HONG KONG - One of the most popular Hong Kong meals is Cantonese roast meat, and today we’re going on an extreme bbq meat tour in Hong Kong!
Huge thank you to Virginia for helping me arrange this Hong Kong food tour. Check out her videos @hongkongfoodtours and her food tours: humidwithachanceoffishballs.com/
Places we ate:
Sun Kwai Heung BBQ food (maps.app.goo.gl/s1czVB2zn8AAs...) - First up on this Hong Kong meat bbq tour we’re going to a place that serves some of the best and juiciest char siu in Hong Kong. We were lucky to see some of the process where the meat is marinated, roasted, then coated in a sweet glaze.
Total price - 200 HKD ($25.57)
Wing Hap Lung (maps.app.goo.gl/X9tayK8hBpvLK...) - Many Cantonese barbecue restaurants in Hong Kong are not longer permitted to use charcoal, but Wing Hap Lung still has the license, and they still roast pig over fire.
Total price - 200 HKD ($25.57)
Yat Lok (maps.app.goo.gl/bezf96Kx2ED7a...) - Yat Lok roast goose is legendary I first came here many years ago - but this time we were able to get into the kitchen to see a little bit of the goose roasting process. It’s still family run and they sells hundreds of geese per day. What I love about Yat Lok is they tend to roast their goose a little longer than other places so the skin is extra crispy and smoky.
Total price - 290 HKD ($37.07)

Amen
My man Mark.
He is a restless traveler.
Mark, I think Virginia has been an outstanding and knowledgeable host. Thank you Virginia!
I have to say...the ten year anniversary goose leg bite had me in tears. What a metaphor for the growth and success of this channel, and the joy Jing and you have brought to so many people.
Once again, Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Wiens!
HtqKS #,
BBQ and Virginia are both treasures in Hong Kong.
The epic goose drumstick moment made me emotional. So proud of you Mark and what you and Ying have accomplished.
BBQ in Hong Kong with Mark Wiens and Virginia? Yes, please! Legendary, as usual.
Brilliant Mark and Ying! Virginia is a fabulous addition to this series too. 10/10. 🙏🏽
Hi Mark, you are doing what I would love to do for a living: travelling and eating food. Both things are my passion, and I am therefore a huge fan of you. I have watched so many videos from you, and I really like the respect that you always show when eating food that is showed here. And that even though you have so many subcribers, you are still so humble.
I love that slo-motion reenactment!!! 33:41🤣🤣❤❤❤❤
The boss has no time for ending, he wanted to rush back to the kitchen...😀😃😄👏👏👏
That's a good thing about Mark's channel, he makes the effort to show the often under-appreciated dedication that cooks have for their craft.
That's his signature facial expression because the food is delish!
Mark you are a foodcaster when it comes to how you explain how the food is prepared and the flavors of the food . It's like a culinary play-by-play.
Virginia is cutest of all. Mark and her are perfectly suited for this series.
Mark, you are amazing. I have been watching your videos for quite some time and I have to say that this is one of the best videos I've watched. My mouth was watering as soon as you took a bite of the goose. I love your descriptions that you give of the tastes and it feels like those flavors run in my mouth as I watch you. I appreciate you and everything you do. I wish you could be my food guide if I ever decided to travel to these amazing places. Thank you so much for sharing these amazing experiences with us!!!
Mark Wiens never fails to show the food I want to eat! Thank you Mark
WELL DONE MARK & VIRGINIA...THANK YOU BOTH!!!
I love Virginia on your channel, you both vibe so well together.

Hi Mark and Virginia! All that looks so delicious! Enjoy! Love all these videos!
I keep trying to convince my family to make a trip to Hong Kong, but they ask me rhetorically, “What’s there?!” I tell them that it’s a food lover’s paradise. Thanks, Mark, for the great video and having Virginia accompany you on this adventure.
Another awesome and delicious video, thanks Mark, and Virginia!

i love how virginia is marks informational buddy, it gives these videos a little added bonus with facts on the side. haha
I can fall asleep to the sound of that chopping of meats in the background and watching Mark and Virginia enjoying their meal 😋
Mark censoring the roast geese🤣
hahaha i loved that
I was wondering why he did that.
@@starwars101photo he didn't in the thumbnail, so I'm going to assume they just looked too morbid and unappealing to the western palate hahaha
Thank you Mark for sharing differnt foods around the world. Your videos are very interesting and knowledgeable. ❤❤❤❤
That very enjoyable! I love Humid with a chance of fish balls !
The Goose looked great, and the texture and how Roasting is done showed how the flavor and ingredients helps everything else comes together,to make a great meal. The recipe made the perfect combination for the pig to come together nicely, and delicious to.
Wow now that looks good wooooooo hooooooooo I'm loving hong Kong and the mini history and food lessons good job mark keep up the good work
The iconic tilt to the right with that big smile for the aha moment! Love watching you eating that way always, Mark!
OMG Mouth watering, Char Siu so easy to cook, believe me!!
Great video as usual!.
Been to Shanghai, Chengdu, Beijing, and some other neighboring cities but HK is still my fav! Great to see u visit so many great restaurants.
Thank you Mark for the GREAT HK food series. I have been your fans since long time ago and I am so lucky to have a chance to take a picture with you outside Yat Lok. You will never know how excited I am!!
Mark, we can tell when the flavor hits you because you lean back in the chair. God Bless!!!!
It's bleeding mouth watering. Thanks Mark it were a good watch.
Delicious food!!!! Thanks Mark
Mmmmmm... This has to be one of my top 5 favorite episodes for sure!! The grilled succulent pork looks perfectly balanced from the charred skin to the juicy meat & fat glazed in sweet drippings. Omgoodness!! I hasn't yet had the pleasure to taste grilled goose but it looks somewhat similar to duck which is one of my favorites. The way Mark took a bite into the bbq goose drumstick was pure gold hearing the snap from the crispy skin automatically made my stomach roar lol. Every restaurant displayed looks amazingly delicious & tasty for sure!! The unique techniques used to craft signature meats in each restaurant is so phenomenal!! Thanks Mark so much for your outstanding documentation of food & culture!! This was so awesome like always!! Safe travels & blessings to you your family!! Happy Mother's Day to your Wife & Mother as well!! Cheers!! 🍗🍖🥢🍚🍻
Mark is the best
Love you Mark for everything ❤
Awesome thanks Mark

Is mmmmMark getting a sense of humor ,the music when he bites into the goose ,I could almost taste that skin frig,,,,,So jealous .Thx for inspiration to travel. U and bourdain will always be my hero's. When he died I kinda gave up a little ...Then I found you, U gave me hope. Peace migrationology for life.
Great video Mark!
Looks so good!! I like that they cook it longer!!
Mark you are the best for what you do thank you so much love from Canada
Watching this video brought back memory of a similar joint in downtown Taipei Taiwan, famous for their goose noodle soup. As a child, I ate there a few times and each dining experience in this busy corner shop was rich and unforgettable. With the hustle and aroma in the surrounding blocks detectable as you approach this place, it just amped up your expectation higher looking forward to a great bowl of goose noodle soup.
Another awesome and delicious video
I'm drooling right now!!
Let’s meat again! Love all these theme food tour. Definitely put on my must visit list next time i travel to hk.
Woah so delicious 🤤
@3:53 you can tell Mark is being genuine about how serious the chef is about the pork, considering how annoyed he looks that Mark won’t let him put the meat in the oven 😂
A definite highlight of this episode was when Mark was comparing and contrasting the suckling pig and the conventional roast pig at Wing Hap Lung. His explanation of the fine details was superb. And, it was good to know that the charcoal made a difference (as it should have). Another great sequence was when Mark picked up that roast goose drumstick at Yat Lok, as he was remembering that first roast goose that he had in 2014 (with the slow mo kicking in)...that was so poignant. As a long time viewer of Mark's channel, that was a special moment. It was about food and more at that point.
love Marks sense of humor
Thank you for the wonderful video of eating juicy char siu in Hong Kong 👍
Virginia é muito bacana, come tanto quanto o Mark. Adorando os vídeos de Hong-Kong!! Saudações do Brasil 🇧🇷 🇧🇷

Wow its awesome
I noticed some of the content was blurred out. Mark it's ok to show the whole shot. If someone gets offended they don't need to be. I love your videos. I've been watching your videos for years. Keep up the good work.
Not some people it is actually youtube will block the entire video. Sad but censor what you need to bring us good food without getting the video banned.
Hong Kong is always epic!

Awesome series Mark. My mouth was watering with every visual of this episode. Haven’t been to HK in 7 years, I need to head back. Virginia was a great contributor to this series. 😂 at the re-enactment of your first bite of goose from 2014. Now excuse me while I track down some BBQ pork for my next meal. 😋
