I was raised in a household with parents who loved classical music and when I played Metallica for my 65 year old mother for the first time she loved it and after listening to their entire catalogue up until the black album she thinks its the closest thing to a classical symphony she's heard.
I grew up playing the piano-mostly classical stuff and I’ve always thought the genres had a lot of common sound! I always figured that’s what drew me to Metallica and metal in general.
That's due to Cliff Burton, who appreciated classical music and introduced it to James.
i hate the two S&m albums but your mom might like them
@@dercurtHe was classically trained and gave that methodology to the band. He was pretty special.
I've always felt that metal (not hair band poppy metal but real heavy metal composition) is the closest thing to classical orchestration.
It is very simple, my friend; react to all Metallica’s albums starting with “Kill ‘Em’ All” from 1983 to see how these unique and insanely talented guys envolved and perfected the genre they still rule and reign to this date 🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘
YESSS! Every album is an experience
We completely with this statement...rock on
Yes but I choose to think Metallica died in 1991
@@andrewvanlangen7831 they came back, too me LOAD and RELOAD S&M yes no good other than that great
That's the point, my friend! Metal music forever 🤘
It’s fun watching the rookies to Metallica learn how great they are
I get a buzz watching these young un's minds get blown 😁
Cliff's bass on this is extraordinary!🏴
Cliff is the reason for Metallica
Yes, but the best Metallica bassist that was able to combine bass playing and great backup vocals was Jason Newstead. Cliff was their best bassist instrumentally but Jason Newstead was their best bass player overall when you look at the total package.
May he rest in peace 🪦
Cliff Burton on his bass...brings me back to my teens in the 80s
Enjoy your Metallica journey. Love watching youngsters hearing Metallica for the first time. O. G.
Fun little fact about this song, it's based on a novel written by Ernest Hemingway, concerning soldiers in the Spanish Civil War. READING IS TIGHT!
Not Hemingway quote but, Do not ask for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee. Robert Frost.
Damn i wish i coud explore Metallica for the first time - again 😄

Right! I love living vicariously through these young ones that werent born when these masterpieces came out. There really isnt anything like it.
This is my favourite metallica song by a mile
For whom the bell tolls will be one of my funeral songs. That’s how much this song and band means to me
I'm with you!😁🤘🤘
That bass intro!! This band created this genre of Metal and so many genres that followed were inspired from Metallica directly.
You NEED to listen to the “cliff em all” version of this song. Cliff Burton’s bass live is the most bone-chillingly good sound ever
My favorite Metallica song!
Finally saw them play this live in August. It was incredible!
OK - I'm hooked now - always impressed with a younger generation discovering something out of their "comfort zone" and feeling it within their bones. We did this before YT existed but we had to rely on our parents or peers record or CD collection.
This is what YT is best at. Carrying the torch. You carry on fella - don't stop. Subscribed.
It's great to see the next gen becoming metal heads. I'm also really enjoying "rehearing" all of this from fresh ears
If you're going to listen to the live stuff, I'd recommend listening to the studio version first so you can familiarise yourself with the song and maybe post both reactions.
Good luck with the guitar! It can be frustrating at first, but stick with it. It's definitely worth it!
You need to react to live metallica performances, from seattle 89 and Moscow 91. Creeping death is a must watch. Great reaction and welcome to the metallica family 😊
89’ my senior year of high school. We drove 3 hours to Seattle to see the concert. EPIC!!!!!
Also The Day on the Green one with Cliff
Oh to be hearing this again for the first time! 🤘
From that same album: "Ride the Lightning", "Trapped Under Ice", "Call of Ktulu"
Piling on the comments about starting from the beginning at Kill Em All and work your way down the timeline. Your subscribers will skyrocket! So many Metallica fans love watching your style of reactions. Keep it up my man!
Ride the Lightning has got to be my favorite album from Metallica. Pure metal gold.
I would love to see you learning to play the guitar
Since you're doing such an exceptional job of going through so much of Metallica's catalog, I hope that once you're more familiar with the studio versions, you'll check out the live clips. As a frontman, James is a legend. He deserves as much credit for his role as Mick Jagger did for his.
This is my favourite Metallica Album
"Cliff em All" video please, live version of this in 1985.
You've got to see this live with cliff on bass
Probably my fav Metallica song. Pumps me up really hard for a workout
Welcome to metal, friend. These little guitar parts are called "leads". It's all about great guitar leads per time ;) You'll have a great metal journey !
Nice reaction dude. :) If you want your channel to reach 10,000 super quick, just keep on doing your Metallica thing. :)
That's the plan!
One of the greatest songs ever written.
This by far is my favorite Metallica song!! Portugal. The Man starts every one of their concerts with this!! ❤
Bro I have to binge watch this channel. It's wonderful to see your reactions. It reminds me of my first time.
Glad you enjoy it!
God I wish I could go back in time and hear all of these songs for the first time again...
Your channel is going to be massive mate. You have the best reaction to songs I’ve seen.keep up the good work mate. Gday from Australia. 🤘🤘
Thank you! That means a lot and definitely helps me stay motivated!
You've got to watch the live version of this to see Cliff doing the intro. It will amaze you. 🙂
My favorite Metallica song by far. A musical masterpiece in every conceivable way. I'm glad you discovered and appreciate Heavy Metal music!
Hell yeah! I get the same exact feeling when I listen to this. I normally play it on my headphones on my walk to work after someone has pissed me off, or I just can’t be bothered with going, and it makes me feel like can conquer anything and anyone!
Simply beautiful!
Glad to see you react to this song. It was the first Metallica song I ever heard. I have been a die hard fan ever since. So I guess that is 40 years now.
The cool part about this tune, is the fact that the intro guitar is actually Cliff's bass all distorted. Pretty bad ass.
Man, you really need to see the live performances of this song, they are incredible, I swear.
Day on the Green live 1985 version of this is epic. It's all about Cliff Burton on bass.
I’ve listen to this song too many times to think and yet I still have the same reaction your doing right now
Battery and Fight Fire With Fire are 2 of my favourite Metallica songs.
Super love it! Seen them in live concerts several times! It’s awesome 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻😃For whom the bells tolls is super awesome!
It would be awesome to watch you learn the guitar! 🎸
The Metallica family is everywhere and everybody is welcome 🤛🤘♥️
S&M2 version of this song with San Francisco symphony is really joy to listen and watch. Check it out even if you won't create a reaction video out of it. :)
You are now ready to hear "Blackened" off the "And Justice For All" album.
One of the few bands whose songs sound even better in concert! Watch their Moscow concert on CZcams from 1991 in front of 1.6 million people. The songs sound amazing!!!
Bro, I love that you like this. Reality we were then outcasts back in the day. This was unerground.....
That’s a sick design on that guitar! 🔥
Take your time man also that’s a sick ass guitar!!! I’ve been playing for a year and a half and hell I’m still at beginner level, good luck and just keep playing!
Ah, my top favorite Metallica song-
This is based off of an old war novel with the same name.
Did you know that Metallica recorded a concert in 1989 which is widely regarded by fans to be truly epic, peak Metallica if you will. Battery is an excellent example from that show.
I WAS THERE!!!! 89’ my senior year.
Live in Ireland and have followed metallica since mid 80s. Legends . Love seeing your reaction as it brings me back to first time I listened to them. 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Congrats on the growth friend.. You deserve it 🍻
Thank you, I appreciate it!
This is the Metallica I remember !!! Just Fire 🤘🔥🎸🇺🇲💯... Really you don't have have a favorite , there could be 50 favorites Just Top Tier music in general !!! Great Reaction mollyboy keep up the work , best job in the world listening to New Music !!! 🤘🔥🇺🇲💯....
3:35 that frozen face! xDD awesome
so many nasty riffs in this
Dude.... a hip hop guy turned metal head.... that's awesome! If you come to the states I'll be your drummer!
As a kid I had a mix-tape (actual cassettes back in those days, ah, the memories!) where every second song was this one. The other songs were more or less filler, put there to make this one all fresh with each play :D
Metallica creates kind of a base rhythm or melody but then they elaborate so much on it that sometimes doesn't even sound like you're in the same music , BUT somehow it fits perfectly, they are the best at this kind of shift within the same music in my opinion, you never see it coming
Yo my man, you gotta hear "Anesthesia Pulling Teeth" so much of their sound on the first 3 albums will be explained (especially the instrumentals) The one, The only, Cliff Burton
The song is actually based on the book there’s a lot of history in heavy metal
As I grew up in a house with a fanatic muso (dad had his own studio as well), I learned that there are only two type of music. The music you either hate or love.
These albums, my father you'd to just look at my while I played the albums over and over. 30 odd years later, I was in the studio listening to Master of Puppets (album), at some point my father had walked in, sat down and just listened. When it was completed, look up at me and simply said, that was always a great album huh. He's a country & western fan through and through.
Welcome to the select group of people who love metal or just great music that makes you move and think and feel all at the same time. Love watching your reactions. Keep it up. Don’t forget to include Moore TOOL. They’re also on the same level. 🤘🏼
I remember back when this album came out in 1984 , I was 14 .. , For whom the bells toll was my very first Metallica song I heard. Hooked ever since. Great job on your channel , keep it up
I’m 40 now, played this as a senior in hs w/a band at school😌Took me a while to get into Metallica since I grew up in the grunge/alternative age and really didn’t venture too far out from there😕
This was the heaviest thing I could play on the school bus going home
3:29 that is a proper stink face! 😆. Metallica is pure 🔥
I’m telling you!!!! DISPOSABLE HEROES!
You’ll not regret it!
Keep up the good work it's a love playing guitar 🎸
You need to check out the live version to for whom the bell tolls day of the green!!!!!!!! Cliff burton the bass player will blow your mind. RIP Cliff
You need to do One and Welcome Home (Sanitarium)….THESE ARE ESSENTIAL!!
these reactions are fire
Rip cliff Burton. He is a beast playing this song.
Awesome! You know what, I think you're ready for Am I Evil. May God have mercy on your soul!
so big it just goes beyond time itself! just like Pink Floyd and maaaany other CLASSIC, ICONIC and EPIC songs/bands! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You probably are getting an adrenalin rush of some sort listening to this music, and that's a good thing. As for a favorite band, I have like a thousand favorites, lol.
Pre 90's Metallica is pretty epic, this song is one of their best
80s Metallica is the only Metallica
@@utubeisazzhoe1413 can’t argue with that..
If you like the guitars, the solo in “am I evil” it’s one of the best ever. Man, I would like to hear Metallica for the first time again! I was introduced to Metallica by my cousin saying: Have you heard this American band with a danish drummer? And then he played creeping death! I never looked back😎
700th like. Keep up the good work my friend. and wleocme to the brotherhood of metal
Thank You!!
I have a Ride the Lightning coffee cup. Only way to stsrt the day.
Your so cool man I wish we lived near each other because I would love to rock and roll with you I’ve played drums for about 12 years and we act the same when we here great music but unfortunately that won’t happen…. Keep on with the fantastic reactions
Enjoying your journey lately homie. Especially your Pantera trip. I see your guitar back there, so this might be a good time to point out something you are hearing and dialing into. Power chords and palm muting. I’m not a guitar expert at all, but learning those 2 aspects of playing metal was fairly easy and enhances your journey while learning more. I can play random BS but if I blast some power chords, throw some double time palm muting in there, and maybe a lucky Dime “pig squeal” aka pick harmonic, it’s fun as hell. Specifically palm muting, for me, is the guitar become percussive like a drum and sitting real tight in the pocket with the drums and bass. It taps into that primal rhythmic pulse that even our caveman ancestors slammed with. It’s when your headbanging takes that extra dip into full body pulse. Also, tears pour from my eyes when I hear beautiful music of any kind too. It’s pretty cool huh? 🤘
Great song live. One as well. The energy will knock you out.
Keep listening to metal my friend, and you will stop feeling the need to apologize for cursing. 😁🍻
Say what you feel and say it with feeling!!
signed-- 80's era metalhead 🤘😎🤘
Metallica began to start becoming popular during my age of 18yrs old. I was a fan immediately. This was after their first recording of Garage Days. One of their very first performances was in Buffalo NY at Monsters OF Rock in 1990. I was there! They were brand spankin new to everyone in the crowd.🔴
I absolutely loved their music. Would sit & listen over n over & HEADBANG cuz loved the sound sooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!💥
Hi the first time I saw Metallica was when I was 14 years old I am now 49.I have seen this band 67 times in concert. Some suggestions Welcome home sanitarium. And the the Thing that should not be
That's Talent Von
See if you can find a live version. When James cries out ‘it’s the last time you will’ and everything pauses for that brief beat before dropping back into the groove, it’s just incredible. Also - see if you can catch this laid over the ending of Game of Thrones on CZcams.
You can learn most Metallica. That's one of the awesome things about them. The beginning of most of the songs is what I originally learned, just by ear on the guitar.
Hi m8, great band Metallica, but before you get too settled in could i suggest another band who many consider to be the founders of 'metal' = Judas Priest. This is proper old school. I first heard them in 1977! Fast riffs, killer drums, shreeking vocals. They got everything. Try the studio albums Sin after Sin (Dissident Aggresor) and Sad Wings of Destiny (Dreamer Deceiver). Pure Metal.
Definitely! I saw Judas Priest and Metallica live last year. Both are still bringing the metal. To leave Priest out of Mollyboy's dive into metal would be a gross mistake. And Maiden. And Dio...
That is a bass guitar lead with distortion at the beginning of the song. It's such fun to play it. Chromatic scale.
four horsemen is the best from kill em all for me. Also seek and destroy.
You're right, "Ride The Lightning" is an album, in fact all the songs you heard with those covers are the albums, all you need to do is react to a song from their First Album "Kill Em All", I recommend "The Four Horsemen " and "Seek & Destroy"
Fade to black and one (official Video)are amazing. Greetings from Germany
I’ve reacted to both of them. Amazing songs!
Cliff Burton's bass intro on this song is legendary
Metallica were the greatest story tellers in metal.
The very first song, all bands included, I've learnt on guitar
"And Justice for All" is still my favorite, Killer LP. Maybe checkout 'Shortest Straw's from that album, also a personal favorite.🎸🎵💯🔥😎
True. The song "And justice for all" is a true masterpiece!
