Easter is named for the Saxon pagan fertility goddess Oestre. Eggs are fertility symbols, and rabbits are fertility symbols. Even today, celebrating Spring equinox with songs and celebrations and meditations on fertility with eggs as a focus or talisman is a good way to get a coven pregnant. Because, also sex.

Easter was originally a celebration of Ishtar, the fertility goddess. Eggs and rabbits are both symbolic of breeding - somehow that got almagameted into rabbits laying painted eggs cause.. jesus or something.. 🤷🏻♂️

Answer to your question: The reason why bunnies and eggs are both used to represent easter is because eggs are a sign of fertility, and so are bunnies as they reproduce rapidly. This stems from Pagan religions as they view these things as synonymous with birth and life.

So, this is all from my memory so facts will be sketch at best. If I recall easter is appropriated from Pagan roots and was a festival for a god in celebration of spring and renewal and the god was related to fertility and new beginnings and new life so it was related to Eggs because of young, fertile, new beginnings, and bunnies, because sex and bunnies well fucking like rabbits.

fun fact about rabbits and WHY they represent fertility, they can get pregnant while being pregnant! which is why they reproduce....like rabbits!
