I'll bet heads, cam, intake jobs are the reason they sell so many stroker kits 😊. It's a vicious addiction! 😅
The slippery slop of horsepower is real!
I swear its worst than drugs because of how easy it is to spend it.
100%. I Did the trick flow track heat top end kit back in the mid 2000’s. Definitely woke it up!!
Yup, for the money, you can't beat em!
I wasn't super happy with my budget h/c/I. But with the on3 kit I'm happy as sh now.
Turbos make me happy too! lol
Would you skip the heads cam and intake and do the on3 kit first?
I'd like to see a stock 5.0 on just an on3 kit. Also when I put the heads on my car I didn't realize I was gonna lose a little compression. Which is much better for boost.
Yes, it's worth it. Also, a heads/cam/intake car absolutely does not need a Holley Terminator X. These cars have been running around for 3 decades without it. Plenty of people have gone plenty fast on the factory EFI, including speed density.
These cars run like a mofo with the right hci combo even on a 302. A lot of people just need to spend the time to do their research. Seen a lot of simple combos kill it on the street. Most important thing is to be realistic about your expectations and just have fun!
Buy it because your son will have life time if memories
Facts
All most definitely worth it you must not have drove a stock one in a while😂 Also a good point on buying a little lager head or intake for down the road you might wanta just up to a 347 or boost later on 😊
Best mods on my 89 GT back in the day!! My baby had GT 40 Y303 heads 1-70 rollers GT40 upper n lower intake, 65mm intake, stock cam,, but that was all I needed to get me past those LT1 Z28 at the track n on the streets!! Oh 355 gears ⚙️ best money 💴 spent!!❤️❤️
Happy woth my GT40s, B cam, Explorer set up for now. Runs good, males enough power to destroy the tires into third. Seems like everyone has the same build now. AFR, Systemax and a FTI cam.
Lets be honest...these cars are a hole you pour $$$ into. I agree with what you say, but my gt40 head, explorer intake/TB/MAF, B cam coupe, while no world beater, will have to work for now. Gives me just enough performance to fuel dreams!
I got a stock 92 5.0 as my first fox. Second Fox i got a 93 with the full Trickflow top end kit and wow night and day. So much more fun.... Not gonna be out running much of anything that is coming out these days but its alot of fun and you can kick aome tires!!!!
If you’re planning on boost and not getting an aftermarket blocker. The cheap gt40p heads, cam, intake is the route to take.
It's never enough you gonna always want more
Facts buddy!
So true lol. I went from intake exhaust to H/C/I to vortech on 10lbs. Now I want a 408w stroker 😂
I've got 24lb Excell injectors and they hit hard, I'm loving the performance
It's worth the fun 🤷♂️
100%
Dash Light said "Check Brakes" LOL as he was in the middle of shifting
The hci set up i got my 87 Gt years ago is trick flow track heat intake trickflow 185 cnc heads ( which I believe are unavailable from trickflow now ) comp cams xe 270 cam and 1.6 rockers
Alright Foxcast..... I'm having a midlife crisis lol. I've been offered a 79 Pacecar that needs some work to be back together.... it would take me away from my racing hobby for a bit BUT would directly connect me with my son and his Love of Foxbodies (he has 2 of his own lol)
What would you do? Lol lol
Work with your son family is #1
@timezone4907 yeah, it didn't take thinking on that one to long to realize how stupid I sounded.... I got the Pace Car. Lol lol
@@DriftyBitslooks like I got you back into a fox body
If it helps you bond with your son, thats a no brainer for me!
@@FoxcastMedia yeah that was kinda a dumb thought that exited my brain cavity. 😆 lol
That cat SOUNDS KILLER. What do you have for exhaust and mufflers?
Great video!
Thank you sir!
That thing sounds great
Awesome content thanks caleb
Damn that thing sounds good.
Talked to a guy with HCI, he wasn't happy with it. Stock throttle body and mass air, injectors, exhaust system, with automatic and stock rear end. No research or planning.
What’s better a trick flow manifold or a elderbrock
I would like to know what your honest opinion and thoughts are with gear to gear timing on a fox body
Yes it was worth it
I've got twisted wedge 170 heads on mine, each time I hammer little bit more I'm shocked it pulls hard
Aftermarket SBF parts are getting so expensive that you may as well go for a coyote swap. The good name brand HCI is about $4,000 and you still need a bunch of supporting parts. Some parts can be bought used to save money but it does come with risk ,unless you get them from someone you know.
Lol
Not sure what planet you live on but it cost me 5k 30 years ago. Tfs street heat head's . Intake . Cam . Rockers. TB. MAF . With stage 1 touch up match porting. With me doing the build.
So if you're saying 4k 30 years later. In my book . That cheap as hell. All things considering . Plus if you look for all that used . You can get it cheaper .
Lolol
You should read what I wrote again. I never said it only cost $4000.
I coyote swapped my hatch and it cost me close to 18k to do it properly without a built motor. Even at 6k for HCI thats a third the price of a coyote for most people.
I understand that the cost of building an SBF to achieve coyote power levels needs to be taken into account. I'm assuming that your estimate of $18k includes a transmission. However, how long do you think a T-5 transmission will last behind an SBF with 400HP? This is what I meant by "supporting parts". A 400HP SBF requires everything from an exhaust system, fuel injectors, Roller rockers, pushrods, taller valve covers, mass air meter, throttle body, MSD, ignition parts, and a new clutch or stall converter. The cost of these parts adds up quickly. @GamingwithIinfected
Less and less people and friends to enjoy the foxbody hobby with as time goes by. Sux
We out here buddy
Tell me about it. One of my buddies passed away and I can’t look at a red fox or a red 65/66 coupe without bringing memories I don’t want. Been over a year
That’s kinda natural, as people move on hobby-wise and as the cars become older, or even left in the dust…pun intended. But I don’t think these cars are going anywhere for a while.
What size injectors and fuel pump are you running in this car?
Awesome video, 💯
This car sound awesome. What mufflers are on it
@FoxcastMedia I put together a stock bottom end 302 with junkyard gt40p heads Anderson n41 cam 1.6 rockers ford motorsport single plan intake 1in spacer 650 double pumper I have a set of ford racing x303 aluminum 1.94/1.60 heads just sitting here on the shelf you think I should replace the gt40p with the x303 heads ?
What’s your opinion on using the x cam with hci. I hardly ever hear anything about it. Always the b cam. The lsa is tight and lift is good and revs high but nobody talking about it. You work with this so wondering if you have any experience good or bad. Would help me out thank you
My 90 gt with all the popular bolt ons is plenty for me,oh and my torque boxes are straight😂
You don't have to run a lower compression ratio if you run boost. That's just a myth. The technology is there, we have the fuels to handle 11 & 12:1, even 13:1 compression ratio.
Is HCI worth it absolutely no need for anything else but as money allows you can gradually add to better take advantage of HCI but even without car will be faster and funner!
as long as you have the almighty b cam...
The B cam conquers all!
it always has. I just did a dart iron eagle and put a 20 year old b303 cam, well because i could.
❤Thank you for sharing God bless you
maybe it's explained and i missed it, but does the basic subscription (supporter) get me in the drawing for this car? also, are those the only 2 ways to be entered? the "supporter" and the "ultimate"? thanks
will the seat belt be functional at giveaway? lol
It will now if I buckle it
I live in San Diego and have to use smog legal stuff 😢
I have a genuine question, is supercharging without aftermarket intake and heads a good idea?
how much is that stang at the beginning of the video putting out to the tires? and torque.. my 91 LX 5.0 Coupe, SVT Chip, stock heads and Cam, Explorer intake ,1 5/8th long tubes and flow master mufflers , Mac hi flow H pipe with cats and 3 inch tails, 76 mm mass air 75 mm TB just going from 3.55 to 4.10 gears with my z-Spec it feels like i picked up 50 horse with Nitto NT 555 R2 245 55 16 on stock Ponies on the rear it grabs the road like is on glue. just goes no wheel spin at all on 1st gear launch, I can how ever chirp 2nd. with Mickeys ET Street S/S 255 50 16 i get no spin at all with 1st gear launch it just gets up and goes, no chirping 2nd either. Mickeys Thompson Tires Rule the Street.
I wish you would dyno this combo
Can you get by without the terminator x?
you need some way of tuning
You can, but the car will hunt/surge/stall
any cheaper/ easier tuning options?@@FoxcastMedia
So what does this combo make to the wheels?
Just to see how back in the days this type of set up’s was beast, if you had it you were “fast” AF 😬… with most of the newer cars now (stock) will destroy a FBO fox. 😬
Technology.
I'm surprised that t5 survived
Foxcast, Are 4.10's bad for driving? what is rpm in a 5 spd at 70?
I can tell you from experience. Around town, city driving 4.10s aren't bad, fun even. Light to light they're a blast. If you do a lot of highway driving, not so much. Especially if you're still running a T5. 70 on the highway will be hummin. I have a set of 3.73 waiting to go in. Should still be decent off the line & better highway manners.
I am putting a basic 306, Performer (Not RPM) heads until I can buy some AFR 185, With a Performer RPM intake, a 600 Holley single feed, and either a E/B cam, or a TFS 1, with a tremec 3550 behind it. it is a 84. so carbed. And I have a rear end I built with 3.55's already setup. just have been rethinking, since this car is a fun car, not a cruiser. But I'm Not sure.@@TheBigred1781
All depends, for a lot of highway driving they aren't great. All depends on what you can tolerate. For city driving, I would do em all day long
What's humming? My 71 Torino does 3500 at 65, with 3.70's...thats hummin@@TheBigred1781
I have 4.10s with a T5 and 18"wheels @70mph I'm about 2800rpm!!
So how do you get to enter the giveaway stuff
I like that.
How much are batteries?
The Eluminator electric motor is $4,340
I don't think EV is the answer, but it be a cool project car.
That’s funny
Nope it won't be worth it doing it on a 302. You'll still get beaten by the latest Toyota Avalon😂 go bigger 331+ or if you're cheap go LS swap with bigger gains.
Ant tips on how to get an old head to tell tips these jokers round here tight lips😅
no seatbelt, shoulder harness, mmmmmm not a good look
Horrible music. Good video though.
Not worth the money, do a coyote swap.
Either way, it’s a rabbit hole on these cars that are 30 plus years old. Even though parts are clearly available, you will sink more into one than they are worth.
