  • Waste Management runs different more unique trucks in Silverado/Modjeska Canyon, here you will see what are called "shuttle Amreps" collecting trash and a Mack MR wittke Emptying the bodys!
    It’s about time I posted this video. I thought for sure I would have posted it by now since these trucks run only 10 minutes away from me. These trucks are one of a kind (well 3 of a kind technical) they are basically amrep pods haha.
    Since Silverado and Modjeska Canyon have a lot of streets that are crazy tight and are not accessible for full-size truck by any means, waste Management have special equipment do the tight spaces/streets. Having normal mini Amreps would be very efficient because the nearest landfills is about 30 minutes to an hour depending on what area/canyon they are in, that’s why the shuttle Amreps are perfect after they fill up they both go to an assigned area and wait for the wittke Front Loader to empty the shuttles! If the front loader is far away they have time to take there lunch break haha.
    Here are how the routes work in Silverado/Modjeska Canyon, the main road is collected by full size Amreps, the tight areas however the shuttles service for trash, however the residents have a choice for recycling if they bring there cart to the main road where the full size trucks collect it gets recycled otherwise it goes in with the trash and green waste.
    Hope you enjoyed watching the video! Huge thanks to all the drivers in this videos for being so chill and letting us film! Also huge thanks to Aaron and Moises for letting me join on this awesome trip!

    This system would work really well for a large park because the park could own and operate some of these little pod trucks and leave the pods for a municipal garbage contractor to pick up when they are full.

    2:00: Two things: 1, it is very rare that there are turn signals, instead of parapedos, on the front of a truck. In a car I do see it normal, but in a truck... And 2: How come there is a vertical container? Normally, fixed containers are horizontal. But seeing one vertically... Weird, no, the following.

    Awesome Video Lucas! Wow these shuttle amreps are just awesome! Really like the system they have going for this route with the Wittke picking up the bodies, wonder how many bodies it has to pick up a day between the 2 shuttle amreps? Really enjoyed both trucks, the Frieghtliner was neat bit older and not as modernized as the Autocar, the Autocar looks like a remolded version of the Freightliner like they changed some things and got an Autocar cab. That Wittke was really cool sounded nice and that exhaust pipe going up along the side looked really cool! Those Ottos do not work for the shuttle amreps smaller grabbers, they seem to slip around alot when getting picked up. Overal great video Lucas hope you can get more footage of these trucks. Amazing Video!

      Not really a problem tho, the trucks are probably stationed near by for these routes, meaning that only one truck really is making a long distance drive. Especially in mountainous terrain you cant easily put a transfer station there and they unload so frequently having them drive 30 minuets every few streets is wasteful on fuel and time.

      @djhiggins4431 Před 5 lety

      @@rolac6109 wow they actually had a truck come in and get the can out? The truck would be capable of crushing the can so easily and it wouldnt take up much space, I'd expect the driver would tell dispatch or the route managers, crush it move on and then the route manager would simply drop off a new can that day. They keep thousands of them at the shop and sell them regularly. I accidentally threw away a lid of someones can once and they replaced the whole can with a bigger heavier duty one

      Probably because the waste station or land fill is decades away and so they need to use the pod system in what ever rural area they are in and with that a front end loader truck to sit and wait for them to collect all the trash in that area and dump the trash they have collecting and then go and head to the waste transfer station or land fill its probably faster for them to do it that way
