    Can an adjuster out-source their reports, have someone unlicensed type them up? Like an attorney would a paralegal? I have 15 years construction experience but live out the country now and looking for side work.

    The year hasn’t even ended, I already got over 150k this year. Property claims adjuster is brutal so become stronger in order to make this happen.

      Randall Ruel I just finished up with Harvey. Do you have any solid connects? I’m needing to get back in the game

      I'm still working on Harvey claims myself, but having to deal with contractors & Public Adjusters.
      Honestly, like what are you currently. Independent Adjuster? Staff Adjuster?
      Here's a clue to finding more work, ask the company your with to allow you to travel to other states. Hail season is coming up and if your not familiar with it, it's just roofers and roof inspection.
      I usually ask the company i'm with to send me out of state and knock out 30 claims in that first week. New mexico is really great with hail storms. That area is popular and happens very early in the year.
      You just stated that you just finished up with Harvey claims. I'm assuming your from Texas?
      Ask your company to ship you out of state and tackle hail claims. Most if the time its either a full roof replacement or not. In and outta there in no time.
      Work for a week or 2, back to back sunday to sunday. It won't disappoint. If you got lucky and joined thru this first storm then , you will be okay.
      I can name a couple of IA firms, but that would not be a smart move if you just started Harvey as your first year.

      I can give the steps and also what is not needed, as some of the videos online taunt that you must do this this and that to get in. Depending on what state you are in or wanting to work in, legally you will be ready quickly but finding a company that will take you in is hard. A hurricane Event is a good route to get in with no issues. Message me and I give you more details.

      -Ramon Marlow
      Florida is a Tough area to start, theres a Bunch or Contractors and PA's in the state. You can't even do an inspection unless they are they with and basically try and tell you what they want to replaced or they will continue to
      The reason why I say you must travel, is because if you are in a company or wanting to join a company. Obviously tell them you are wiling to travel. They love to here that, they have daily adjustesr that cover certain regions. For instance I live in San Antonio Texas.
      After my first storm, hurricane Matthews, i came home with no work. Told my company what the heck, give me something, i am willing to travel wherever.
      They told me okay, 2 days later i had about 40 claims in my box from el paso texas - all the way up to Albuquerque New mexico, Nothing but wind/hail claims. The adjuster who covered that area went on vacation for 2 weeks. This gave me work for those 2 weeks.
      The company liked my work done there, so they began to keep feeding me claims.
      When Starting on a low budget, yes it is very tough, but if you survive and get your first check, you will be amazed and it will give the motivation you need.
      Just make sure you obtain the proper photos you need, so you don't have to go back from a re-inspection. That's a waste of time and money.

      Yeah, my start up was the same way man, no experience.
      I begged the company to put me on their roster, they allowed me to come onboard.
      I went on a 5 hr ride along with n adjuster which helped out.
      I recommend making friends with adjuster who will allow to you drive for them. Get paid and learn how to handle claims.
      Keep in mind they have lives too so find someone who won't be annoyed by your presence.
      Observed what they are doing.
      Honestly the videos they have online are really poorly taught.
      These are videos about putting you down and you can't do it.
      First you need to teach yourself about houses and all the items that are used. And also what they are called. After that find what is damaged, take measurements of the room. take photos of the damages you found and make sure you take pictures of all the damages the home owner is claiming damage to..
      Next step is to caption your photos, write up an estimate for the damages, and do a report about what kind of damage you found and how it occurred.
      When you get the hang of it, those are the 3 steps.
      Set up Inspection date
      Inspections
      Write Reports

    Was pretty solid until you got to the end. Can agree with all 5 major pitfalls. It's even worse now that the tax code has changed too. You can't write off your deployment expenses anymore as W-2. Gotta be 1099 deployed. Good luck to all IAs working anything not flood away from their home base.
    Also, IA training courses that you have to pay for are a dime a dozen.

    One mans treasure is an"another mans junk, I have seen "high earners" waste in a casino half or more of what I was making in a whole month (hmm, divorce and AA followed, guess the person wasn't really all that). • @alexbaca8705
      @alexbaca8705 Před 5 lety

      I agree always network until you get hired with a reputable firm. Once then, once your work proven, that firm will keep you busy no matter what, Since your extremely valuable. A lot of new cat adjusters on their 1st storm can’t handle the stress. I’ve seen many cry, quit, disappear, jump firms...now, I’ve never dealt with auto. I’ve always worked IA for SF property: WCCS or CAT. But I can tell you this. It is a lucrative job... you just have to put your part. And no wining.

    I am considering making a career change and am looking at becoming a cat adjuster. I have my $2000 startup cash and a few connections in the industry. I can take on some side jobs when I'm off to make a little extra cash, but I need at least $50k in annual income to make it. I don't mind taking day claims, although I'm not sure what licensure I need for that.

    • @nitrochaney1026
      @nitrochaney1026 Před 6 lety +2

      You can easily make 50k a year. With the hurricanes recently you should be able to make $25,000 a month. You probably need 3-4000 start up however

    • @randallruel7859
      @randallruel7859 Před 6 lety +3

      2,000 is good enough. As long as you a reliable car and 2,000, you will survive. Buy cheap work supplies and work hard on a tight budget, you can make it happen.

    • @nitrochaney1026
      @nitrochaney1026 Před 6 lety

      Randall Ruel depending on how far you travel you can spend $700 before you even arrive. You won't get paid the first week due to a waiting week (most employers) also you may not get paid upon closing the claim. You sometimes get paid after the carrier pays your employer. That can take 3 weeks minimum. So let's just say that it's two weeks before you get paid:
      Travel from Florida to California- $700
      Food three times a day - $40 per day - $560
      Travel to assignments - 125 a week = 250
      Hotels (average holiday inn express) 120 a night w/taxes and fees - 1640
      Misc expenses 50 a week - 100
      Continued bills at home, yes they will still roll in..... so the total is 3500 NOT COUNTING your basic bills that do not go away. You can cut corners, sure but you can see that $2,000 will be pretty tight.

      If I can do it, anybody can.
      I started in 2008 and did not do another storm for two years.
      Then got one good storm and agreed to work clean up.
      Starved now and then and I did have to do other work to fill in from time to time.
      Just cracked 100K doing day claims in my home state and the summer storms
      Took ten years and three vehicles
