Eating WILD MEAT at Carnivore Restaurant Nairobi

- Welcome to Kenya's world famous restaurant the Carnivore Restaurant which opened in 1980 and is located by the Wilson Airport in Nairobi.
Back before 2004 when the Kenyan Government passed the law against the sale of game meat, Carnivore was known to sell everything from giraffe to zebra, wildebeest, gazelle and more. But now even though zebra steaks are no longer allowed, Carnivore Nairobi serves everything from chicken to beef, lamb, fish, turkey, pork and even crocodile, ostrich and ox BALLS!
All the meat is cooked for several hours on a massive charcoal BBQ located at the entrance of the restaurant. This is the Maasai way to cook the meat and it adds so much flavor to it.
Many people told us that the Carnivore restaurant in Nairobi is nothing like it was in the early 2000's but to our opinion, the ambiance was very nice, the service excellent and the meat delicious. And for an all you can eat meat restaurant, the price was more than descent.

I MADE A MISTAKE!!! Carnivore opened in September 1980 not in 1999 like the guy in the video (aka me😂) said.

Just came on to say the same. I lived in Kenya in the 80s and went there then. Main memories were the cool see saw things in the playground over looking the airport.
Ahhhh I forgot about this one...I was supposed to go here.
Graduated high school in 1997 in Kenya. Carnivore was a place not just for eating meats but also clubbing like the "super soul Sunday's" they used to do. I came to correct the timeline of when it was open as well. But Dave Mani always tries to correct his information. Thanks for correction. Back the 80's and 90's we did get to eat the exotic meats.

aah! Carnivore! its so nostalgic we used to rock and party at carnivore when I was in campus it was the go to place many people have met their wives there.

We actually were there again un Sunday night. We took all our family from Canada there. 🇨🇦
We tried Carnivore back in 2021 and it was really good, actually in Nairobi right now, but had other places on my must try list this time around. Wewent to the The al-yusra 2 nights ago and it was fantastic, anyway, we love your videos =)

My favorite restaurant/meat place. I started going to the carnivore restaurant when my son was 9 months and he is now 11 years old. We still eat there but not as often as my kids have outgrown the play area

Carnivore is way older to have been opened in 1999. As a young student in the mid 90s Carnivore was the place to be on a good Friday.

Love the food at Carnivore and sitting outside. It was fun to watch my travel group's reactions to vervets who came to play in the trees near us. If anyone leaves Carnivore hungry, they've done something wrong ;-)

I used to devour game meat there in the 90's. I stopped going when game meat was banned 😢. I loved the place though. It was also a famous for it's disco😂.

This is used as a time filling location, by UK tour companies, when the last flight from the Mara gets you to Nairobi many hours before your departure flight. We were very unimpressed, both with the food and the service, and would have been much happier to have gone to a much nicer restaurant, or even a hotel to fill the time. Off to Botswana in 10days, I can't wait 😊
Well if you are looking for a nicer restaurant m, next time try Talisman not too far from Carnivore. Otherwise, enjoy Botswana. 👍🏼

Yeah, we are trying but they are not answering us. We simply want to confirm with them that we can film. Since it's a "fancier" spot, we don't want to show up there with our camera and be turned around...
I also thought the green thing with the dawa was a straw. I spent a solid minute trying to figure out if it had a blockage in it. I felt my IQ take a dip when I was told it's a muddler (for crushing the lemons)

Ohh no you missed wild beasts, it’s best meat I ever have. I worked there back in 1999 to 2001 and now in Texas . If I’m not wrong carnivore was still since 80’s my parents used to go there, it’s nice place to have fun.

Dear Dave. We love you in Africa. Please tell Tracy that in Africa, South Africa especially. Chicken livers, gizzard, feet, necks and intestine have always been the so called "economic" portions that most families living below the bread line have preferred. I personally love those portions because I grew up enjoying them. Give the livers a try. My favorite Italian restaurant in Sandton specializes in chicken livers and Italian bread. Hint hints

Yes we did! I don't remember now but Tracey said the price while we were having a drink at the bar and I even put the prices in USD and KSH on the screen.

We simply think that it is a gun place to go with friends, and that most, not all, the meat was good. That is all.
