    Thanks for the great over view. Is it possible to put fenders on this along with a pannier rack on the back? Any recommendations?

    I originally bought a tough road slr Gx2 to upgrade my old 2014 escape. I liked it, but I wanted something that felt lighter/faster. I just swapped it out for the AR 3 and I couldn’t be any happier. I was nervous getting the “low end” model, but it works great!

  • @BuggieJadie

    HI there really good video. Hello from Ireland. I cycle about 100km per week. A mix of road and canal (light gravel trails). I currently have a 2008 Trek 1500 “Discovery Channel” model which I like. It has Ultegra group set. Do you think the group set on the Contend AR3 would match that (based on Shimano trickle down effect over the years)? And do you think this is suitable for my mix of cycling? It is just a weekend hobby for me as my 51 year old knees don’t like running or football as much any more! I have a local retailer who has an AR3 for 1099 Euros which is inside my budget. What do you think? Thanks again. Declan.

    • @andysbikeshop7654
      @andysbikeshop7654  Před 3 lety +2

      Declan Kenny that is what I ride and I have no complaints for it! If you want to upgrade I would get the 105 model for the money. Sora is nine speed and has great gear range. The 105 just gets you even more bang for your buck.

  • @alvaropierre5063

    Hey what seat post would you recommend for the giant AR 3 . The original seat mines came with isn’t comfortable to me .

    • @benjaminchild3227
      @benjaminchild3227 Před 4 lety

      You should replace the seat without changing the seat post if possible. The contend has a proprietary "D-shaped" seat post, so if you get a new post it will not fit. As far as saddles go, it's worth going in to a local bike shop to take a look since it's hard to get a feel for one over the internet, and each person will find that they like some styles better than others.

    What's the cheapest giant ?

  • @Rocky4719
    @Rocky4719 Před 4 lety +1

    Why would someone buy a Contend AR 3 over the Revolt 2, which has more versatile tires stock, and hydraulic disc brakes? Though it does trade having a Shimano Sora crank for a FSA crank... I’m not trying to trash the AR 3, but I’m asking what value it has over the similarly priced Revolt 2

    • @andysbikeshop7654
      @andysbikeshop7654  Před 4 lety +1

      Basically it comes down to fit and the geometry. The Revolt is a gravel geometry the Contend AR is a road geometry bike. So if you like the fit of a road bike and are ok with running tires that are 38 or below then get the Contend. Otherwise if you want the biggest tire possibly and that is really important to you then you want to go with the Revolt.

    Makes me laugh that $1000 is seen as a good price for a bike with Sora components, 6 years ago you'd pay $500 for Sora, $700-750 for Tiagra and $1000 for 105. Also, that brake system is not it... What are Giant thinking? That ugly brake system on the handlebar needs to go!
