- have had this chaps by ralph Lauren wool overcoat for about a year and it needs wash so instead of taking it to the dry clean like the tag says...im going to try washing it at home. thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing...I have a biege coat that is a little dirty that is dry clean only.going to give this a try! 12/4 I washed my coat exactly like you did...it came out clean...its currently air drying, it came out a bit wrinkled...I will steam it..
thank you for posting this video...because of the pandemic my dry cleaner went out of business back in Aug/Sept...the few that are open are charging $10-$15 more when I used to pay $15 to have my coat cleaned. I did it myself and saved $25-$30! Thank you!
That coat looks so good! I have a light blue wool coat I got second hand that I love and have been really nervous to clean it myself. Thank you so much for the video, was lost knowing what to do or if I needed to take it somewhere. Really glad I can clean it at home
Great jacket! Thanks for the tips. I found a great wool jacket at the thrift shop today and I’m going to try.
I've been watching videos on washing wool coats and blazers, and I didn't have enough confidence to do it until I watched your video. My blazer hasn't been cleaned in a few years, and I wear it every fall/winter with a sweater underneath it instead of a heavy coat. Now I'm going to wash my blazer. Thank you very much for posting this video.
I washed my blazer on the "hand wash wool" setting this morning. I used a small amount of regular liquid detergent, and the blazer came out great. All of the buttons were still on it, too. I used a steam iron to press the inner lining carefully, and now it's hanging down the basement near a dehumidifier. Thank you for giving me the confidence to clean it. Your video is fabulous.
Im glad the video helped. Cheers to more Experiences to you and your blazer. 😎
Thanks for the tips. I have 3 of these army surplus jackets. I keep them on wood hangers because they always break the plastic ones.
Fabulous advice, fabulous music!!!🎼🎵🎶
Appreciate your video, including the music 🎶. You have given me the confidence to do this myself! ❤️
I like that I found one tonight at Goodwill somebody had just donated I'm trying to figure out how to get the smell out very old school 😁👍
Thank you
And I love that you got on there😊❤

Pretty much what I do. Problem at the moment, air drying during the winter, I tumble dry on low and use merino wool dryer balls to pummel the fibres and stop them from shrinking.
Great idea on the dryer balls simon, thanks. Stay warm
I recommend hanging it near your heat source. I lay my merino wool clothes by my heater. It helps to not dry out the air so much as well, like when the heat is on all night and you wake up dry and dehydrated. On hot days, my mom swears by hanging up wet towels to keep the house cool. I live in California and for some reason they avoid using the AC.
Just the comment and reassurance I needed to toss in 8 dryer balls into a xxl washing bag into the dryer. Found a sweet thrifted black wool coat I’d like to give another chance at life.
Thanks for sharing 👍
The music and your voice is soo soothing. I like your video, bro!
Thanks for the video
Thank you to everyone that have watched this xp 👍🏽😎
If u live in the north and dont know about wool you definitely missing out 👍🏻thanks for the video
That is a beautiful coat! I encourage you to use a wooden hanger. They are wider so they can carry a heavier weight of garments.
Cool. I just got me a sears plaid wool jacket and man it stinks and it's dirty around the collar and cuffs so can't wait to wash it!
Thank you! i feel more confident to wash my wool coat. lol
Nice video. Music great
Great job😊
Great! Thanks
Nice looking coat and you look nice in it but I would have liked to have seen if it fit the same after it dried.
This is a great video. Well done. 👍 I would suggest investing in a soft clothes brush. They work wonders.
Thank you Ivancho, I definitely will look into the brush... I dig your profile pic. Cheers
@@EJ4xp The picture is of The Mekon alien from the Dan Dare comics of the 1950s. A bit before my time, but I love the look. Cheers.
Like WTF is going on!?
The music..your voice...❤😂
Can you make some more videos, please?
Muchas gracias
Proper cleaning well done 👍 at dray-clean the just do with a steam and it’s not clean properly
I sadly did the same a few years ago to my wool coat that was just as long as yours and it completely shrunk. It became a waist coat. I was able to stretch it out. But never gained the confidence to wash again. Your video is giving me a false sense of confidence… about to take a leap of faith again. I will just stop the wash a few times just To make sure it isn’t shrinking again.
how did you manage to stretch it out, i lost my coat to a washing machine the other day and am struggling to get it back :(
@@grac3m3g I soaked it in warm water, put it on soaking wet and had my daughter and husband begin to pull evenly around the bottom of the coat to stretch it out length wise. They did the same for my arms. The coat doesn’t look perfect. But It sure looks better. I love the coat and Zara being Zara no longer carry’s the same quality and style. Hope it helps you out
@@BP-wv2xq Thank you ! i did manage to stretch it a little, but i’ll definitely try again with this method. i know it’s not likely to fully go back to normal, but thanks for giving me some hope !
@@grac3m3g I saw a video recently where they recommend (it was for a wool sweater, mind you) that you use some gentle baby shampoo, I've heard of others using hair conditioner re: sweater in the water... The trick after that is to allow the garment to immerse itself ie: no pushing down so that the item sinks as it is absorbing the water and releasing the air between the fibres.... Allow it to soak for quite a while, rinse it well... Of course no vigorous wringing out of the garment when you remove it you would then place it on towels to remove the excess water and proceed to reshape and gently pull the garment back to its original size and allow to air dry.... In the case of a coat, you could use a soak cycle in a washing machine... Hope that helps
Did you wash it on cold or warm? You should never wash delicates on warm water and never put it in the dryer.
Lol thank you
Thank you
Looks good and just get a hand steamer to get the wrinkles out😊
This is the raunchiest washing video I've ever seen 😄
Amen. 🙏🏼
Lmfao I wish all instructional videos where like this 😂
😂
Thank you Einstein. I feel confident to wash my coats at home and save Kr.600.-. Did you press the inside with a warm iron? I like your long coat too...old school is cool.
Yes I dig the old school look…And no I didn’t press the inside but now I know what I’d use. Thank you much and wash away.
This is really helpful and what's the song, i love it bro!
Thanks Kazmaz...the song is a stock audio from the filmora video editor I use....what games are you currently playing???
But k don’t want it shrunk and ruined. Why would you suggest that
now steam it and it will take all those wrinkles out and keep it fresh!!
Excellent suggestion Julez…much appreciated
So i just put it dryer by it self?
No dryer...hang dry in an airy room.. thanks...(edit update) Simon recommends putting in dryer balls if you choose the dryer way
a dryer will shrink it completely
Yust put in the garage and get another one
Dude I got big black stains in my overcoat and while washing it won't come out.. please help me..my overcoat looks exactly like yours...
I’d suggest mixing laundry detergent, vinegar and water and give it a scrub and see if that helps or eliminates the spot…let me know how it goes yea?
Try adding Borax to the water or hand rubbing the stain…
Don't let the moths eat it lol
Making sucks out stretch pants
So, I can hear you know that it’s a coat. Not sure why you also called it a jacket, but it’s a coat sir.
😐
why risk damaging the wool jacket in a washer when you could've just hand-washed it in a bucket? i prefer to take care of things I own so they last a long time. this is not the correct way to wash wool items
I’ll try the hand wash in a bucket next wash..thanks
@@EJ4xp I suggest watching a tutorial on hand washing wool clothing. There's a methodology to washing and drying these items properly.
@@33rdGemini wow maybe u should have made the video. He did it and it worked for him. He is only telling u what he did and what u mite want to try doing.

Took too long to get to the content
For real.. to much talking! Smh
Thats what fast forwarding is for
This is a great example of what not to do😂
I love your voice. Your video is too slow for me and kinda infuriating, as I'm a highly impatient person. Make a shorts version for people like me! 😅
You can change the playback speed of videos
