  • The Balancing Act goes behind the scenes with Come From Away, the remarkable true story of a small town in Canada that welcomed the world.
Inspired by real-life events, Come From Away tells the story of 7,000 stranded airline passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them in the days following September 11, 2001.
Learn how creators Irene Sankoff and David Hein and producer Sue Frost compiled 16,000 stories from this five-day period and ended up with an uplifting 100-minute musical featuring 12 captivating actors. Meet American Airlines Captain Beverley Bass, whose flight was grounded in Newfoundland, and Becky Gulsvig, who portrays Bass’ character on tour.
Experience an up-close look at the people who continue to share the story of a tragedy that changed the world and how one small town came together and created community - instilling hope in all who bear witness to it.

This is my favorite musical and it will be playing very close to my town on my birthday this year. I'm so excited to have the opportunity to see it and to bring my family with me.

Been listening to the cast recording since it was first released. Now, I am anxiously awaiting the opportunity to see it this upcoming season in Dallas.

Saw it this last week and it was phenomenal! It was a different kind of story and experience from other musicals I've seen

A few days ago, my wife and I saw the Broadway version on AppleTV. We went through at least a box of Kleenex while watching it, such was the overwhelming pride and joy it elicited. Even now, just trying to write this, as the video plays and hearing snippets of it in the background, is making me tear up.
As a Canadian, I've had both the pleasure of working with several Newfoundlanders over my career and visiting the province for an internal airline dart tournament. I can firmly attest that the good natured humour, generosity and bottomless hospitality that are depicted in this play are not in the least a hyperbolic depiction of our easternmost cousins. The people on The Rock, do indeed ROCK!, in every superlative connotation of that word.
Thank you to the writers, the performers and most importantly, the wonderful people who stepped up in a moment of need. In my 66 years, I've never been prouder of being a Canadian and sharing even such a tenuous connection to the amazing people of Gander, its neighbouring environs and the rest of the islanders.
My wife's grandparents, on her mother's side, came from there and we had plans to visit, that C-19 put on hold. I'm so looking forward to eventually getting there and visiting the Gander Legion to buy a few beers for anyone even remotely connected to that day, assuming they'll even let me, lol.

Mom and I went and saw this last night and it was absolutely incredible. I was already familiar with the music through the cast album, but seeing it live onstage was like nothing else. It's a wonderful show that everybody needs to see. Bravo!

I LOVE this show! Such a wonderful , heartfelt and uplifting show. But one thing I couldn't help but think was how America screwed that up. The world stood behind America on September 11th. Then come the extraordinary renditions, torture, illegal invasions , drone strikes and forever war.
All those feeling came up when they talked about the moment of silence in the gas station and then when the Egyptian was searched.

    Newfin-LAND.
I’ve seen this twice and I’m seeing it again in November. I listen to the soundtrack a couple of times a week. I’ve seen the Apple video so…many…times.

Newfoundland but we pronounce it as "Newfin land", not "New Finlind".
