Fun fact: the guitar that James plays in this video is ACTUALLY made from wood taken from the walls of the garage where the album 'Master of Puppets' was written.
That’s cool
Ya beat me to it! Nice job 😁
That's so Metallica!!! 🤘
The ultimate live song to experience prime Metallica, to me, is "Battery" from Seattle 1989 ... ull be tired after watching it I'm betting 😅 Do it dude, ull LOOOOVE it, guaranteed!!
Exactly i wanted to give him this piece of advice 👍🏻
My favorite from that concert is The Thing That Should Not Be
Yup!!!!!!!!!
Blackened or whiplash those are crazy
Battery from Seattle 89 will melt your face right off
Metallica NEVER disappoints!
Metallica live? Creeping Death - Moscow 1991. Trust me.
Really enjoying your journey with these and Floyd especially. Always good to see a young, new fan enjoying stuff like this 👌
The Passover song.
Your a legend when the crowd sings the song for you
And at full volume...
I was there in the rain in Manchester and I fucking loved every minute 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I was there as well. That was a fun fucking night 🤘
Btw you mention the drummer Lars saying he is sick. You are correct, no matter the softy Napster haters he is in fact the drummer for the largest most successful metal band in all of history. Btw, he created all those songs along with James mostly, and Kirk,Rob/Jason as additional credits. In other words he is the most successful metal drummer of all time, hands down, no competition.
Uhhh...No James and Lars put them together, James wrote Every Riff & every lyric. James and Lars are Metallica! There'd be No Metallica without either one. Infact in an interview James said, He's tired of him and Lars doing all the songs/music and wanted the others to all come in together and Everyone have a say, put in ideas, riffs and leads. But, James is still the only Member of Metallica to write all the lyrics. Crazy!! Especially when you think of a 20 year old writing Ride the lightning album, wayyyy beyond his years of writing capabilities! Imo. I've seen them many times, they're hands done one of my favorite bands!! ❤
You need to see Seattle version from 1989.... actually just watch all of Seattle... best live Ever.
Disposable heroes live from Mexico City he also greets the crowd in Spanish. Amazing
That's one of my favorites (it was the 4th song on this gig) and it's a BANGER!!!!
I’m glad to hear a British reaction to Metallica, especially this performance of MOP. I have been a lukewarm fan of Metallic since I first became aware of them about 20 years ago. I’m American and this performance has sealed my devotion to these guys. Has anyone ever performed such perfection in the pouring rain before. It’s epic and requires incredible stones.
MOP live in Seattle 89 is one of their best live performances. Especially the intro with Jason on bass. 🤘🤘
The intro is so heartbreakingly beautiful. RIP Cliff!!
I agree @MollyboyTV you need to react to the 1989 Seattle Live performance of this!
@@mztweety1374 so true 🥺
“WAKE UP FUCK!!!”
These guys are the GOATS and masters of their craft on a stage….and 75,000 fans joining the lyrics….
Hey bruh....yank here, glad you're reacting to this live version....keep doing good with Metallica and they will blow your channel up! Be sure to research the songs so you get their meaning, it will put you in beast mode as a reactor. Peace from America.
James guitar (the singer) is actually made from parts of their old garage where they first started to play 1981. Pretty cool. Check out the clip where James talks about it and the symbols on the neck that celebrates their late bass player Cliff Burton.
Get blown by Cliff Burton Day on the Green 85 version of For Whom The Bell Tolls.. that classic era reigned supreme
I was there, and it was absolutely amazing. The pissing down rain didnt stop them in their tracks!
Metallica changes lives. They did for me. Enjoy the ride, we're happy to cruise along with you. That drummer is Lars Ulrich and easily the nicest musician I've ever met. The crowd is singing their @sses off! James is letting them sing every other line.
This hits harder when you realise the band are old men but still rocking harder than pretty much any band out there at the moment. Most blokes their age have retired and are cutting wood or mixing paint a B&Q for something to do. These lot are on world tours performing in front of millions of people a year with music they wrote and produced. Amazing and legendary band. Dave Ghrol and the Foo Fighters are a close second to these lot with Legendary status . . . . . . oooooh Do Foo Fighters too, you will love them
I was here for this gig, was amazing
I was there that day and I’ve been round the world watching these guys and this was the best gig hands down, that rain made it! 🤘🏼
It’s been a running gag for years that lads is a bad drummer, but he’s literally inspired millions with his musicianship along with James’ riffs, that’s what makes them a perfect duo
Metallica - Battery (Seattle 89)
Metallica - Battery (Seattle 89)
Metallica - Battery (Seattle 89)
Metallica - Battery (Seattle 89)
Metallica - Battery (Seattle 89)
Believe it or not, in their 60's they still play these songs faster than they were originally recorded.
How the hell they still keep that pace is mind boggling.
James Hetfield : Vocal/Rhythm
Kirk Hammet: Lead guitar
Lars Ulrich: Drums
Rob Trujillo: Bass
As mentioned... any live videos of older songs should be watched from the Seattle '89 video.
My daughter and i are going to see them in a couple of weeks in Detroit. It will be my 3 time seeing them and they kill it every time. If you get a chance to see them, do it. You won't regret it. Great reaction!
James hetfield is the lead singers name and master of their lyrics and riffs. His nicknames are “papa het” and “the riff master” and quite known for his guitar work. Kirk Hammett is the lead guitar and is amazing also.
Keeping in mind these guys were about 57 years old when they did this show live! Just in case you feel old at 36... By the way, this by my musician ear, it sounds like it is the same speed as the album, sometimes they went slower over the years, sometimes faster - this feels on par in speed to the studio speed. 11:19 - The guitar James is using, is literally made from the wood of the shed that Metallica recorded demo versions for the album Master of Puppets. Many of the songs from their album Death Magnetic and since then had this guitar used when recording the songs. The Ouja Board Kirk guitar is how own design - one of many and are expensive!!! But James' guitar here is literally one of a kind and you can not make another as the shed was demolished over a decade and a half ago - the band had a party in it before it was demolished and there is a video on YT of the moment!!!
Dude, I'm diggin watching you go through what we all went through decades ago. We knew we were in the presence of greatness the entire time, seriously. Now, we only get to enjoy them now because their drive and determination to get better and better is unmatched. So proud to love their work. 🤘🙏 Enjoy buddy, much more for you to experience.
And 2023 Metallica seems in even better shape!
Gotta react to Seattle 89. Every song in Seattle that day was absolutely electric
James Hetfield, the lead singer, often plays lead but mostly he is rhythm guitar. Kirk Hammett is the main lead guitar. The drummer is Lars Ulrich...he plays like that for their entire set with no breaks, which usually goes close to 3 hours. The bass player in this lineup is Rob Trujillo.
It wasn’t just raining, it pissed it down, I had to keep wringing out my tshirt haha, probably the most fun I’ve ever had at a gig
I would love to see you learn guitar! I've been learning since February and I would love to see one of my favourite CZcamsrs learn as well.
Fun fact, the guitar lead singer James Hetfield is playing in this song is made out of the garage this song was written in. The fretboard tells a mythical story of how the band was formed. He doesn’t play a ton of solos, he leaves a lot of that to Kirk Hammet, the lead guitarist with the purple Ouija board guitar in this performance, but he busts out a few in their catalogue.
If you need more suggestions, “Fade to Black,” is a proto Master of Puppets from their previous album, “Bleeding Me” is one of my later faves, “Nothing Else Matters” is a slower ballad style song that is amazing and very different from most of their other tracks, “Fuel” and “Atlas, Rise!” are great high energy songs… it goes on and on.
I know the album came out this year, but I'd recommend checking out either "Inamorata" or "Room of Mirrors" from Metallica's newest album. I especially think "Inamorata" would be quite the experience to listen to, (as someone who fell in love with it on the first listen).
I was at this concert. It was hammering down but no-one seemed to care. They always play this and Creeping Death about 20% faster than the studio version.
Come as you are was the first song I learned on guitar too! Keep learning and practicing, it's such a rewarding journey
I was at this one! That rain was intense but they killed it!
The guitar is called "KH Sparkle Ouija" by ESP
I'm 40 y/o now... First was intro'd to them really when i was 14 as a freshman in highschool when my friend let me borrow '... And Justice For All' and i listened to it on repeat for months. I first saw them live in 2008 (following night i saw ac/dc), then in 2016, and most recently at Power Trip at Coachella last month. Sound amazing live every time. Will be seeing them on the 72 seasons tour next year as well. Trying to see them as much as possible before they ride off into the sunset.
Orion live is amazing
Sad But True is one of my favorites
Creeping Death as others have mentioned
Blackened
the list goes on and on...
I saw them in 04 while I was in highschool. it blew me away and every other band all day sounded loud and muffled... Metallica came on stage and was the loudest and super clear like listening with headphones... they were also the best band I ever saw live.
Great reaction man! loving your videos and takes on some classic songs! I was at this gig in 2019. Absolutely poured it down with rain which you would think would ruin it at Etihad stadium, but it made it extra special imo. I also own the red version of that Ouija guitar. I love it to bits man. Hope you fall in love with learning the guitar!
I was there and I'm in my 60s. Amazing performance, and yes it rained. A lot! Incredible evening.
More live versions! I'm sure it helps to get know them better, and they are excellent live band. It's good to mix some studio and live version, even maybe doing both on some songs.
Here are few picks, which are especially nice on live shows.
- Seek and Destroy, live from Quebec Magnetic. Little special, halloween time performance :)
- Justice for All, Seattle 89. Same show as many have commented to one of the best gigs. The song is title song of their 4th studio album.
- No Leaf Clover Live from S&M2. They made concerts together with symphony orhcestra. Very nice music experience, especially this songs shows how well they rock even with massive orchestra. They made same show over two decades ago, but I recommend to pick this S&M2-version, recorded few years ago.
Thanks for reactions, keep on with Metallica! :)
I was there. Manchester uk. Seen them 9 times. Great show even though it rained. 🤘🤘
The Guitar the lead singer is playing is made from the Garage that they use to practice in the early days.
That’s so cool!
Awesome reaction. Metallica Disposable Heros live in Mexico City 2009
Check out their live orchestral set with the San Francisco Symphony in 1999, plenty to dig into and they do some incredible things throughout
Fun fact: James says “Pancakes go!!!!” before the solo to remember Cliff. Cliff was talking to another musician, and the musician asked, “What the fuck does James say before Kirk’s solo?” And Cliff responded with, “He says ‘pancakes.’”
I was there in Manchester . It was awesome man !!!
Hey bro a manc here..😂
I was at this gig, my home town Manchester. My team's stadium..the treble winners that is..
And in the beautiful Manchester rain..
Pretty epic..
There is a almost movie video to master, it's pretty dam cool mate..
Welcome to metal my brother...
No turning back now...
Jeeez ...all that's ahead of you...
Wait until you hear tool....🤟😎🤟
I love seeing new metalheads being born...👍🏻
I KICK myself because I had a chance to see Metallica Live the summer after I graduated High School but I missed the concert...in 1988...damn I'm old.
Their lives are epic... I suggest to react to live at Seattle '89. You can start from "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" or '"Battery" for example, but every choice can be great. Another 'must have' is "Creeping Death" from live in Moscow on 1991. 🤟
Metallica is my favorite band of all time, it's great watching you react to the classics. Just saw them in dallas this past August and while I've seen them since master of puppets with cliff, they sounded at top form. You should also check out the albums with the symphony as well. Very cool twists to the originals....
As far as songs, check out blackened, fuel, st anger, king nothing
I know that the guitar James is playing was made out of wood from the garage they rehearsed in when they were just starting. He got it made into a guitar.
you need to do Disposable Heroes Live from this gig in Manchester!!! unbelievable
in 1986 this song made me become a fan...
11:10 That is an "ESP LTD KH-OUIJA Kirk Hammett Limited Edition Purple Sparkle Electric Guitar" It was around 1990 that Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett first approached ESP with the idea of a guitar that made use of graphic elements from Hasbro’s classic "Ouija" mystical board game.
This gave me goosebumps
They played this live in Japan shortly after Cliff's death, and it was something like 20% faster than normal. That wanted to thrash their pain away. Check out the video here on YT.
Love the vid, welcome to Metallica family. Try to see them live if you can
That is an ESP Kirk Hammett Ouija Board Signature Guitar. You can buy a new one for around 3 or 4 thousand, or an LTD made in Korea model for around 1500.
It's always sped up and faster LIVE IN CONCERT 🤘
BANG THAT HEAD THAT DOESN'T BANG 🤘
My first ever concert was a Metallica concert when I was 16 and it was a long long time ago.
In the many years since. I've seen many bands live but I've also seen Metallica live a further 13 times.
The 14 best live shows I've ever been to, are all Metallica
Seen metallica 7 times and its always a savage day out 🤟🤘🤟🤘
Oh...and let us not leave out Spit Out The Bone...recorded and live first performance London
Lars is like «i dont know Whats going on either» 🤷🏻♂️🤪
If you're gonna react to this song live you gotta do it from seattle '89, that whole seattle show is iconic
The Ouija Board guitar is his own signature guitar. To get the EXACT same model he's playing is insanely expensive because they're very limited. You can find cheaper ones in black or white but the purple ones, I've only ever seen them go for like $5k
Thats real craft - rain or shine, you go out there and play live. No computers, no tapes - that is how you do it.
You gotta listen to To Live is to Die from …And Justice for All album. It’s an instrumental and one of Cliff Burtons (late bassist) last contributions of his to metallicas music. Whole album is amazing
Lars : drums
James : rhythm guitar ( plus occasional solos)
Kirk : Lead guitar
Rob : bass guitar
Bleeding Me : Woodstock 99
Blackened Seattle 89
If you ever get the chance to see them live, go! There are only a few bands still touring that still put on a live show as good as they do it.
Stevie Ray Vaughan Texas Flood live at the El Mocambo is an amazing performance
For me best live Metallica:Canada 1986, Seattle 1989,San Diego 1992 and S&M 1999
you really should do fade to black live 2018 its awesome. also disposable heros in mexico city. amazing lives
Dunno if you get that but this song is about cocaine addiction and in first part He is tellin that he will serve his master (cocaine and drugs in general). 2nd part when he says 'chop your breakfast in a mirron' - every single drug addicted has done it - the songs get faster cause drug has kicked and third part is when he is totally high and songs get slower and calm to express his relief and then the paranoia and will of use more is back and song gets harder and faster again - it like a loop ! What a marvelous way to express drug adiction and highness! Sorry for my english non native-speaker here ! Awesome react !
Anything from Live Seattle 89. Creeping Death is good from that concert as well as Battery.
Welcome to the metallica family
Metallica Live Stuttgart Germany 2018 Halo on Fire!!!!
Great Choice. Check out the performances from Seattle 89.
Legends!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Metallica playing in the rain that says it all
Also Metallica is always been known for their live performances, especially back in the 80s.
Perfect
I’m so bloody proud of you mate; Metallica also influenced me to-although Pink Floyd was also a pretty big force in inspiring me to- pick up the guitar. Now I’ve been playing for 30 years. My advice to you in learning the guitar is to start learning basic open chords, and barre chords, and obviously power chords ; then, as soon as possible, learn to play songs that have simple chord structures, but you like them, none the less. I was lucky that vans like Nirvana were very popular when I started playing, because learning to play a Nirvana song on the guitar is easy, and learning proper songs make you feel as if you’ve really accomplished something. I think if all I did was practice scales I would not have stuck with it. Instead, I would serenade my girlfriend with Oasis tunes, most of which are also fairly straightforward, and that was rewarding. I started playing guitar at 11. It took me two years before I could play the slow guitar solo in “master of puppets“ perfectly. Of course, I could already play the entire rhythm guitar part of the song, so I would just play along with the rhythm guitar and then play along to the slow bit of the solo when that came up… Oh, never mind; surely that you don’t want to hear all this rubbish. The most important part of this message is, however: congrats on picking up the guitar; it can be a friend for life. Secondly, start learning songs as soon as possible. If you can sing, learn to sing along. That’s a great skill for helping your fingers develop muscle memory on the fretboard.
Best of luck to you my friend.
Thanks man I can’t wait to begin the journey!
Never been to a live show? Oh man, you would love it! Especially Metallica.
Your surprise it was raining in Manchester haha
Yes. If they come back, go see them. One of the best live, in my opinion. Along with ac/dc. I've seen them 3x.
I'll see them next weekend!! 3rd time 96 2004 and 2023
I paid 735 for Metallica 2 years ago in Vegas. Was well worth it. It’s not cheap to see them but after 14 times they are still the best.
Seattle ‘89 version. Watch it!!!
Or a live version of Battery with Dave Lombardo on drums
They play everything faster live; their adrenaline ruling the tempo. Almost so fast the song is at the edge of falling apart, yet it doesn’t. It gives the performance a sense of danger. That’s what has always made them exciting live. Hey, man, watch them play live on the Howard Stern Show, its cool to see heavy music in an intimate environment like that.
They have played with an orchestra x2 Look up songs add key word 'S&M'.
He made that guitar u like its so nice
I dunno why, but I feel some proud of you, I see how new discovery in music actually changed your life, you are starting a great journey and I think it will be interesting to track you progress in mastering the guitar. I do not think you will produce a lot of content there, I think you can report some milestones and show your progress, sometimes it will be daily progress, sometimes monthly, it requires a lot of (often boring) practicing. But it worth it, go on!
If you ever get the chance to see them live you must do it! Yes they are expensive but worth every amount you spend. Also keep in mind that they donate a portion of every ticket locally to charity food banks and other things. Their charity call “all within my hands” donates to many things. They truly are good guys! FYI they have always tended to play a little faster live.
Do Disposable heroes next from this same gig bro! It's a BANGER!!!!
If you care about vocals check out Metallica - Outlaw torn S&M. It is with symphony though, but a really good song and atmosphere.
ive been on a rant tonight. definately lit though
Have to remember most of these people are in their 40s or 50s so yeah we just chill and enjoy
You should do korn live shoots and ladders in the end they do a small Metallica piece and they also did a cover while Metallica watched!
