    Beginning of the year I use pink shine and white almost exclusively, then as bait fish start to show I'll start going with chartreuse, blue fuse, salmon red. This year has been off to a great start

    I fish New Jersey and have many of your top 10 Gulp grubs in my bag. My go to are pink shine and then white for the bucktail and 6 inch glow swimming mullet for my plain hook teaser. Best advice is to watch the other anglers to see what Gulp they're using to catch fluke or ask the mates. Also be interested to know whether you start with Gulp by itself and then enhance it with fluke belly strip or squid/spearing if not getting bites.
    Thank you for the videos. Enjoy watching them.

      Very nice. I actually avoid chartreuse when I can. It attracts every seabass, Porgy, and sea robin that swims. I don't even own any.

    Hi for fishing off the pier. What size bucktail to use? My line keeps drifting away due to current. Do I use heavier bucktail to keep it stable?

    • @atifjavaid7941
      @atifjavaid7941 Před 20 dny +1

      And how do I know when the bucktail reached the bottom. It's hard for me to know since new to fishing.

      @atifjavaid7941 Great question. If you're fishing from a pier, I would suggest a 1 to 3oz bucktail with a 4 or 5 inch grub and 10 to 20lb test braid on a spinning rod. You want to keep your bucktail compact so it has less drag in the water. That should help you hold bottom longer. I also suggest casting up current and working your bucktail back to you quartering with the current. I hope that helps!

      @atifjavaid7941 It comes down to feel, practice, and most importantly, line watching. If you pay close attention to your line, you'll see it stop for a second, then continue going out. Lots of times, your lure is on the bottom, but the current is pulling the bow/slack in your line, making it appear that you haven't hit bottom.

      @@nextdriftfishing thank so much this is very helpful. I can't wait to try it again at the pier and hopefully I catch a fluke this time 🙏
