  • Hello everyone! Today I'm going over my theory as to the captain of the Myraham's role in the Winds of Winter and #asongoficeandfire as a whole.
    Be sure to subscribe if you enjoyed this video! What do you think? Is there anything I missed? What do you think of #houseofthedragon so far? More #asoiaf content is on the way!
    Thank you all for watching! I'll be back with more theories next week, in a collab video! Art in this video is by TheMico! Art in the thumbnail is by Zippo514 (the Euron piece) and Cristi Balanescu (the Jon Snow piece).

    If I was Robb I would entrust Lord Mallister with the will too, he is the most capable Riverlord by far and one of the most competent in general. He destinguished himself in Roberts Rebellion, the Greyjoy Rebellion and his guerilla warfare against Jaime's army and later linking up with Robb's troops enabled the Battle of the Whispering Woods to happen as it did. Later he also excelled at the Battle of the Fords and Battle of the Camps. Probably Robb's best agent aside from the Blackfish.

    The captain of the Myraham hiding Theon's baby (his daughter's son) from Robb after Theon and Robb ended up at war with one another would also be a great parallel to Ned hiding Jon (his sister's son) from Robert.

      maybe the captain doesn't feel the baby is safe enough with him, since both rivermen, iromen and northmen hate theon greyjoy. if they go to Jon he could be the one to hide the child in this "promise, Ned" situation.

    Fun theory-storming, but the problem I have with all such theories, such as “King Jon Snow” & “Princess Sand Snakes” from the show, is it would be near-impossible for any of Seven Kingdoms to accept bastard-status nobles as liege lord paramounts. Theon didn’t even take this girl as a saltwife; they barely respect Theon’s legitimacy. I’m not sure GRRM has a concrete plan to dislodge the monsters he’s installed as rulers over the different regions of Westeros

    *A crazy random theory I have:*
    Let's remember that Euron has a magic horn capable of dominating dragons and learned many things through dreams, just like Bran. Perhaps waking dragons (something Melisandre says, I think) is a metaphor for the horn Euron will use, which will cause the Wall to fall and this whole event causes Jon, a dragon, to rise again, but alongside the Others. In the third or fifth book Jon Snow dreams of being in ice armor and using a flaming sword. I believe that the dragon that Euron will dominate will be Jon, and Jon once dead and come back to life can become something different. ''Only death can pay with life,'' Melisandre once said. And GRRM has said that whenever one of his characters dies and returns, a part of him is gone forever. Perhaps Euron and Jon have that connection that will bring the Long Night, and Jon will side with the ''enemies''. Let's remember that Stark blood is ancient and magical, it is the blood of the First Men and the Night King was probably a Stark. Maybe the end isn't a heroic Jon, but a Jon accepting his old blood and embracing the darkness.

      I believe Jon will come back with Bloodraven at the helm. Before Jon died, it's implied that he Warged into Ghost. It's also been implied that Ghost is one of the many agents of Bloodraven.
      We also know that if you warg into an animal before you die, you slowly lose yourself over the animal. We also know that warging into humans is an abomination. But Bloodraven doesn't care. He killed men who were protected under guest right.
      Knowing all of this, we could theorize when Jon warged into ghost, the clock started. Allowing Bloodraven to do what he needs to do as Jon and Bran are essential to his plans.
      The only question is, how much control will Bloodraven have? Warging into humans isn't as simple as a wolf. They will fight it tooth and nail. How strong is Jon's personality, and how long will Jon be dead?

    I’ve already concluded that Asha is likely to be removed as a superfluous POV now that she’s reunited with Theon. She was intended (in Dance, at least) to keep up with Davos-less Stannis and it’s hard to see where her arc may go if she lives beyond the Kingsmoot.

  • @thelateescapist8266
    @thelateescapist8266 Před 9 měsíci +7

    I've long believed that Theon would be ruling the Iron Islands by the end, based largely on the tale of Torgon the Latecomer and Asha's reaction to the tale. GRRM wouldn't establish a precedent for overturning a kings moot unless it was going to be a factor in the story at some point. Theon's inability to produce hiers hadn't actually occurred to me as a factor, but after this video I'm convinced it's occurred to GRRM.

    • @bundayeti
      @bundayeti Před 4 měsíci

      In fairness, I never noticed any allusion to Theon's possible castration in the books and thought the showrunners changed things just to make it more shocking. Until GRRM explicitly states otherwise, I will consider Theon severely mutilated, but not castrated.
      As such, King Theon can still become a reality as far as I'm conserned.
      Also, even if he is, he need not disclose it to others and can just rule unto his death and appoint some relative as an heir. By such a point Asha may well have sons of here own, so there's that.

Theon's destiny with the old gods was foreshadowed in the Winterfell godswood when he prayed to the heart tree and heard Bran's voice. Now the old gods are calling him to a weirwood island. And I don't think it's to be executed by Stannis. It's so Bran can awaken the magic of the old gods in Theon before a weirwood as he did for Jon.

    To the question of why he would entrust such an important document to a commoner: it's the easiest thing in the world to make a merchant sea captain into the most loyal of followers with the stroke of a pen. Little appendix at the bottom of the will: "This document was signed and witnessed in wartime, deep within enemy territory, and its safe delivery entrusted to Captain Whatsisface of the Myraham. Should this will be brought intact to Oldtown as decreed by the King in the North Robb Stark, this man shall be compensated for his bravery with a castle and lands on the Eastern shore, and the title of Master."

    Good Theory and a Great Video. So we have 2 Possibilities who could have the Will, this Captain and Robb's widow. But who says it could not be both? What if Robb made 2 Copies? One he gave Jeyne and one for the Records in Old Town. I mean why should the Lords of the North believe Jeyne, She is the Daughter of Sybill Westerling, who made a pact with Tywin Lannister and was complicit in the Red Wedding. If Jeyne travels North to bring the Will to Robb's loyal Men, who says they believe her? We don't even know if Maege or Galbart will be with her and furthermore, we don't know if Howland Reed is friendly to Jon, Okay, he is Lyanna's Son, but he is also Rhaegar's Son and if Jon really comes down from the Wall and says he was freed from his vows from a Kinslayer (if Shireen will be still burned by Stannis that is something that will play a Part) who wants to be King, Howland could all tell who Jon really is because he wants to make sure Rikkon will inherit. The curious arrangement of the environment around Theon also suggests a potential rhyme to the past. Theon seems set to be a sacrifice. The croft is also beset by a storm of sort. Those options are fire and tree. What remains is some version of Theon taunting the Strom God and getting a response that might be beneficial to him. Likely an action by Bran, but one that would be interpreted by on lookers as he shouldn't be sacrificed. Maybe

    Where this theory falls apart IMHO is in its assumption that the Kingsmoot can just be "undone" by an heir of Theon appearing. But that is never going to work, because the Ironborn don't care much about rules or legality, if they did, they never would have accepted the Kingsmoot in the first place as it hadn't been held for millennia.
    They care about strength, and they follow whoever can give them the most, and that person is Euron, as he has proven already with his raids on the Reach and soon Oldtown. No ironborn is going to change his mind because a baseborn infant of a dead prince who was Balon's heir once turns up.
    Also, Euron has just been introduced, so to end his reign already in TWOW would be a waste of a great character. He is one of the characters I'm most certain we will see survive until the Dream of Spring.

    • @QuinnTheGM
      @QuinnTheGM  Před 9 měsíci +6

      My thought isn’t that Theon’s heir appearing will suddenly solve things, it’s more than Asha could advance the heir’s claim as a potential regent.

    • @frankvandorp2059
      @frankvandorp2059 Před 9 měsíci

      @@QuinnTheGM I don't think that would make her position any stronger than it already was during the Kingsmoot. Since that point her position only got worse, Asha got defeated and captured by Stannis, while Euron got victories in the South.
      I can see a potential heir to Theon play a role only if Euron is defeated and the Ironborn are conquered, and the conqueror forces the child upon the ironborn as their future lord, a puppet ruler loyal to the conqueror.

    Cat is robb's heir in his will. my theory goes an extra mile, robb wanted CAT to marry Jon. We see theon baby in 1 of Sam's chapters, at the citidel.
    IN the first book first Cat chapter Cat is thinking about producing another baby, We also see cersei father wanting cersei same age as Cat marring another younger man, If Cat marries Jon and have a kid(or not) there is no reason for the Lannister's to keep sansa (or arya if robb/cat still think they have her too). They the lannister would have a useless hostage with a young 30 year old woman who might be able to still have kids and her much younger 15-17 year old husband who can easily rule should she die.
    Also CAT is the only unifier to the North and the Riverlands.
