when he dies.
It's already been two years since you released this! Amazing how time flies. It'd be great if you could play a SH game on stream someday.
I expected this video to be just another SH facts and secrets video but hell it contains brilliant info that I never knew about SH4. Thanks for making this video.
I love Silent Hill 4: The Room. Thanks for the easter eggs Ink Ribbon I didn't know about some of them like Henry's other outfit and the all weapons mode.
I enjoyed this and also, thanks for promoting the other channel.
This was the only Silent Hill game that disturbed me has a child.
heh same

Hi there. I really love your channel and consider it incredibly underrated. You are a really good presenter and are very meticulous with your information. Thanks for all the uploads.
Thank you! It took me 4 days to make this video 😭✨
Original Henry model looks like a Harry Mason skin. I imagine that also factored into their decision to change it.
Yeeeees !!!!!
Silent Hill 4 !!! My favorite one as well, Henry and Eileen are such wonderful characters.
Also, how do I feel like Henry when I met him for the first time.
Also, my favorite of the soundtracks as well !!!
Also ! Thanks very much for this video it's means a lot to me S2
Amazing video! I bet this will become viral soon. I just subscribed hoping to watch more quality content!
You've done a great job! All your other videos are fascinating too! I've played almost all the Silent Hill and Resident Evil games, SH4 is my favourite in the series as well. Walter's story really made me feel sorry for him. I'm so happy that people are still paying attention to this game. It's such a pity that Konami doesn't remake SH like Capcom does to RE.
By the way, you can actually see the sixth victim in the game :). He's the doll on the wheelchair in Forest World 2nd time. The text and the murder location matches too.
And Rachael's boyfriend indeed is the painter in 202, but he is not Mike. Mike is in 301, stalking Rachael at that time, only Sunderland mistakenly thought Mike was her lover. Also, the woman's voice in the cassette is the woman in 102. She took the dirty clothes to wrap her dead cat killed by the gun maniac in 101.
About Walter, there are so many documents in the game tell about how he created his own world with the power of the 21 sacraments. And most importantly, the victim files stated that George Rosten succeeded in having valtiel sneaked into Walter's mind. That could explain why I guess~
And finally, about Henry, there is a silent hill symbolism video on Henry made by thegamingmuse. I think her video may give you a different perspective on him.
You're the man, Kai! The Silent Hill series is my most favorite series and I LOVE Silent Hill 4, definitely my most favorite entry. After studying this game since it first came out, I just learned some fun new facts from this video.
In silent hill 3 you can find an article written by Joseph Schreiber talking about the wish house orphanage and the water prison from sh4.
Other secrets :
1 - When you apartment is no longer safe, if you look through the window, there's a chance that you'll see a head falling in front of you (probably from a ghost).
2 - You can see a Robbie hot air ballon if you look through the window
3 - After entering the Building World, if you inspect the toilet, Henry notice something stuck into it and the game will give you an option to pick the thing, but he comments that he's "not brave enough to do it". Probably referencing that moment in SH2 where James picks an item from a toilet.
4 - The Saint Medallion actually depicts "Saint Alessa" with a baby (Heather).
Eileen's injuries probably heal completely if she is saved from Walter's otherworld. If not, the injuries remain and she dies from them. Simple as that.
Also, my theory on the "There was a hole here, it's gone now" is that the hole existed for Joseph Shreiber when he was being targeted as the Giver of Wisdom. After he was killed, the hole went away. I also believe he's the one who delivered Mary's letter to James. It would fit with his theme as the Giver of Wisdom.
Thats an interestinf theory i wonder if the dates line up
Silent Hill 4 The Room is my favorite one as well. Thanks for clearing up that first rumor. I will definitely to get the Unlock All Weapons mode.
The thing you missed us that Henry didn't forget about his shoes by default but this is shown as a pattern as you progress through the game. During the first moments, he remembers pretty well about them.
Great video man. Sh4 was my first Silent hill and definitely the most scariest imo. I mean, the trailer alone shown at e3 2004 still gives me chills. I discovered RODOLFO months back when he showed the cut animations of Eileen peep hole. Crazy stuff. Glad he got a shout out the man definitely deserves it. In the E3 trailer when they showed a glimpse of the twin victims charging at you while they screamed with a very terrifying baby scream. I heard it was cut out of the American version of the game but still has it in the Japanese version. Might be rumors but definitely something to think about.
Holy I can never look at Brandon Fraser again. Also Good video ! Loved to learn about those !
Nice video dude! In some part of this game, the door's peephole starts bleeding and what you see in other side scared the hell out of me hahahahah
A few years ago i found a website with some fantastic theory that all the events across all 4 games take place inside the players head...they aren't actually in 'silent hill' but they create it.
Too much to go through here but some points. All characters have suffered mentally in different ways.. for Harry its loss of his daughter, james its the murder of Mary, heather - it's Harrys suicide (which i'll come to later) and then of course Henry... a lonely man with mental illness, likely to be the real murderer who locks himself in his appartment then creates Walter and the world around him in his mind.
Going back to Heather briefly, Harry was dead at the start, she created a denial scenario, never called the authorities out of panic and created Douglas to look for her to atone.
As i said it was a fascinating article which goes way more indepth across all 4 games and characters than i can here. I will try and find it again and link below.
A couple of final points, theres lots to suggest Heathers a patient in an asylum, Henry is a virgin and has an unhealthy obsession with Eileen, James has no remorse and Harry never had a wife and may have stolen his daughter.
Truly fascinating
@XDranzer000 Yep. And Harry Mason was murdered by The Order and Douglas Cartland was hired by the Order by Claudia. Claudia had a feeling Heather was coming for her.
that actually seems like a good theory if you think about it
Walter being in SH2 was a left over piece of theming from the original script of that game. Early on, the team was toying with dualities within the story, which is why we get Maria and Mary, as originally, James was going to also have hints at a doppelgänger in the form of Joseph but that was scrapped and the character of Joseph was reworked into a patient at Brookhaven.
Also, You can heal Eileen with the candles.
I found this video a few hours ago and now I can't stop watching.... I really like your content since Resident Evil and Silent Hill are miy favorite video game sagas. New sub bro, keep doing such good videos.
Great channel. You just got a new sub!
Bought the game 5-6 year ago but never had enough motivation to start it.
I just might play it (and have nightmares) because of your video
Tanks :]
When talking about movie references, I'm really surprised that you didn't mention that the thing that both Henry and James do with the chainsaw, where they wave it about their head, is actually a reference to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Lol you blew my mind with #2 never knew walter was modeled after Brendan frasier
Just found your channel, and it's amazing!
Damm brings back nightmares I had when I was kid from this game lol I remember being so terrified with the lady with long hair “swimming” on the floor, chasing you.. and of course so much more disturbing things that other horror games lacked. I guess that’s the reason why I really liked SH4.
Silent Hill 4 is my favorite as well! It's definitely underappreciated.
Brandon Fraser was the most surprising secret for me haha
Great video! 👍
Silent Hill 4 has always been my favorite. I could never understand why most people consider it subpar. It definitely had the most interesting story and was generally scarier than the previous entries imo. Walter was the most in depth antagonist and the things that made it different from the other titles, like the first person mode and the ghost enemies are what made the game feel special and unique. Thanks for another great video and glad to know your favorite entry is the same as mine.
Maybe the fighting system and the low riddle dificutly. It is also far different than the previous. Still it is a true Team Silent game.
Love SH4 but SH3 is definitely the scariest one.
SH4 is definitely underrated. I used to complain about Henry rarely talking and having no personality, but then I realized that they intentionally made him that way so that we, the players, can immerse ourselves into the game more and react in our own way. Henry is like an empty shell that we can step into and fill in the blanks with our own dialogues and reactions. Capcom did the same thing with Ethan Winters in RE7.
Another great video. You make the best easter egg/secret videos
Great content as always 🤘
12:24 Is there a full version of that song? It makes me very nostalgic.
I haven't heard that version with a soft voice and music, but there are a couple version of that song, search for it as "Your rain - Silent Hill 4" you should be able to find it, there is a dance version game were Cynthia is shown as in a music video, but i like another version with sort of heavy drums, kind of nice.
Remember "Your rain".
Finally! Thank you for making this video. Highly appreciated. ;)
I always get confused when people mention the "there was a hole here, it's gone now" thing in regards to SH4 - isn't this wall in SH2 actually the bar window facing the street, just covered in newspaper? Or is my memory playing a trick on me? Wouldn't make much sense to place a hole/tunnel there...
late reply lol but anyways, yeah i do see your point. However, In SH4 when you’re going down the spiral staircase into every world for the second time, there’s always a hole to go back to the apartment before entering to next “world2”. but it’s just a wall, you can even see behind the wall it’s nothing yet there still is that hole. So in my theory there most definitely could have been a whole where that writing is in SH2 at some point, and you wouldn’t even be able to see it from the outside anyways.
Ah finally. Silent Hill 4 is one of my fondest memory games. Between this game and Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly on xbox I kept myself sleepless.
The art style of that fan ending looks very similar to this five or six part CZcams mini series I was a huge fan of years ago! I forgot their name but it was of a regular joe who puts on a cardboard box on their head and cape and they become Supervillain! It was really well animated. The theme song was a remix of In The Hall Of The Mountain King.
EDIT: That artist I’m thinking of is Barfquestion.
Enjoyed the video! Thank You!
You make the kind of videos i wish i could :(
The fact a SH4 vid was made this recently gets a thumbs up from me.Awesome video. New supporter here.
4:50 i thought the stun gun was so good as a weapon! Mainly against the Gum heads and dogs, perhaps the twin victims too. The stun gun one shots enemies to their downed state (with the exception of the ghosts) to be stomped on. Granted, you have to be kinda quick stomping, but it has helped me SO much in my New Fear playthroughs.
The spinning spiky thing looks a lot like the thing at end of Thirteen Ghosts too
Dunno if anyone mentioned it, but woman talking during "Skinned Mike" tape is most likely NOT Rachel - it's the owner of poor, unfortunately dead cat from some other room. (Spoiler ahead?) One of the hauntings included hearing meowing in Henry's room and upon investigation, you could find bloody, twitching body inside the fridge, belonging to the poor thing. Apparently, kitty got shot by other neighbour and distressed owner put the body in her fridge, covering it with Mike's jeans. That's why she said "It'll be perfect to wrap his body in".
Nice, insightful video nonetheless! Good job! Apart from Silent Hill 3 intro nothing got me scared on similar level as Silent Hill 4. Not the best plot wise, but surely the most haunting and straight up creepy game from the series.
I'm always watching you...
I... will be seeing you in my nightmares. Or a Silent Hill 4 playthrough whichever I get to first.
My first silent hill game that I finished and the most tryhard game I've ever done. Just to get that good ending.
Nice video by the way!
Dunno if it's common knowledge or not, but there's actually a way to heal Eileen during the otherworld apartment near the end of the game. IIRC, once you reached the lobby, you could place a holy candle on the floor there and Eileen's incurred damage over the course of your playthrough will heal as you wait, making it easier to get a better ending if you seriously fucked up taking care of her. And yes, it does work, I did it myself several times. I haven't played SH4 in about ten years or so, so I forget the exact specifics, but I'm pretty sure I'm at least in the ballpark.
Note that it only heals the damage she's taken since joining Henry. The injuries she gets from having the shit kicked out of her by Walter remain. Obviously, since that would require a change of character model instead of just gradually removing the battle damage textures.
Sh4 always reminded me of that rear window movie ,and as far as i remember Henry mentions that too....
Thanks for the video. Great details indeed.
15:56 Fun Fact: This animation is an homage to Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
