      I was devastated when I heard she passed, sobbing, straight to grief. Meanwhile as a Seattle grunge guy I hadn't processed Chris Cornell passing. I think I felt betrayed by him or whatever but I didn't properly grieve him until after Delores was gone and their passing's were almost a year apart. Grief is weird that way.

    This was 1st CD i bought from a white artist when I was a 13 year old N.Y. hiphop head in 1993. I just fell in love with her unique voice. 90's rule.

      The 90's was amazing because it was a time when Hip Hop and Rock became equally mainstream. One day I would be listening to Wu Tang and the next day I was listening to Pantera. Both genres had so many great artists.

      She rolls the r's when she sings and they are doubling her voice just a bit offset to thicken up the sound. That old school stuff, live the just add a delay.

    One of the nicest reaction videos I have ever seen. Great job Brad and Lex. As an Irish man in my 40s I still get goose bumps listening to Dolores and the Cranberries. Reminds me of trying to get a dance and kiss off the love of my life who is now my wife. Thanks guys.

      I was scared of Ireland as a child.
      The Troubles were all over the national news here and everything seemed so horrific.

      Her death hit me like a ton of bricks, and I am not the type to get overly emotional about celebrity deaths. Her music helped get me through the worst period of life after my mother’s death, and I still haven’t reconciled the fact she herself passed about the same age as my mother and left children that were near my age when I lost mine.

    It's about a young military man she briefly fell in (young) love with as a teenager at a teen club or something. When The Cranberries auditioned for each other (the boys had some instrumentals laid down), Dolores came back later with a strings compilation and lyrics about her first heart break. Such an iconic, beautiful song.

    I'm pretty sure what you're hearing Brad is what's known as the Irish lilt, where there accent lifts softly. Try Sinead O'connor 'Nothing compares to you'. Another great Irish voice.

      It’s a mix between a yodel and keening. Keening is like a lament for the dead or singing with that grief in your voice. Very popular with Irish singers years ago

    When I was young like 7 years old or something, I didn't speak english... So all these nostalgic songs from back then, I never knew their meaning. I just loved the way it sounded and the way it made me feel!!! This one could easily be on a reel of my memories as a child (even though I know now it is a breakup song or something like that xD)

    I would consider The Cranberries rockish. In the 90's there was a time where this alternative/ soft rock bands that took over. R.I.P Dolores

    Someone has probably mentioned it here before, but their song Dreams is (in my opinion) a high water mark for their storied career. It is a really beautiful composition that highlights Delores' vocals beautifully.

    Brad's schoolboy enthusiasm for Dolores O'Riordan really takes me back to the innocent fantasies that I had entreated as a teen for celebrity musicians. Some of my very first celebrity crushes were Suzi Quattro, Lita Ford, Joan Jett and Singer-Bassist for the Canadian band, The Spoons, Sandy Horne.

    Brad, you would love “When your gone”. Her voice is amazing in it and it’s relatable to her untimely death even though it’s not about that. She broke many an Irish heart when she died and all around the world. She also sang with Pavarotti live in Italy which might interest you. Keep up the great reactions.

    If you like the soothing "whispering" sound of her voice, you should check out "There's No Need To Argue"... very different song, but brilliant & emotional.
    If you want a showcase of her amazing voice overall though, react to "Dreams" - which is probably The Cranberries' best song.

    By the way they're an Irish band. From the first time I heard Dolores' voice I fell in love with it. It really screwed me up when I heard she passed away in 2018. Amazing artist. May she R.I.P.

    If there are any bands that I could recommend that have songs like this and angelic voices would be Sixpence None the Richer and The Sundays. Dolores had a voice that captured the soul like very few truly can. R.I.P
