Best statement of this video, and so true: less IS more. The KISS system - keep it super simple. Thanks for this!!
I don't want to tie that knot when I'm in a drift it would drive me crazy if I was fishing structure for Flounder. Great video. Thank you for the information
Beautiful knot! I will definitely try it the next time I'm out at the Shewsbury Rocks with 5 footers, a stiff south wind and my hands semi slimy with squid-gulp de jour.
I agree that barrel swivels can be annoying. I use a uni to uni just because I know how to tie it fast. However I have a hard time seeing how it eliminates stretch. The difference would
be so minimal
this is a Alberto or a crazy Alberto.... this know is amazing
The curl of a curly tail should curl in the opposite direction of the hook. Hook points up, curl points down. This will prevent any chance of the tail hooking itself on the hook point and theoretically better action because of better water flow under the jig.
Cool graphics Great Info Tks!!
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
That graphic at the end is absolutely hysterical! 😂
Lol I'm glad you liked it! I wasn't sure if anyone would get it. Thank you!
Nice variation of the Alberto knot. I wonder if it is better suited for lighter leader material (20 lb or less) as I've found wrapping heavier mono or flouro around the braid to be difficult.
Looks like a improved Albright knot.
It certainly does, and I'm a big fan of the Albright. The Carrot does have less failure rate and ties almost as fast.
Not all barrel swivels are created equal. If you pay a little extra for Sampo ball bearing swivels or another reputable brand, you get a much better product.
I'd think it's smoother through the guides wrapping the floro around the braid instead of braid around floro like the Alberto...interesting.
100% the case! Great observation
You can tie it either way ?
I’ll try it, being I can’t get an FG knot to hold. But my main reason for liking this is because I often have trouble tying the leader to those tiny Spro swivels. Thanks.
@duffmeister6480 you certainly can but I find that it goes through the guides much easier with the leader wrapped around the braid.
Its like a reverse Alberto knot. Which is what I use. 👍🏼
Yup 👍
I've been using that knot for a couple of years...I didn't know what it was called but I know it works.
I'm glad to hear you've had success with it, Anthony. Once you know how to tie it, it's really easy and fast. It's a great knot. Thanks for watching and commenting.
So how is this different from the modified albright kbit
How long of flurocarbon leader do you like to run when doing the carrot knot?
Great question. It's really up to you. I like aan 8 foot leader. It gives me enough extra to adjust/re-tie if I need to. It also allows you to have more control of the fish at the boat because you don't have to stop reeling at a swivel.
@14:59 Note that he gives Joey the modem and he has the fiber optic cable!! :D
Lol I'm so glad somebody caught that. Kudos to you! Have a great season bud
Crazy aberto knot easier
The Alberto is a fine knot, but it has a tendency to clump. I use it for three way rigs for Tog.
I do not agree with that I been fishing for years and I all ways used swivels my be that work for you what happen when the tide is moving you have a lot of problems 😮😮
agree...seems like overkill but to each his own.
Thank you for the comments. I haven't experienced any issues with the tide but it's certainly something to look into. Thanks again for watching!
