Learning more about sound design than from any other youtubers
not even from Jr Alli?
RBVisuals so trueeeee

@@kinzzkulture9229 the comment was valid that time :D
this will be an authentic coment.
i'm a begginner in filmmaking, and i'm always trying to learn new stuff, and, i wish i had the chance to saw this video earlier. Today was the day that i delivered a product to a client, it was for free, i was just trying to make portfolio so i worked for free. i made the shots, edited everything through 2 days, but now, 2 hours after sending the final product to the client, i noticed that i could've done really better just by taking the time to make sound design.
this video really opened my eyes, so i wanted to let you know that ur content was really appreciated by someone, thank you for making this video and giving me the advice to improve as a filmmaker in general, as always Daniel, you're doing amazing
That's what it's all about man! Adding pieces to the puzzle one step at a time.Glad you're enjoying the content. 💪
just keep in mind.. you always getting better with what you do regularly.. so, i could bet that your video was perfect for one year ago. Now you would do it better, next year you would do it even better than today. I am in the complete same situation right now. Im a beginner filmmaker, who is currently doing the first video for free for a client to build up an own portfolio 😊I know how you felt
Hello, It has been 2 years now, how are you doing as a filmmaker ? :)
@@lostSempaiWissame me? 🙈
Was ready to roll my eyes at yet another "sound design" video. But man you never fail to bring new ideas to the table. Well worth the watch.
“Let me guess another stock sound effect website that costs 50$ every month”
**sees Daniel with tape
“This man is a legend”
Well, most of his videos are ads for plug-ins, software and various websites :/
@@Albanez39 Well, in this one he shared two FREE sound packs.
As a skateboarder I personally connected with this video. The sound effects are incredible, but it was even more impressive seeing the behind the scenes. Such clever use of everyday objects to make sounds that fit perfectly with the skate shop footage.
Fantastic break down Daniel! Sound design is an CORE part of building my film/doc edits from the ground up. You've got some really USEFUL tips in there including going the extra mile for the foley. I try to capture the audio on scene, but sometimes you don't have full control over the environment OR you really want to isolate and capture a clean sound and the ACTUAL sound isn't strong enough. You should see how much gun shots get modified ;).
I will often group sound effects together that have no direct relation to the actual source, but create a more interesting sound experience than the original. Kind of like what you did with the turning of the screwdriver to get that clicking sound, just makes that shot pop.
I do a lot in my edits for audio, but when I sit in the final mix with the audio guys, they really do take it to that NEXT level. It's amazing watching them work and IMHO sound design is one of the strongest elements that elevates a film.
Another good tip is to keep a very detailed library of sound effects, I've got DRIVES FULL of them that i've been collecting since 2002. They make amazing scene to scene cut points as well. Tense dialog scene ends and a phone ringing triggers the cut to the next scene. You'll see it in all films, there's almost always a sound element that triggers a cut to a new scene. No transitions, no wides, just a straight cut combined with a strong sound element. Helps keep the flow of the narrative moving when you don't want to grind the pace of the film to a halt.
Sorry for the essay, really digging the detail and valuable takeaway/process you've showcased in this video. This is pro level stuff done in a VERY relatable way. The HOW AND (most importantly) the WHY we do this stuff nicely covered.
Nice work.
Wow! Thanks for the comment, Mark! So true, the impact sound has on videos is totally unrelated. I'm hoping audio becomes a "cooler" or more popular topic in the CZcams era of "filmmaking" as it feels like its often neglected. And yeah you're right about not having full control over the environment in certain scenes. In my case, the skateshop was a very brief shoot- didn't have time to set up audio equipment and there was a lot of background noise in the shop which would've made it difficult to really isolate the individual sounds. Thanks for watching, looking forward to meeting up one of these days!
I liked your sounds better anyway ;) skate shops don’t sound thay good. I hear you about making audio cool, this video is definitely a step in the right direction.
My interest was peaked on the audio side of things recently from a convo I had with an old high school friend. Still super early but i’ll pitch iit if it we can develpe it a bit more. Still pretty early in the strategy of it, but it’s...really cool 😎
Daniel Schiffer Where do you get your Music from
Daniel Schiffer Your music always Sounds so good and they have cool vibes that draws The viewers attention
i keep coming back to this video and woow on how you are such an amazing filmmaker!
it's them little stuff that you add to make the films more complete, beautiful work
The attention to detail in this video is through the roof! I think sound design is super important and often over looked especially in the world of CZcams. Thanks for this succinct tutorial!
This is my biggest struggle being new at filming. Daniel, i've watched other videos on this topic, including Peter's and yours is by far is the best. It was SO helpful and i'm now amped to try it out. Thank you so much for this tutorial! Love your work, congrats on 100K and can't wait for the next video.
Awesome job Daniel... Never a dull lesson on your channel! Be well, stay encouraged, and Encouraging!
Thanks Jacob!
You are more than welcome Daniel... Keep the awesome tutorials coming!

Wow this was actually epic
Thanks Haley!!
Hey Daniel, absolutely mind-blowing tutorial. Can you pls do me a favor and tell me what font are you using for the SANCTION title because it looks sickkk. Thx
Indeed it is. Daniel is a BOSS
Damn your sound design on that B-Roll is killer dude!
The attention to detail is admirable. I just realized one of the reasons why I subscribed. Great work as always!
Your dedication to your work is remarkable. Just came across your channel - loving it. Keep it up!
The B-Roll sequence was amazing 👌👌
Thanks for watching!
OMG this is sooo smart! Did not expect the BYO Sound effects. Very smart!
Very well done! Tons of value in this video. Your overall direction was fantastic.
Dude.. that was MASSIVE! Thank you very much!
Creative Ryan whoosh pack for the win!! Sound design is just as important as the actual video. People should understand you don’t have to get the audio on scene & that’s where foley comes in! Great video.
Subscribed. This guy goes into depth on the best topics to step up your filmmaking more than any other CZcamsr.
Wow,this is so good. The sounds are so dead on when you are watching that video, love it!
Just found your channel, binge watched, I like that you are to the point with no extra crap. Great info. Subscribed.
Make such a great difference, makes you feel like you are there. Great video Daniel!
Dude, I am so glad I found your channel...Finally, a FCPX channel that explains clear and concise tips and tricks. I have learned more in just 2 videos, can't wait to see the rest. You rock, brother...keep em coming!
so many great ideas, thanks!
Your videos have been so helpful!! My friends and family have noticed a difference in my work. Thank you!!
So good! I really appreciate your work from the start to the finish! So good!
This is by far the most helpful and detailed sound design video I've found so far. Thank you for posting, also for your other tips in the Time to Create series. I'm slowly working my way through them all. :)
Thank you for covering this topic! I was one of those who suggested it because I was editing at the time and found myself struggling. That tip on the ambience layer is really helpful, and making your own foley sounds-never thought of that! Definitely learned a lot! Thank you always! 🙌🏻
Your post skills are so awesome. Thanks for always putting out epic content!
Another killer video! It’s good to see these little things to tweak up our videos.
Ripper vid Daniel! This has given me more to think about as I begin my CZcams adventure. Thanks!
Love it!!! noticed the sfx in the first few seconds! This is what I do with my car cinematography. It makes it more action packed and can feel the mechanical sounds of the car.
Dude. That was amazingly helpful!! YOU ARE SO GOOD AT SHARING INFORMATION!! THANK YOU!!
i watch a lot of tutorials. yours have a particular pleasantness to them and most importantly don’t feel like another sales pitch. great work you’re very talented!
Been doing this for years and you managed to inspire me to go harder with sound. Very valuable. Good shit bro
Yessss, great work, very creative with your sound design!!!
Dude this is soooooo good! i love sound design 😍 ill FOR SURE keep in mind these 3 layers of sound you've explained in the future! such an epic sub conscious effect!
Great. Amazing to experience the details behind clips like this one. Very cool how you explain all this. Thanks for sharing.
This video gets a massive thumbs up from me. Thank you for breaking down these great tips Daniel. They are very helpful for a beginner video maker
That’s neat. Thanks for sharing this. When explained like this you can’t deny the results of sound design!
Just can’t get enough of your tutorials... Enlightening! Thanks for sharing your talent!
Thank you for breaking this for us Danijel. ^^ Love that you record your own special effect sounds, I will definitely try the same thing. 😊
THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED TO WATCH, killer pointers as always, and constant inspiration, thanks Danny man
Youre so good. Legit get your sound effects like they do in the movies.
the way you make your own sounds is genius, and can be considered an art in itself. Probs to you man!
Dude! Exceptional breakdown of this regularly overlooked element of film making. Thanks for a great tutorial. I am a big exponent of capturing natural sound, but am less good at the sound fx / foley side. Watching the video again without the sound fx was so interesting. It gives it so much more depth and texture. Loved seeing how you create your own - and how simple it was. Am going to give it a try on my next project for sure! Keep up the great work, loving your videos.
Holy crap this was incredible!! Love how much work you put into your videos Daniel! Keep up the great work because I am hungry for more content from you 🔥🔥🔥
Dude. I was an editor in Hollywood for 18 years and... I wish I'd seen this video 18 years ago! Fabulous man. Just killer.
Love your foley recording setup. So easy. I wast so much time hunting the web for sounds effects! This is a game changer for me.
I love ur content!! I just passed my exams and I am going to a videography school. I made a few short movies but when I see your shots I see that there’s so much to learn about this crafting and I am getting so pumped when I see your explanation videos. because of this I am able to bring my future videos to another level.
just started following today, love the content!
Glad to have you on board Johan!
As always, fantastic content. Love the idea of recording sound design on your own. Gotta try it out!
Definitely give it a go! It's really satisfying (and fun)!
Amazing video! This is what many music video editors do. Adding layers of sound effects to go along with the music.
i get so inspired after every single video you make. Learning so much!!!
That was truly an honest and great explanation of sound effects in a video. A tutorial quite complete for someone to watch and hop on to make a movie. Awesome video 😀
This is broken down so beautifully. I enjoyed how you deliberately chose to do the sound design behind the desk with a rode hooked to the iPhone 📱 to symbolize how there’s no excuses. Literally just utilizing material in every home mixed with imagination, can improve sound design significantly. Great tutorial.
So clear, so helpful, so epic video!!! we all keep on learning from you Daniel, many thanks!!!! Love your shooting & edit style
Thanks Daniel, These are some great tips I will use on my channel.
Brilliant! Keep sharing your knowledge Daniel! Loved it.
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed
OMG, stop at the middle of the video to comment when you show the actual sound design process. Now I know what to do after few hours of searching for a soundfx that left me nothing. Love it
The process behind this is just beautiful. Awesome work man. Never done a video in my life, but watching this definitely makes me wanna try
Brilliant idea. Always wondered if there was a better way to record sound effects and this video is the answer.
Glad you found it helpful! 👏
@@danielschiffer cheers
ahhhhh so inspiring! I make music a bunch and have never really thought to make my own sound fx for my videos. Now I want to!
Hi Daniel from Brazil! Awesome video, thanks for sharing the knowledge! Keep crushing man! You are already big!
👊🏻
Wooooooow! Well done brother... WELL DONE! 👏🏽
Every video and tutorial is better than the last! This is hands down the best sound design video I've ever seen. Thanks so much for showing how you think about, record, and layer so many sounds to create the feeling that you're going for! A great follow-up would be to take this film and walk through the process of implementing the sounds in Premiere - your thought process, layering, and other technical decisions. Thanks again!
Seeing you actually recording many of those sound effects like people creating sound effects for a movie is so awesome! Thank you so much for the sharing , I'm going to order my mic for recording sounds like that right now LOL.
Always love your tips Daniel!
Everything about this video was so clean! Loved it
Been watching a lot of your videos lately! Good work!!
Such a good video, really like the end product as well! Keep it up!
I love that you are making money in all kinds of different ways including affiliate linking, but i also really appreciate that in this video you are showing how to do the sound effects yourself instead of pointing at a file vendor.
That part of video when you created sounds your self..... It was incredible....... And all videos of yours are awesome .......keep posting good work....
Thank you for sharing your experience. I was very inspired by how you record your own sound effects.
Good luck to you and your channel.
Funny how much you can learn. Thought you was about to pull out a $28,000 recording device that 99% of us can’t afford but instead you hit me with a iPhone rode mic.
I was expecting a website link to get the sound effects, but seeing how easy it was to record them was even better! Thanks for sharing it, Daniel!
Bro, i have to tell you that i really learn a lot from your videos, thanks a lot for sharing
Keep going broski. Valuable knowledge and inspiration for me and I’m sure a lot of others around the globe
Awesome breakdown, Daniel!!
This is my new favorite, must watch CZcams creator/channel. fantastic info. Thanks for sharing your skill and knowledge.
wow, ive seen them do this for the big budget stuff and never thought about using it for this application. You just blew my mind!
Bloody awesome, Daniel. You're a blessing!
Sound adds a lot to a video, probably 50% or greater. It pays to take the time to detail your sound design, thanks for sharing your technics. The iPhone and mice are a great idea!!
Now that is dope 😂😂😂 I was so shook even tho I know this ain’t nun new but still that was crisp just seeing you reuse the sounds on your own
I LOVE YOUR TUTORIALS!
Haha love how you broke down where you get your sound fx from, look on your face with the drill was 👌🏾
Noone is gonna find better sound design tutorial as this what you have showed right here. Great stuff Man!!! Omg it was actually amazing!!! 🤟🏽🔥
So good! Thanks for this!!
It's fantastic ! You are unreally creative. thanks for sharing experience !!
That was so epic when you dropped the foley sound design show and tell. 👌 When you said “rather than tell you, I’ll just show you,” I was fully expecting you to bring up a website with a link in the description. And I don’t mean that at all negatively towards you, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with affiliate promotion, it’s just what you get used to with CZcams vids. Awesome work man, love your channel! 👊
pure gold. that video tumbnail sound clip blew my mind! gg sir
MY GUY! This is super dope! I love your videos, everytime you come out with a new video it's fireeee!! 🔥🔥🔥
Man, totally awesome! Well done!
the man got a haircut, great video. The scratches against the board when putting the grip tape on really stuck out to me. super clean
I did not expect that you were gonna say you are doing your own foley. Well done sir. Well done.
I just learned something again today. You are awesome man, keep up the good work.
love you how you make your own sound design. i should try that
