A-my and the sky!!!!
Omg yes
you're a legend!
YES!!
I live in Newfoundland. We’re very proud of everything this show represents and the light it’s shining on our lovely province and it’s people ❤️❤️
YOU SHOULD BE !!!!
people who don’t live in Canada: WHATS A PROVINCE????
@@sandipjawanda9252 it’s like a state in the U.S.
Sylvia Beckwith-Brown I know what it is I live in Canada r/wooooosh
I wish the show could go around the Arts and Cultire so more folks from home could see it!
One of my favorites is Hannah - literally because I break down every time she says: "He's gone. It's over...". And I never cry, but the first time I heard it, I was like NOOOOOOOOOO HANNAAAAAAH
Benjamin Johnsen I’ve seen the show multiple times and every single time it gets to that point I lose it. Legitimately so powerful
Oh!! I feel the same way! Her part is so sad and beautiful at the same time! I've never seen the show but I get really emotional just by listening to the soundtrack .
“He said he was incognito and that he was going to blend in with the natives, but he just looked like a gay lumberjack.”
ugh my parents are Newfies and I freaking LOVE this musical... saw it with my hardcore Newf grandma and she LOVED it we all love it! It's so weird how much pride it instills in a community, I will go back to Newfoundland every Christmas and Summer break and my extended family loves it. We're all going to London in the summer so check out the 18 (yes there's 18 of us) laughing and crying in the back.
oh wow!!!! I loved reading this!!!!
I hope it does well at the Oliviers! It kind of got stomped on by DEH at the Tonys, though it did win best direction of a musical.
I hope so too!!!!
Well, since "Dear Evan Hansen" hasn't premiered in the U.K. yet (but it will this fall!), I think "Come From Away" has a way better chance of winning Best New Musical.
To be fair though, "Dear Evan Hansen" is also amazing. I think both that and "Come From Away" were equally qualified to win the Tony for Best Musical. I think it was kind of like flipping a coin, and it happened to be "Dear Evan Hansen" that won.
Update: IT WON THE OLIVIER FOR BEST NEW MUSICAL!!!! YAY!!!!!
The harmony during "You are here..." makes me cry every single dang time
"Go into people's yards and take their grills"
Later
"Are you stealing my BBQ?"
"This is your BBQ?"
*Invites inside for tea*
this part killed me! i was laughing so hard
“And they helped me to steal their grill as well as their neighbors grills. I stopped worrying about them stealing my wallet after that.”
For health reasons I have never been able to see a live performance of Come From Away but I cannot tell you how many clips from different languages I have watched and enjoyed. I know from watching videos on CZcams that the real life Beverly Bass and her husband Tom have seen the show over a hundred times. I also enjoyed the many different interviews that Captain Bass has given over the years since she retired from American Airlines. Two of my favorite interviews are when her daughter was a young child. DAUGHTER: “Let me see if I got this correct boys play soccer and girls fly airplanes.” BEVERLY: “Yes that’s 100 percent absolutely correct.” The second thing I like was Captain Bass talking about how she had to land at Gander a few more times after September 11th for emergency reasons. One of those times when she was in the air the air traffic controller said “Bev you’re cleared to land” rather than “American 49 you’re cleared to land” which is the correct term to use.
You're so wholesome and I love it. Also Come From Away made me weep like a small child and laugh like a maniac.
aww I love you xx
I think you mean ‘Lovatt’ not ‘love it’
I saw it last night. It was so good. I cant believe that they were able to make a show with just 12 cast members.
OMG Amy thank you for the heart
Jenn Colella singing Me and the Sky is my new religion. It makes me cry every time and she is so emotive and takes you on such a beautiful journey and at the end when she gets to THAT PART its like a punch to the gut in the absolute best way!
I just listened to "Come from Away" not half an hour ago, and I AM ALREADY OBSESSED!!!!
Favorite song: "Me and the Sky"!
I've seen it and my family comes from Newfoundland so I had already heard the story. Even have family who lived there at the time some of my family ended up in some documentaries. Going with the family was awkward they had Newfoundland flags with them. Did not ruin the show and I grew up with irish Canadian mix music so it was nostalgia for me. I loved that the actors talked exactly like how people talk there. The emmosional component so perfect love the direction and I also loved the small group that has this deep connection I agree with all your thoughts. Most my family sing and at family reunions it is like the musical itself I know at the last one they sang welcone to the rock. So the musical is like amazing in so many ways in a deep way and it's cool for others to have these amazing story.
I found this musical today, heard the first song. Cried. Ran to my friend's house and we sat in her kitchen in almost complete silence crying and listening to the whole thing for the first time. It's a phenomenal show
I feel so validated in CFA being one of my favorite musicals
Come From Away is pretty much my favourite musical to listen to because I get goosebumps and cry at least once every time 😂✌️
I’ve never related more than when you said “low-key stalk everyone who’s in it”
YESS - I got a £10 ticket for CFA in west end to stand up for the entire 1h 40m. BEST LEG ACHE EVER.
the second time I saw it in London I did the same, and it goes quite quickly I think - totally worth it!
COME FROM AWAY WAS AMAZING! I cried sm but it was amazing 👌🏻😍
I’ve always said Kinky Boots would be the best thing I ever saw, I saw this two weeks ago and since then have been twice. There is nothing like it, I left the theatre feeling so uplifted and was so touched by it. The cast are phenomenal and I really think this is one of the most important pieces of theatre in the West End for a long long time!
I’m happy there’s a musical about Canadian history!!
THANK YOU FOR GIVING THIS GOD-LIKE SHOW THE RECOGNITION IT DESERVES!
Love this video! Come From Away is pure magic - and I've only seen the bootleg and listened to the cast album! It must be absolutely phenomenal live. And seriously, I'd willingly give several organs to be in the show...
My favourite/most tear-jerking moments would have to be:
- When the bus driver (can't remember his name) bonds with the African couple by pointing out the verse in their Bible which says "be anxious for nothing". I am NOT a religious person - but that really gets me, for some reason.
- The prayer scene. Always hits me right in the gut.
- The Muslim man's story arc - especially what he's put through towards the end. And it makes me happy cry when he asks Beulah for her fish and cheese recipe!
- The pure, unadulterated joy of Screech In. Again, gets the happy tears flowing.
- Me and the Sky. Such a powerful, confident anthem of female achievement in a male dominated profession. And the line near the end where Beverley says the thing she loves most was "used as the bomb" on 9/11...instant tears.
- Something's Missing. Enough said. Especially Hannah's phone call to Beulah.
- The Finale - especially when the band join the company on stage. And Claude's line: "We honour what was lost, but we commemorate what we found." So many tears.
So, so gorgeous. Hopefully one day, I'll get to see it on stage for real...
Pretty proud to be a Newfoundlander while watching videos like this.
I JUST listened to this musical a few days, and hasn't stopped listening. I so want to see it now, it's beautiful
I ADORE Come From Away. It is hands down my favourite musical. I saw it in New York last summer and I’m seeing it in Toronto next week and I’m SO EXCITED.
I watched it live yesterday and I must say it’s incredible the best show i’ve seen by far
I’ve actually met the real Nick and Dianne and Beverly Bass and my god, it was a moment. It was my second time seeing the show and it was a fundraiser for guide dogs Victoria (Australia) because the Labrador is native to Newfoundland and it’s part of the musical’s fundamental ethos that the show and the company do good deeds wherever it’s playing and because of that, the link was made and GDV got ticket profits for one nights sales and it was enough to find half of the breeding, training and upkeep of a guide dog for its entire life. I’ve never had a more profound and electric and fun time being an ambassador then i did that day.
My guide dog Nancy did almost manage to break up nick and Dianne’s marriage though! Lol. Nick really would have very happily dognapped her from me!!!
I saw it on Broadway knowing very little about it, bawled my eyes out and ever since I've told anyone who will listen that it's the best show I've ever seen. It's not my favourite necessarily, but it's the best. I think Welcome to the Rock is the best show opening number of any show. And I think Me and the Sky is an incredible song that hits you right in the feels. I'm so excited for the new London cast. Bob is the cutest character and Tarrin Calander is adorable too so I'm totally here for that.
(I'm sorry for all the comment spam tonight by the way, just found your channel thanks to Georgie Ashford and I'm binge watching all your vids!)
fuCCCCKING REPRESENT!!!!!! COME FROM AWAY IS T H E BEST MUSICAL I JUST GOTTA _AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA_
This wonderful musical brings me to tears!
I JUST SAW IT ON BROADWAY AND IT WAS SO GOOD 😭😭 ITS TOO UNDERRATED
Im waiting for the australian production to start because its like the closest place where i could see Come From Away. Just one NINE HOUR flight to either sydney or perth. So excited to see it!
This year it will come to Perth Adelaide and New Zealand
This is my second favorite musical. First for me will always be Into The Woods, but this musical has my heart like no other.
Never seen CFA. But yay! Someone else whose favorite show ever is Into the Woods?! I love it. I love musicals so much, and listen to soundtracks a lot, but I constantly listen to and go see ITW.
For anyone in New York who really wants to go, you can pick up day-of standing room tickets for $32 from the box office! And the standing room is super comfortable, you actually get to lean on a really soft railing, plus it's actually a great view from the orchestra!
9:30 "i love a strong woman". happy coming out amy!!
I couldn't agree more. It's absolutely incredible. An emotional roller coaster!
Thank you for making this video! I am so glad that the show is really picking up in popularity. It is so touching and I love it SO much! I'm going back for the fourth time in 2 weeks, and I'll be going back again in July. I cannot get enough of it!
As a proud Canadian and a huge CFA fan I must take exception that you said Newfoundland was off the coast of Canada instead of a Province of Canada. Newfoundland is part of this wonderful country and they do throw the absolute best kitchen parties! Loved your review!
I've got a ticket to see CFA in August, so thought I'd listen to the soundtrack got to the forth song and wanted to burst into tears I've no idea how I'll cope actually seeing the show.
YEEEESSSSSSSS Come From Away! I saw it last spring in Toronto and it was amazing. The show ended and the entire audience immediately jumped to their feet to give it a (well deserved) standing ovation. It was really nice to see a show so rooted in Canadian culture do so well, which I’m sure goes triple for all the Newfoundlanders out there. I loved the references to Timmies and Shoppers in particular. The Toronto production was only supposed to run for a few months, but it just kept getting extended. It’s still running now. Fingers crossed I get the chance to see it again before it closes!
When I saw Come From Away in Toronto, they sold drinks before the show and they had Screech available to try. Its sooooooo good!!!
Rachel Tucker is an absolute queen! X
Completely agree with everything. I am also not a huge crier in musicals but this show, somehow, just touched me in a way that no other show in my 23 years of watching musicals has ever done before. I even cry just listening to the CD and that has never happened before, ever. XD I saw it in London twice about a year apart and both times I started actually sobbing like halfway through the first number and basically did not stop until the show was over. I think it's because at its core it is a story about human kindness, and that sort of thing just emotionally gets me so much more than a character death or something, for some reason XD
I hope the West End will be able to come back soon because I miss this show and want to come over to see it again. (Once Britain figures out how I even can get in in the future but that's a different topic XD )
I completely agree with you, Amy. I've seen it twice and will be seeing it another two times early next year.
I first saw it in Toronto. I can't tell you how amazing it was to see it in an audience filled with Canadians. They were so (rightfully) proud of the story. It was such a wonderful experience.
In August last year I saw it again in Melbourne. I was lucky enough to sit next to a lady who knew the sister of one of the characters. All we did in the lead up to the show starting and in the interval was talk about our experiences with the show. It has this most remarkable way of bringing people together.
I've booked to see it again next year on my birthday here in Brisbane. Another friend wants to see it (for the second time) so we'll probably book to see it on another day too. Besides Les Mis (my all time favourite), it'll be the most times I've seen a show live.
As someone who doesn't normally cry when it comes to entertainment, I can honestly say both times I saw 'Come From Away' I was balling. If a show can successfully make me cry, you know it's a brilliant show. And it's done it TWICE! So happy it's finally getting the recognition it truly deserves :)
I really really want to go see come from away. I'm literally obsessed with the show.
I’m so in love with this musical!! I remember that one time where I’m obsessed with this musical. I love the story, characters, choreo and everything about this show
just saw Come From Away tonight with family on your recommendation. Everyone thought it was amazing. Thank you for letting me know about this great show, bc without your videos on it I don't think I would have watched "a musical about 9/11".
Omg I love Come From Away so much! It’s so amazing and so moving! Every single person should see it!
And I love the comedy in the live show that you don't get on the cast recording. Annette is so minor in the cast recording, but she has some of the funnies lines/scenes in the show. (The cardiologists scene is HILARIOUS)
oh my god so true!!
YAS! I saw it a few weeks ago in London and I still remember that feeling that I got when the whole audience stood up and gave the loudest en most deserved aplause I had ever heard
Ok. So.
I love Come From Away.
Best musical I have ever seen. I love it. It is amazing. And it's me and my sister's favourite musical. And we love it.
It is just so beautiful. The music is so good and has such a good beat. It mixes styles and works so well.
The story is beautiful and moving. And true. And that's why I love it.
The show flows so well and just links so well. No interval makes it so good and you are engaged from the first drum beats.
The comedy. Oh my God. Bob and the barbecues!!!! And the Mayor of Appleton. And the Gayest Town and The Kevins. Rachel Tucker is so funny as Annette.
I love how the band gets their moments and, as a musician, this made me so, so happy.
And the company aren't all skinny, perfect dancers who are straight, white people. They are all beautiful and they are so frickin diverse. And there is a gay couple. And there are charactors of different religions which is so beautiful. And actors are all of a different race. They are people like me. They look like me. I love it.
And the women are strong and are so fantastic and sassy and take the lead.
And the cast get about a 5-min break in the whole show. They also chane charactors on stage. How?!
I also stagedoored in London. The cast are so, so, so lovely and kind and funny and amazing.
I can't comprehend how perfect this show is.
Go and see it.
You will be obsessed.
It is worth every second and every penny.
you literally just explained everything so much better than me haha!
A friend of mine workshopped the show when it was done at the theatre school we attended (Sheridan College) and I saw the original Broadway company when they were doing previews in Toronto before they moved to Broadway. When I tell you I bawled my eyes out especially at all the prayers coming together, and I'm not religious but it was gorgeous. Just being Canadian and seeing something so Canadian succeeding and resonating with people is just so incredible.
I saw CFA in June after counting down to Come From Away day for 7 months. I listened to the OBC almost every day during that time. Plus watching whatever videos I could find. I started tearing up when I saw the set. I started CRYING when the drums started. Not even one line in and I was bawling. This show is in my soul.
Thank you for making this video! It encouraged me to listen to the soundtrack and I don't regret it!
CFA is my absolute favorite show! I agree with everything you’ve said. I recommend everyone see it if you can. I went just knowing it was about 9/11 and that was it. I saw it because the show I was planning to see didn’t have any standing room left. I am so glad that happened. CFA is really the best musical in the entire world. Bev was actually there the day I went!
I have this soundtrack on repeat everyday I love this musical so so much!
This musical is literally my favourite musical 🌎🌍🌏💛💙💛💙
This entire vlog is me whenever anyone mentions this show 😂❤ favourite show ever.
I couldn’t stop myself joining in with the Ha’s!!! 😂😂
I love the cast album for CFA and I want to see it so badlyyy it’s so underrated! My favorite song in it is Prayer... it makes me cry tho. I also love Me And The Sky.
I never heard people talk about Prayer 😍 It's my all time fav
I’ve seen this beautiful show three times: Broadway, tour, and London. All 3 times I balled and it is such an incredible show
I watched this then straight away listened to it thank youuu x
oh I hope you loved it!
I diddd
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SHOW AS WELL
I went to London for a week and I saw it twice, both times were so worth it ! Eveything you said is true. And I agree, even though I really wanted to applause at the end of "Me and the sky", the fact that we have to wait till the end of the show makes the standing ovation even better !💙💛
I went to the stagedoor and talked a little with the actors and you can tell that they are having so much fun on stage and that they love telling this story everyday ! Also I'm super jealous because you saw Jenn Colella and I love her so much, but Rachel Tucker is an absolute queen too 😍
And the line with the barbecues is just hilarious 😂
I’m seeing this in Australia In a couple months! Can’t wait 😁
After I saw the show, I told my mom, "Our whole family needs to see this!" I love the show so much and THEY ARE COMING BACK TO CHICAGO!!!
I love this show so much. Saw it about a year go and it’s one of my favorites, Great video Amy.
i just saw the show today in sydney: completely agree with you, genuinely the best show ever. no arguments.
A few months ago, I watched this video and got curious. I checked it out.. A few months later, I AM NOW OBSESSED. THIS IS YOUR FAULT AMYYYY 😭😭❤️
Am I the only one who is watching this and is happy because Come From Away is probably my favourite musical
Thinking about what to comment when all I wanna do is scream YEEESSSS at everything you said.
I like to think that it's the best thing to happen to musical theatre since the invention of musical theatre. It's perfection, there is absolutely nothing negative anyone could ever say.
I am from Gander and EVERYONE is welcome ANYTIME. Its true the kettle is always on!
Hi, I've just seen the U.S. tour version and can 100% agree this is the absolute greatest musical out there. So so so brilliant, I'm still speechless. Love what you said about the show 👍
I’m seeing Come From Away on tour February 22 and I’m so excited, it’s a show that I really want to see
I agree with absolutely everything you've said - JUST GO SEE IT
I AGREE IT WAS AMAZING I SAW IT YESTERDAY North American tour. They were incredible. And I want to see it a hundred more times. The chords and the music was beautiful. I got to meet the writer and the family who housed him, and he was so nice! He even signed my playbill!
oh wow! so jealous you got to meet him - that must have been so cool!
I’m seeing this show in Toronto on my honeymoon next month and I absolutely cannot wait! This has made me even more excited, thank you Amy! I love your genuine excitement for musicals 😭😄
aww thank you Ceri!!! Hope you enjoy the show!!
The reason i will watch it is actually your reaction to the show in the new York vlog after that i knew i had to see It.
I'm going on a tour trip of the UK with my theatre group from Australia where we're doing workshops, doing theatre tours, ect. and we get to see 2 West End shows (as a group - we have one evening where we have an opportunity to see a show on our own) and one of the options is Come From Away. I haven't heard all of the cast recording yet, but my musical theatre class did Welcome To The Rock and the end of Somewhere In The Middle Of Nowhere for our end of year showcase last year (and we're doing it again for another showcase next month!) and I'm really hoping we get to see this show, it seems so good!!!
So happy you enjoyed it!! It’s my fav I’ve seen it twice over here on broadway and I’m so happy it’s getting the recognition it deserves overseas :’)
From 0.02 seconds I was OBSESSED with this video. Literally describes my feelings for CFA to a tee. You are just fab girl. New sub x
Yes yes yes yes. So happy it won best new musical at the Oliviers!
I know this is late, but this video convinced me to listen to the soundtrack and now I might go see it on their national tour for my birthday
oh yay! that's so good to hear!
Amy Lovatt it’s official, we bought tickets!!
One of my favourite musicals! Loved the video x
Were u talking about when the people helped him steal their own barbecues 😂😂
yes!!!!
Amy Lovatt omg it was hilarious 😂
Honestly this line made me laugh so so much 😂😂
I'm lucky enough that I got to see this on a SCHOOL TRIP!!!! P.S we need hats that say STFD!
Come from Away was unreal!! Me and my mam went to see it on my birthday. It was her first time seeing a show and she loved it!
I have tried listening to come from away so many times, but I always start crying to much like, 3 songs in. I dont know why but the music just gets me so emotional
If you haven’t seen it already look up bob’s song, cut from away. It’s about the New-Yorker with the barbecues and was cut from the show
I got chills watching it because it's such an amazing show! I saw it in NYC last year & think I'm going to take a trip to London to see it there too
Saw it with OBC in NYC and then again in San Francisco and I adore this show! Great video, AMY...you're adorable!!!
oh wow! im super jealous!!!!awww thanks!!!! xx
Thank you for shopping at walmart, would you like to come back to my house for a shower?
legit one of my favourite lines in the show!
AHHHHH I LOVE COME FROM AWAY
OMG OMG OMG!!!! I SAW COME FROM AWAY AND I ACTUALLY CRIED!!! I THOUGHT IT WAS SO INSPIRATIONAL, MOVING, AMAZING, HAPPY, AND EXCITED! MY FAVORITE SONG IS "SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE" AND I SING IT LITERALLY EVERY DAY! I WOULD DIE TO SEE IT AGAIN!
I saw this in London and I'm seeing it again when the tour comes through my town in May... I've got my tickets to see it 3x.. :)
I get to see the US National Tour in just over a week and I'm DYING from the wait
Have you ever seen Six? I’m seeing it next month and it’s supposed to be really good.
she saw it recently! it was on her instaq story! :DD
Ah okay... I’m not on Instagram very much. Have you seen it?
oh my god I saw it last week!!! and im! obsessed!!!
Yes! Went to see it in London yesterday and it is honestly the best show I’ve ever seen
