Joe was the leader of our band in the 60's when he was 15 years old. Many are called ....few are chosen...Joe is of the latter....A BORN LEADER..

I'm digging these interviews, but they should really turn down the compression on the vocal mic..

they're picked up a bit too much room on this one. the Chris Potter ones have a weird frequency dependent panning that is really weird sounding...

I've seen quite a few of these now, and I gotta say, seems like the questions could be better ...

Juan Manuel Trujillo I agree. Lovano is very patient with him here, and rises above the superficiality.

Imagine the douchiest college music teacher you ever saw. This guy has 3 more PhD's then that douche.

I have to agree. Usually, Schroeder asks his interviewees more probing questions. I really enjoy this interview series. I don't know if it was because he was starstruck by Lovano or what, but when he asks Lovano: "You were decked out like a star in your white suit and sunglasses, playing for a big crowd in Montreaux. What does that do for you?", I realized he had already asked a version of that very shallow question several times. I'm generally very impressed with Schroeder as an incisive interviewer; this just isn't his best work.

Hes playing a Balanced Action here. Nowadays he mostly plays the Borgani Joe Lovano model. I've seen him play a Conn transition before as well.
