- Daniel Engel takes on another incredible Sierra Nevada gem, for his very first time. Gripping heavily, taking in the views, and hitting speeds over 100 kph.
Told Daniel you didn't need to slide any corners, so he fully blasted the entire, extremely LONG road on this amazing first descent!
For the record, I added music at the end because I completely blasted my camera in the bushes at 100+ kph... (on accident), and completely broke my mic. Also scratched the lens filter... Anything for the shot I guess! ahaha.

The first thing I realized when I started doing a little DH again (at 59) was that my leg strength could no longer be taken for granted. This guys legs are iron.

I haven’t done a lot of DH yet, but it looks like they’re pretty much holding a lunge the entire time...they really do have legs of iron lol
@@zeAssassin71 the faster you go the more your upper body gety carried by the air hitting it, like when you sit upright on a motorcycle going fast. Not saying it doesnt take crazy upper leg strength.

Man what a sick run. Love, love this. I was a flatland/street skater in the early mid 90s as a teen before a disabling accident. Much love to these guys. I would've loved to have tried this back in the oldschool. The sheer speed and grace is so amazing it looks. Plus, the different positioning for coming into turns is just so nasty. I could go on and on. Peace.

This was a beautiful run! Intense at moments and calm cruising at other times. I'd love to be able to do this. Im just now starting DH skating. I was inspired last year when I went to southern Oregon. The guys who invited me there are DH longboarders. So when I got back home to Kentucky I started skating and doing some DH in my neighborhood and town

How do you record these, if it’s a car then hope the skater doesn’t slow down. At first I thought it was another skater but in a different video you see a shadow of a huge ass camera on a pole.

How do you get into raw running. I started skateboarding about a year ago and I wanna take it to the next step and get into raw runs. Anyone have any advice?
This sport is called downhill skateboarding.
Raw run is filming term used.
It means one run, filmed top to bottom.
Get yourself a proper board, check out prism skate co and Powell peralta dh (there is a lot of other companies)
Start small, on mellow hills. Learn slides (sliding is how you control speed)
Always know how to control your speed, and work your way up. Dial your slides.
There are trick tips out there, but we are going to make slide tips this year / how to safely progress with downhill skateboarding.
