      So it looks like with the new tax plan (no personal exemption) from last year adjusters can no longer really right off a bunch of expenses anymore, truck drivers also similarly affected...how has this affected you? I'm married so the standard deduction is $24k which is a lot.

    Listen, bottom line is this...as an adjuster for properties you can expect to make between 200-1000 per claim. The lower number is for easy claims. The higher number is for full adjustments (this is a lot of work). During storms, everything changes. I last made 1000 per claim during Irma. The money is good only if you can get claims. It’s very hard as a new adjuster to get claims on a daily basis. During storms, it’s pretty easy. But expect to be cut off after month one.

      No worries! The two main things to remember with all of this storm adjuster stuff are: 1. it depends almost entirely on the weather. So if there's nothing going on, then we're all sitting around waiting. Don't quit your day job until you get the call. 2. You just have to make it through your FIRST storm. If you hit it out of the park on your first one, then getting deployed again (and again and again) is MUCH easier.
      It's a great gig, but the income is extremely variable depending on what Mother Nature is up to. But if you stick with it and can be adaptable, the rewards can be really great. Good luck!

    This is great information, thank you. I've been straddling the line of getting my CDL to be an owner operator or getting my adjusters license, to be an independent contractor here in Texas doing auto and property. I've done disaster home inspections for FEMA through Vanguard which is where I met several independent adjusters. Thank you for this👍

    I am looking to get deployed. This would be my first time. Do you have videos for the first timers what to do and not do? Are you not assigned a trainer if its your first storm?

    • @v_rapture_v
      @v_rapture_v Před 5 lety +1

      I'd reccomend getting your statefarm certification, and you'll have managers that should be able to help you once deployed but they'll be helping other people too, I'd reccomend taking an xactimate course so you can write an estimate and sketch properly before starting (wish I wouldve). Also sign up with as many good independent firms as you can. When a big storm such as a hurricane is about to hit, call them and ask about getting deployed, if it's big enough and u call enough firms, one of them will deploy you.

    I'm extremely interested in this occupation.
    How would you recommend I begin my journey in this field?

    • @AdjusterTV
      @AdjusterTV  Před 5 lety +3

      Hey, Hayden.. Well, there are a lot of resources and a lot of ways to jump in.. But I think the simplest thing to do is to get on social media - you can jump into my facebook group at facebook.com/groups/adjustertv - and start making relationships. Your objective is to pair up with an experienced adjuster who will let you job shadow them for a couple of days on their next deployment so you can see what it is we do.
      If you're beyond that stage and you're ready to go all-in.. Then you'll want to pick up your home state adjuster license.
      After that..

    Is there a major difference between a Texas vs Florida all lines adjuster license?

    • @AdjusterTV
      @AdjusterTV  Před 5 lety +1

      Hey Taymon.. if your question wasn’t answered already: they’re the top two licenses u should probably get. But Texas will probably keep u busier generally speaking because large hail is more common in Texas than any other state. But when hurricanes hit, Florida is a good one to have. If you don’t have a home state license, these are good ones to get. Indiana is also a good one to get first.

      Adjuster TV So you can go to any state to do claims only as a CAT adjuster?

    • @AdjusterTV
      @AdjusterTV  Před 6 lety +1

      Yes. However, some states have a much higher frequency of cat events - primarily Texas and the Midwest. Hail damage is what we make most of our money on. Every few years there’s a hurricane so then it’s the coastal states. Or a wildfire, which are the western states generally.
      If your wondering where to start getting licenses, I’d start with Texas, Oklahoma, and Minnesota. The rest of the Midwestern states including Colorado don’t have a license requirement. You can add licenses at any time later.
