    just fyi. sony's aps-c cropfactor is 1.5 while canon is 1.6, which sounds like you used in 35mm equivalent.
    i looked at that 20mm back in the days, but reviewers didn't like it, so i went with 35mm f1.8. its not a pancake, but it's still small enough for me

    • @BenHytrek
      @BenHytrek  Před 3 lety

      Yep totally right, I done messed up my crop factors on that one! Thanks for the correction and good lens choice!

    This was an awesome review! I've been debating on this Sony and the Samyang 24mm 2.8. Both very light lenses for travel video work on my A6400. I'm leaning a little more towards the Samyang though since it seems like it can also be a decent portrait lens. You sir have gotten a subscriber :)

    I got this lens new as my first prime for my new a7r with the 28-70 Kit zoom because of the lack of anything else at the time. I now have the Sigma 16 f1.4 which is a beauty but is BIG and HEAVY compared with the little 20mm which is so light and compact,
    I like the minimalist hood which protects the lens from fingers.
    Now also note the filter threads on the hood. this allows any standard 49mm filter to be quickly added and removed, I still use this lens a lot and use it a lot on my a6000 as well as the a7r.

    • @BenHytrek
      @BenHytrek  Před 4 lety

      No it does not! Any stabilization will have to come from the IBIS system in the camera body

    hi! is af silent enough to use on fx30?

    • @BenHytrek
      @BenHytrek  Před rokem +1

      Definitely silent enough! For video work, I would probably recommend saving up for one of the third party F 1.4 lenses for a shallower depth of field and nicer quality of life features for videography like bigger focusing rings and standard lens filter sizes.

    Hey is it possible to do the same full frame mod as the 16mm 2.8 (where they take the back off and you just have shadows in the corner but at 16mm focal length). I think the AF is better on the 20mm but I want to put it on an a7iii and not use crop mode.

    • @BenHytrek
      @BenHytrek  Před 3 lety

      Hmmm havent tried that! It does have a square plastic backplate like the 16mm but if you really want a wide-angle that's actually usable edge to edge I'd look into the new Sony FE 20mm F/1.8 or the Sony FE 28mm!

    That lens hood you’re using looks really nice! Can you please share which one that is?

    • @BenHytrek
      @BenHytrek  Před 3 lety

      Depends on what you like! If you want a wider angle lens with the same image quality but slightly lacking autofocus on video then do that! If you want a narrower fov with quick af then pick Sony

    Sony 20mm - poor picture quality, terrible lens - if you need something really flat on your cam to get it to fit in your pocket, better to get one of those small, really cheap fisheye "lenses"
    Better zany than crappy...
