If you listen to the full version, the meaning of the song has a slightly darker tone. Almost a mix of a love story and a suicide note. By reacting to the radio version of this song, and not the full length, you guys are missing out on an even better song. "We were needle and spoon" and "More sugar trails, More white lady laid" were drug references comparing their relationship to a drug addiction, something not healthy. In the full version there is a line about two tracks as well.
Exactly...the sado-masochistic obsessional sexual addiction to one another...hence the the combination of Nympho (a woman with very strong sexual desires...a satyr is the male version) and Methamphetamine (a chemical amphetamine that is highly addictive and causes most folks to stay up for days doing obsessive bullshit!)

Yep this version is the short version. The full length vertion is around 10 minutes and has a much heavier beginning to the song.
Blaidd ive never knew that this wasn't the full version. I've been hearing the fix version my whole life.
It's because of the official music video. People only think that Fix is the correct version. Love the video but also just Nymphetamine tells the story leading up to it.

You guys did Cannibal Corpse yesterday and as many alluded to they're like a musical slasher movie. Well, along those lines Cradle of Filth has always been like a horror movie played out in music to me as well but their songs -- especially on more recent albums -- run like Edgar Allen Poe poems with their macabre and gloomy takes on love and death instead of the straight up gore of a lot of death metal. As I get older the more thought out visions of darkness are often more appealing than the straight-up, pound the shit out of you shock horror of traditional death metal. Musically I still love them both but the emotional pull of a lot of Dani's lyrics has a lot of appeal for the thinking metal head.
It's been a long time since I bought my first album from these guys. I loved the music and the vocals were hard to get use to back then but wasn't really expecting the vocals for this song to be like they were. It got a thumbs up from me.

AlmightyNorppa I never got as hooked on Leave’s Eyes as I did on Theater of Tragedy. But I agree, Liv’s voice is awesome. If you haven’t heard Theater of Tragedy give it a go. Velvet Darkness they Fear is the classic. However Liv’s vocals are just awesome on Aégis. After that record they turned into an electric pop band...

You chose the short version. I feel like you guys interpreted it wrong. Nymphetamine is a play on a nymph (a very sexually active woman) and a drug (she is a drug to him). He is trying to break free from her but also doesn't want to because he is addicted to her.

This was the very first CoF song I’d ever heard, and as fate would have it, I found this music video after I watched the Phantom of the Opera starring Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum for the 50th time! That movie I feel like inspired this music video, the relationship between Eric and Christine is how I think this relationship works. I don’t think it’s telling a story of two people in love so much as it’s the fantasy aspect of this woman being the embodiment of his hope and salvation, a relief from his self inflicted torment and damnation. I would imagine that during his final moments of overdose he is deluded as sees her appear to him asking him to come back to her.

Even if you guys don't do a separate video on it, I'd HIGHLY recommend going back and listening to the "Overdose" version of this song - "Fix" is the shortened version at the end of the album that's only the middle portion of the full song.
ALSO - You mentioned this making sense as a follow-up to Her Ghost in the Fog. There is an actual sequel to Her Ghost in the Fog on this album called "Swansong for a Raven" that I'd love to see you guys react to and discuss. It follows the story where Her Ghost left off and goes through everything that happens after he takes his revenge and burns them all in the chapel.

In the Overdose version, Dani actually sings the lyrics "She burnt me like a furnace for my future suicide" which leads into the Fix version you've listened to here. Based on the lyrics from the Overdose version, it could be interpreted that he used a razor to commit suicide.

I think the song is more about your love to drugs! When you think of the lyricks itself nymphetamine, nymph and amphetamine. The love to drugs. Or an ode to drugs if you will. The drug amphetamine is the nypmh that is holding him in that barless prison of his mind. You can not escape, and you dont want because it so addictive. It give the feeling of ecstasy. It is love/hate relationship. Love to hate, hate to love. That what I think the song is about! Prove me wrong?
grigeroz personally I think the song is about unhealthy sexual addiction - and the female character in the song was abusive in that she used her sexual charm to get what she wanted and then left him.

Can I throw a curve ball. I think the "she" in the song isn't a literal woman. I think it's drugs. The Barless prison is addiction. And the the drug use killed him "six feet deep is the incision" and perhaps the love aspect is his love for the drug.
I'm not 100% but I'd be interested to know what you think of my interpretation. That's as far as my interpretation goes. It falls apart on other parts of the song. But needle and spoon seems quite on the nose

I think it is a bit of both. The song (as I interpret it) is about an addict that vows on the grave of his woman to give up drugs after she has used a razor to kill herself even though he is surrounded by many temptations.

I grew up with classic Maiden and love classic Maiden but those songs do not come close to the lyrical depth or musicianship Maiden has had since Bruce returned in 2000. Maiden took their music to a whole new level. Vin and Sori almost always like epic songs over 4 minute singles. Paschendale = epic.

it can also be about drug addiction, it was written in a way that can be perceived as a toxic relationship or drug addiction, "sick and weak from my condition, this lust this vampiric addiction" the title is a combination of nymphomaniac and amphetamine, also " a prayer for your loneliness" gives the drug addiction aspect of the song away.

It's about a couple who used drugs and sex as their commonalities. She left him after he couldn't leave the drugs. He became so depressed and committed suicide. She was his drug as well but the drugs couldn't allow him to love her without them. She became sober and felt saddened he couldn't move past the drugs.

I would like to you guys, to react to Cradle of Filth - The Death of The Love.
It's a song about the relationship between Joanne D' Arc and Gilles de Rais, how Gilles loved her platonically, how he couldn't save her from burning and all the sadness and anger towards God that he felt before Joannne was burned alive. Later, he turned form a catholic and devoted knight to a blasphemer, serial killer and pedophile, in order to offend God, in vengeance because He couldn't save Joanne D'Arc.
It's really an emotional song, and you can feel the anger and the sadness of Gilles on the music, and has some kind of dialogue between Gilles and Joanne in the interaction of the lyrics.
I would love to see your point of view on that song. Cheers.

The female singer in this was a guest musician. She was actually the same singer from Theatre of Tragedy, which you guys reacted to And When He Falleth. She has a great voice, but it doesn't have a large range.
Once again, I suggest the Cradle of Filth song Bathory Aria. If you are thinking the song may be about Elizabeth Bathory, the blood countess, you would be correct. But if you want to see some impressive Dani Filth writing, this song is pure poetry.
