      Irene Rollins seems lovely. And when she said her husband threatened to leave her if she didn't get help, I was like ...?.... what?!!!He doesn't sound like much of a preacher, a loving husband, or even a Christian. The BIBLE says love endures ALL things. The BIBLE also says LOVE covers a MULTITUDE of sins. Where is the love of Christ in Jimmy's life? My heart breaks for Sister Irene with a self righteous so called preacher for a husband. Did Jimmy try to get Irene help? Did he pray and fast for her? I wonder. Actually, I doubt it all together. All I can say is Jimmy better hope he never finds himself failing in his flesh, cause Mrs. Rollins could say the same thing of him, oh wait, no she couldn't. Because she is an example of a real Christian. Plus she is beautiful too. Jimmy, ummm, I'm not sure what they could do with you, cause... nope, imma have to stop there. I said my peace, and I mean every word of it.

      You don't know me, but I'll say this: I eventually had to go to rehab (right when Covid hit) and I'm 2 plus years sober. Please, please go. It will put some words behind the disease that we share. It will help flush out the reasons you drink (I can bet you don't drink because you like it anymore). And it will then help you deal with whatever you discover.. I found my therapist (who I still use to this day) in rehab. Don't worry about the stigma of rehab. Not everyone has to know you've gone. But it will help save you. You can do it. I promise you.

      @@justinethomas5020 addiction is not a choice… no one takes a drink and says I want to ruin my life with a drink. Most people take a drink and never have issues with the substance, others drink and the substance takes control of their life. So no, I disagree, it’s not a choice.

    • @Seers2you24
      @Seers2you24 Před rokem +2

      The first drink is a choice. Can't rationalize, justify, or deny. It is a fact. The lack of impulse control and narcissism goes with the diagnosis as any addict is a narcissist. Narcissism which fuels their addiction of choice. They are consumed with themselves and care for no one, that's the disease process. Enablers are those that keep on providing an environment, where the addict can continue the abuse. Co dependent on the addict emotionally. Personal and professional experience. It's over the top when addicts think that staying sober deserves glory, glory, still seeking that attention gratification. Smh.

She's not just talking like this on this platform, she and her husband have a rawness and authenticity that is so rare amongst church leaders. They genuinely don't like people acting holy around them, they push people to address the root of their dysfunction.
    This platform is just God's response to her faithfulness on a much smaller stage. Congrats

    Makes me concerned about issues like alcoholism, drug abuse, sex addiction and more, not being discussed in Church. Raising awareness on these issues at such an important institution, should be integrated intentionally, since a lot of congregants might be suffering in silence. Finally, safe spaces should also be created within the Church, to offer counseling.

      Amazingly, most churches have plenty of support for parishioners. But when you are clergy or church leadership, people think you have all the answers, your life is near perfect and that isn't true. But people in those positions feel pressure to perpetuate the false idea that because you are called to leadership, you are always living a happy life.

    I applaud this pastor for finding the strength to live, get help and save her marriage and family. What a testimony! I pray she achieves much success, as she shares her testimony, and empowers others to seek healing and help.
    In March of 1982, a coworker and I became fast friends, and eventually best friends. We were living in NYC at the time. She was from Jamaica West Indies, and I am of Caribbean descent. We used to go clubbing weekly, and hang out after work for Happy Hour. I could never embrace alcohol culture, so one drink was my limit. Every time my friend and I hung out, she would get smashed...pissie drunk, to be specific. I always ended up making sure she got to her Harlem apartment safely, while a cab driver waited for me to return to the car, so he could take me home in the Bronx. My friend was in denial she was an alcoholic. When I became a mom in 1983, and a Christian in 1985, I didn't want to hang out with her anymore. In recent years, her alcohol addiction grew to 2 bottles of wine with dinner every night. She got married and has 2 grown children. Over twenty years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Doctors told her there was a link between excessive wine consumption and breast cancer. She didn't believe the doctors or the science. Her husband gave her an ultimatum. She chose wine. He remarried 2 years ago, to a woman who is a Christian minister. My now former friend has subjected their children to years of emotional and psychological abuse. The son put his life on hold to move back home and care for her. Here she is now, at age sixty-one, still drinking wine, and dealing with an additional health issue. The breast cancer metastasized to her brain. Her doctor asked her to look into hospice care. It's a no for her. She's at home with her son and her wine, denying she is going to die within a year or two. Their daughter is away at college. My former friend was one of the smartest people I knew, built a few businesses from the ground up, but doesn't believe she's an alcoholic. Everyone else is ther problem. Alcoholics don't realize, when they drink, everyone around them is symbolically drinking too. I haven't seen my former friend since 1998, and we haven't spoken in years. It's a shame the friendship had to end over something like this.

    Good for the pastor and her family! God is good! I love when the pastor said for her family "We healed together" Who knows❓️ That could be a title of another book telling the story of her family struggles and how they over came the challenges they faced together.

    Good Morning. I love when People get their lives together to better who they are for themselves and not others. I have learned that the only Person you can truly please first is Yourself. In order for you to be any good for anything or Anyone. You have to love Yourself from within because doing things for all these other personalities of People will cause you to crash and have a breakdown. Whatever you can live with with Yourself, live proudly. Whatever you feel you need to work on with Yourself to live in peace, just do it. Do not be worry about where or what a Man is doing every five minutes. That is high blood pressure. Do not be worried or concerned with what other Women have that are younger or older than you. That is plastic surgeries. Love and hug Yourself. You are worth the love you give Yourself from within. Thanks for sharing.

    I want to quit so bad , y’all pray for me. I don’t drink everyday but every Friday when I get off I drink my life away and I end up being completely unproductive all weekend and I’ve even been once to one of those I.V. Clinics to replenish me because I felt like death one Saturday. God help me get rid of this Friday trigger that tugs at me please!!!!

    Our leaders need more prayer from us because after the anointing has lifted, they are human beings with the same struggles and the same demonic attack that all Christians are faced with. I am praying even more for this woman because she has served notice on the enemy that God is greater.

    Say JESUS! Our transparency is important, but we have to remember that as Christians we DEPEND on the LORD. I praise GOD for her deliverance. Without the power of the Living GOD, we cannot do anything with lasting success. Again, praise God for this lady sharing! Substance abuse is real! Praying that all will continue to be well in Jesus’ Name.

    Women cannot be pastors.
    Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect

    She’s so right, alcoholism is very sneaky! I was dating an alcoholic, and didn’t know it in the beginning. I myself went from not liking drinking alcohol. I didn’t grow up with or around it. To drinking wine and fruity mixed drinks with him, that he introduced to me. But then I noticed that as soon as he got home daily I would go for a drink. Then I started having a drink and he wasn’t around! Finally, I confronted myself and stopped. But noticed that he drank every day! I had to leave him. Alcohol is so socially acceptable that you just have to be careful!
