Screen is so much clearer without that stupid frensel lens or whatever it's called. It was like playing it through a vaseline covered screen before. Thanks for making this!

Very well done and informative video. I'll probably leave my cabinets with these screens as they come, but if I change my mind it's good to know how to fix things.

I’ve did it on my Field edition but I HAD to remove the side marquee screws because they were keeping the big marquee in place. Other than that pretty straightforward as you described! Thanks man🔝

      Hi Glen,
      Thank you for the comment.
I bought 2 of the MC one to try the CRT lens remove
and one to keep in my collection, just like you do.
I watch your videos all the time. Check out my Q*BERT
Knocker and the firmware update, corrects the aspect ratio on Q*BERT.

Probably won't, they only reissue when they have some new spin on it.

Do you happen to know if these will work with the battery disconnected and plugged into the wall?

Wow these have lots more inside than I would have thought.

Hello, yes I would say they are just as complex as the real arcade machine.
The electronics, the controls, are spot on in design, and the game plays great.
      Thank you for the comment.

Looked like the lens may have distorted the view, likely less the closer to the screen.... Since your removed it..I can see clearly now, the snow is here..

The lens is supposed to make the LCD look like a CRT rounded corners the dome effect.
      Thanks Trav for the reply.

Hi Johnny yes I know you have the field edition.
But if you look at it I think the upper part of screen would tilt down just like the arcade release version of Missile Command.
Should all be in one piece just taller than arcade release version of the cabinet.
      Thank you for the reply..

Great video and channel! I've had my replicade missile command for close to a month now. With LOTS of practice I've managed to consistently score in the 25 -35 thousand range. The game gets noticeably slower when the playfield gets congested with missiles, UFO's, planes, smart bombs etc during the two blue waves and following gray wave. (I haven't the skill just yet to get past the 1st gray). Anyone else come across this?

Hi Rob, thank you for the positive comment.
Yes I have noticed this a little, and have reproduced the same behavior in MAME.
Using the original arcade ROMS in MAME.
Remember this game was developed in six months time, then released in July 1980.
The CPU was a MOS Technology 6502, don't laugh, running at 1.25 Mhz.
Dealing with the code and the hardware in the day, we are playing in 1980's technology.
So my guess would be, the more sprites on screen, the slower the screen graphics get updated.
I wish I had the original arcade machine in my shop. It's still a blast to play, no pun intended LOL.

I think I would just put up with the CRT lens rather than void my warranty and break my machine. And 11:34 THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!

    • @wileyhansen4143
      @wileyhansen4143 Před rokem +1

The warranty on these cabinets is only 100 days. People concerned about voiding the warranty could always just wait three months for it to expire before proceeding. Nothing is broken by doing this (as long as you're careful). The CRT lens is just a piece of plastic that lays in place. It can easily be put back in later if desired.

Hi Wiley could not have said it better.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Looks so much better with out the lens.
I have a Food Fight on the way, we will see
what the lens looks like on that one.
