Standard Carrera is a supercar already, and the angular lines on this gen is sweet. 3.6 to 100 is immense and the Porsche driving experience. Cant argue against it really.

I m really not debating the already high performances of this car. But your statement saying it is a supercar put me on the fence. What s your definition of supercar? Any car making 0-100 in less than 4 seconds? Well there are a lot of supercars on the market then. I mean, my Cayman T has a stage 2 that puts it at 390 HP. I did multiple times no to 100 in 3.8 sec. The cayman being lighter than the 911, smaller and with a lower CG, I m sure I ll be quicker on a track than the base Carrera model. Does it make my Caman T a supercar too?
A supercar is a sport car with higher performance but also capable of doing insane lap time on a track. The base Carrera is a real sport car but not yet a supercar like a GT3RS or a F488. Just my opinion though.

@@StefBelgium that's always a touchy subject and everyone has a different opinion on it. however, when you see a carrera in person, you walk around it, it isn't the same as walking around an m3 or m5, or m4 or anything similar to those faster cars. it's special and the feeling you get from seeing it is simply different. it catches your attention on the road in the way that only a supercar can. cayman doesn't do that either. it's not about the numbers at all.

What I really like in videos from AutoTopNL ( as far as I can notice) is that you guys don't tailgate, you drive safely, that makes me happy!
I mean even though sometimes there are cars overtaking slower than you probably wish, either you edit the video or you just relax a bit. Happy to see that!
What's crazy is some of those cars overtaking other cars "slowly" are still often doing around 100 mph. haha Love it! And yeah, I agree. I really like that he's still safe and respectful of other drivers on the road.
If I had the money, this is how I'd spec a 911. There is something about a bargain basement 911. No frills, pure stock. Still looks the business. GT Silver, black , white, the sort of colors that helps you fly under the radar. Brialliant stuff

For a daily driver I could live very well with a base Carrera. Still a very quick car, but in normal mode quite easy to drive. It might be the right car for less experienced drivers. Love the classic GT silver that emphasizes the clean design. Love your reviews: great infotainment!
Any modern Porsche is a right car for a less experienced driver. Just down floor it, even your granny can drive it.

I drive a 991.2 carrera as a daily. I never needed anything faster.
Absolutely brilliant. And i dont know how but i saw 306 km/h with my car. I thought it had a limitor but apparently i can go beyond 292 km/h
What an awesome dad letting you drive this! what you must not forget tho is that its still a 120000€ car. its a cool car, but not cheap, and for 15-20 thousand more you get better models. i can see why not many people buy this
Base 911 Carrera's are the rarest 911's. I love them. This one has some options but they're nice ones.
Don t need the chrono sport pack to have the launch control if you have the PDK. It is called hidden launch control but...the real launch control (sport + mode of the chrono sport) has a software that limits the power and manage the torque converter to avoid overloading/over heating and prevent wear. So you can launch control a non sport chrono car but the transmission suffers way more.

@@EdD-ym6le on mine, I have the chrono sport pack and PDK so I have the real launch control. This is was the seller told me when I tried the car before buying. The model I tried, did not have the chrono sport pack, and when I tried to launch it, this is what he told me. This may be actually true based on the behavior that is also shown in this video with the car launching around 4000 RPM. Real launch control now launches at way higher RPM. Don t remember the exact RPM when I do it, but the RPM needle goes all the way up ! Love Porsche 😍😍
Launch RPM for the CS/TurboS is around 5k and 6,200k for the GT3.

For info both the carrera and the carrera s come with pasm as standard. But you can spec the carrera s with sport pasm -10 mm including the more aggressive front lip.
I absolutely agree. That basic carrera is more than enough for the majority of drivers. And the most crucial is that is friendly for every day use.

Saw a gorgeous blue 992 GT3 RS today… even in the first few gears you can hear them snap and hear the car just ready to be floored! I’d love to drive one of those someday that car literally looks like a thrill.

This is a car with an unsurpassed design and engineering... even in its most "basic" version, I absolutely love it (congratulations to Willemm, respect 🙌🏻, what a car man…). When I first heard the 992 Carrera S in the new Forza Motorsport I thought they royally screwed up the sound of a 911. After watching this I no longer believe that. They nailed it, right down to those weird screeches I can't even describe. I think the 992 has a very different but still wonderful sound we're used to from previous NA 911's.
My dream car since 90's
Base Carrera is almost always the most long lived 911 because all the GT3's and Turbo's are either crashed or totally exhausted and they never survive for long, that is why they are worth a fortune if tjey are kept in spot on condition...but base 911 are almost always the daily drive and a lot of the survive for a few decades.

Just fyi, the 992 base carrera has stage 1 open to 500hp.
Modern times: driving 290 km/h and speaking of deficit of power... My first 911, I had in 1983, was an used one with 130 horses. And it was a true sports car...

Base Carrera is designed to be the best driving car in the world. It’s a very pure modern Porsche experience and it’s wildly underrated.
I think people are afraid of having the “cheap” car in the lineup so they buy things that either taint that experience or bump it into a power range that they’ll never actually utilize
at the end of the day the "cheap" Porsche still is a Porsche

I picked up my 2023 911 Carrera about 3 months ago.
I don’t recall the word “ cheap “ coming to mind as I sat in the finance office writing a check for almost 130 K !!

@@unclebob4964 I'm with you! Not cheap at all in the grand scheme, but definitely cheap when you're comparing it to the most sought after top trim 911s... I'd still take a 4/4S with the good seats (and maybe a PTS color)
@@UTR1 I was “ on the list “ for a C4 for over 2 years……finally the dealer told me I’d never see a “4”……he could make a C2 or C4s work.
I opted a C2 and had an allocation in a couple of months.
One of the pluses of 2 vs all-wheel drive was I could get the 23 gal extended range fuel tank. The all-wheel drive configuration eliminates the larger tank.
The car is absolutely phenomenal.
I broke it in as Porsche advised.
It’s got more than enough power…..3/4 throttle for a couple of seconds on the on ramp can put you over 100 so quick you have to be very careful !

Great review, but you are a little bit wrong. PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) is standard for all 911s, the thing you are talking about you can not get on the base model is PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) :-)

You can get the manual in the S in some markets. But I haven’t seen a base carrera with it. Which is sad. Also would’ve loved to see the 9ff build (maybe someone who’s done something similar will offer you a drive.)
Reminds me of Wangan Midnight Z and the legendary 300km/h speed on the highway. This car would be perfect for those runs, take some effort but eventually gets there

For daily driving I would go for a 718 cayman with more options on a 2.5 turbo or 4.0 naturally aspirated with a few options.

All Porsche's are amazing. Have there own magic thing. But here I would definetly go for the Carrera S Version. Its the best price/performance ratio in the 911 Line Up. When money plays a role here :-D
There is always the possibility to slightly tune it (Stage 1) up to 450ps, with guarantee..and cheap. For those who think that is not fast enough as it is.
I think you also miss out on the trick diff that helps put the power down but the engine response is better with less lag from my research and no manual so you kind of go in a circle money wise . Porsche is tricky when it comes to getting your money - you can get the chocolate sundae but if you want the sprinkles too your better off just giving your money to Porsche haha . I like the idea though .
@@EdD-ym6le plus that your insurance is no longer valid, which means if you get in an accident, they wont pay because they cant rule out the piossibility that it was the tune that caused the accident. If youre a good driver who knows his stuff, a tune aint a problem tho
