New Wave Toys Running Without Battery Test

There has been quite a lot of talk about what happens one day if the batteries in our New Wave Toys goes bad. Here in this example I hope to show what you can do if this happens. If you do need to replace the battery make sure you match the milliamp hour and the voltage rating on the battery that’s in your New Wave Toys Arcade.

I did get the same ones as far as I know.
Scott yes it looked like it, good job. Did you get the pic I sent on FB NWT group???
@@mikecomptech Yes, but I don't know where it went...
The candle LEDs are the nicest and easiest mod. The full time attract mode lighting would've been nice option. Maybe it's me, but it seems to be a tad too bright in cabinet now. Maybe some diffusing or filter could be applied to upper lighting? The dispenser motor mod is neat, but I don't find it much trouble to manually rewind fortunes or pull them from pinch roller to stop dispenses. A good upgrade would be to run a multi cell 18650 1S (parallel) Battery pack to solve the problem of fortune perforation sync due to battery power drain curve. I also think they should've left IR sensor enabled in 5min ATTRACT mode switch position as an AND to both features rather than an OR.
The camera makes it look way brighter than it really is, in person it looks great! Very evenly lit and more detailed. You are talking about the full time lighting would have been a nice option on the original design. Yes I agree but maybe they thought it would drain the battery even faster. That's why I added that feature myself, and so far I have had it on battery only in attract mode and it went way past 5Hr's just the attract mode, cabinet lights always on, and not running the full mode and dispensing tickets. After 5Hr's the blue LED power light on the back was not blinking. When you are on battery power, if the battery falls below a certain level that LED will blink. Ticket reverse was a option that was easy to design and incorporate. Everyone has there way of doing things, and it works really good. About the battery current, that could be done easily as well. Adding a 18650 dual cell like a 4400mah battery would be easy plenty of room in the bottom of the cabinet. This would be a good install, will do testing on this as well. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09CH9FC35?th=1 I also agree the IR should have been on with the attract mode enabled as well yes. So it would trigger on movement and speak every 5 mins. I thank you for your comments, more videos are coming....
It's definitely an android system -- I remember other android devices having the exact same UI on shutdown
Yea that's what I thought I used to see that on my Nexus 7 tablet many years ago. And since then I found out that NWT do indeed use a Android core to run there custom emulator Very cool.... Thanks for the comment...
Do all cabs open up from the back in similar ways? Maybe I should remove all my battery cables -- because I'd rather be on all power supply banks
Yes they do they cover the screws with stickers you can rub over them with your finger, and you can feel the indentation. All you can do is try it out and see which ones can or can not work without the battery connected. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the update -- big difference for sure!
Thanks so much, it's fun to do this and do it to possibly help someone in the process. Thank you for the comment, lots more content coming....
The additional LEDs do give a more balanced glow. Am I the only one who thinks that clown is CREEPY???
You are the first one to comment on that clown head running on a disco LED light, lolololol 🤣 I am surprised that most of my comments were not saying something about the creepy clown in the background. My wife said when she is in the shop that thing is hideous. I think it's funny. Thanks so much for the comment. Lots more content coming. Might be without the clown head, ok how about I shut it off. Thanks again have a good weekend....👍
Another great video! What's that sound at about czcams.com/video/yRzjgjMTjNA/video.htmlsi=j-gzp3yAHxz3Ag0P&t=727 ? Wasn't just the 'dropping resistors' ???
TRAV!!!!!!!!!!!! I do have other Arcades running in the other room in the shop. One of them is Metamorphic Force arcade. I heard it say "Heave" I heard something probably plastic I may have hit my light. I was not me if that's what you mean lololol 😃💩💩💩 Thanks for the comment, more to come....
All these little upgrades really look fantastic. Thanks for making videos of all the steps you've taken to add this cool functionality!
No problem I love doing this and sharing my mods with everyone. More content coming.
Greaylt work, thanks!
Thank you for the comment. More content coming..
This is fantastic. Where do I send my Zoltar and cash? ;)
Ah thanks so much, greatly appreciated, what mods you want just curious? I mean it's unlimited what you can do to these, I waited like most 1.5 years for it. Thanks for the comments. The camera doesn't do it justice looks much better in person. This thing is begging to be modified, I kept one original.😃
@@mikecomptech I'd probably want all the lighting changes. I'm less interested in the ticket dispenser, but after watching your video I thought -- wouldn't it be cool if when it dispensed wishes, it instead sent a signal to a little display (or some raspberry pi setup) that sat next to it and showed a random wish in text form, with text to speech using Zoltar's voice? A boy can dream...
@@theZeroSleepYT Yea exactly what I mean, unlimited. Text to speech Zoltars AI generated speech. 😃 A scrolling display right above Zoltars head running horizontal.
@@mikecomptech oh yeah -- could use one of those cheap little projectors
oh wait, you meant on the inside -- yeah, that'd be badass
That definitely is a mod I like. I have to get my screwdriver out every time I want to wind up my tickets. It looks like you took a Zoltar out of one of your units and set him up on some Tinker Toys.
Yes indeed 😋I did. I like to see who is being observant. The Tinker Toys worked perfectly, once I leveled all the posts. Had to have a stand for it to sit on, as all the wires exit vertically. The Zoltar in the background has a problem, if you noticed the current draw on the power supply is fluctuating a little so we have a little binding internally, so I will be disassembling it on You Tube another video. Thank you for the comment. Stay tuned.
Lights on all the time is the best mode. Love the flicker lights too. Well done ! 👍
Thank you I appreciate that, I like it best that way as well. Thanks for the comments. More to come.
Cool Project
Thanks for the comment it's a lot of fun. Lots more to come as well.
Thanks for the video. I am no electronics expert so while I am intrigued, I am not sure if I can take on these mods. I was trying to see if all the resistors are joined together to one point to connect to the new ground wire or if they need to be separated, but I couldn't quite make it out.
I show on my wiring diagram that all the resistors are indeed connected at one end, that's the connection that goes to the new ground I made on the main board.
@@mikecomptech Thanks. I don't know how to read wiring diagrams so I appreciate the info!
@@gilbreen No problem glad to help you out. Thank you for the comments.
@@mikecomptech I was wondering if you could take a picture top down on the wiring on the switches, I can almost read the schematics. I have it installed, but not complete. Any help appreciated..
@@scottmcmillan711 Hi Scott congrats on getting the switches and mounted on the back of Zoltar. If you purchased the same switches I used then orientate them just like I drew them on my diagram I will post the pic on the NWT FB forum, so look there.
I just did a video on a Voice controlled LED lamp at Dollar Tree for $1.25. You could use the small control board in the unit to turn on the cabinet display lights by voice command. It has mofette drivers that can drive LEDs directly or a relay. I shot a video where I replaced the built in 4 LEDs with 2 DC gearmotors that will come out in 2 days.
Ok that's pretty cool, I watched your video on Dollar Tree has a voice-controlled lamp for $1.25. Turn ON-OFF, DIM, Brightness & Color. So I will be looking for the other one you do. Thank you for the comments and the info on the light. And see if I can find it at my local DT store. 😄
Mine arrived today it does work but the neckless is stuck between his head which is preventing it and the mouth from moving. Is it easy to take apart?
Yes it is, if you watch this video and take your time, you can fix this. 😀 Good luck and feel free to let me know if you were successful. Thanks for the comment.
I had the same issue with mine. Removed all the tiny screws from the back and reached in to dislodge it. Fairly easy aside from the fact that the plastic is extremely soft and most of the plastic threads came out on the screws upon removal.
@@patalexander4624 So that's unfortunate indeed. I have several of these taken all them apart to fix various things very miner, mostly the fringe and a little nylon fibers from the fringe. All screws performed great all backed out no plastic threads, I know what you are talking about. If your screws are stripped out, get some plastic tooth picks snap off a little bit of the plastic tooth pick, incert that into the screw hole. And thread in the screw these are self tapping screws, be sure to clean off the old plastic on the screw before you reinsert the screws, this will work. Done it many times, hope this helps you......😀
This thing is perfect out of the box. Your mods just not necessary.
You are correct, I have another one that is original not modified it's perfect. I love it. But it is fun to be creative. Me and others like to do this as a curiosity and a desire to explore new ways of doing things and to see what develops in the process.
@@mikecomptechPlease keep making the videos, they are very interesting and informative!
