      @@jeffbreazeal6293 This car epitomizes the saying Aristotle made famous: "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts". This car isn't the fastest, loudest, quickest, whatever adjective for "really fast" that you want to use. But the way the car is put together and how it makes you feel when you drive it is special. The NA V8 is still plenty fast - but also soooo silky smooth on acceleration from any speed. The styling (to me) is sublime with how its lines, creases and angles are assembled. The car oozes premium quality in almost every detail. It's built different than any German performance car I've driven or been in and I've been in them all at one time or another. It just has a way of delivering super high quality in a really distinctive way. Everything feels precision built for maximum longevity. I can beat the crap out of this car & it'll feel like it did on Day 1 every time. At $65K it was a steal to me.

    According to Lexus, it is an m340i competitors and not the M3/M4 competitor because the suspension, chassis, tires, wheels, brakes etc. are all not tuned for that. That is why it is cheaper than the RCF. The RCF has much stiffer suspension/chassis, big brake kit, wheels, tires, cooling systems and sport seats etc. all meant to push the car on the track. IS500 F-Sport is tuned way too soft for the track. That is why RCF costs significantly more

Also have a 2021 IS 350 F Sport (bit of a Lexus fanboi after many problematic German cars and a Yamaha fanboi from my motorcycling days) which is an absolute blast to drive, but just needs a little more oomph. Honestly, 40-50hp/80-100TQ and the Lexus 10-speed Direct Shift, and the IS 350 would be all we need. Will keep the 350 when the 500 gets here because it is that good, and will be great for my daughter in 6 years when she can drive. BTW the Dynamic Handling Package in the IS 350 F Sport also has the Yamaha-sourced Adaptive Damper. FYI Yamaha also developed the 5.0 V8 and V10 for the LF-Afor Toyota. Liked and Subscribed.

      Don’t hold your breath on an N/A V8 from Lexus making 600hp cause you’ll die of suffocation. If there is an F version of the IS, it will either use a slightly more power version of the current V8 the 500 has, a tuned version of the TT V6, or a TT V8 that Lexus has yet to release, but is in the works.

How do you offer a $60k Lexus without leather interior, a sluggish transmission, an old infotainment system and a CD player? A lot of missed opportunities here for Lexus to have really made a great car, unfortunately.

    Just stumbled upon this review - fantastic overview and great technical breakdown of its performance bits! Originally ordered a 2022 BMW M3 Comp xDrive in June but still waiting for delivery 9 months later 🙄 The Lexus IS500 intrigued me since it was announced and I started actively looking for one in Jan 2022. Most Canadian dealerships started getting theirs (already spoken for) with one selling for an $8K markup, claiming it was a bargain. Somehow, the car gods felt pity on me because shortly thereafter I found a Launch Edition at a dealership for MSRP. It's been a month now and I'm daily driving it with winter tires! What to do with the incoming BMW though...

      @@nefarious_saint I like the car, but have had to adjust my expectations. I had 2 previous Lexus IS models so I'm accustomed to the brand. But many first time Lexus buyers were unhappy with this car and sold it. It's NOT a performance machine, but a comfortable GT cruiser that celebrates the last NA V8. The handling is soft and it eats up brakes. So I can't recommend this car to most performance enthusiasts unless you have something else for that purpose

    • @MotoManTV
      @MotoManTV  Před 3 lety +2

      Not hard to determine . . . history tells how the values will break down. It's always the convertible, followed by the 2 door, followed by the crazy powerful 4 door. Only exception are super rare and odd ball limited runs. They sit above the convertibles. Look at the values of any series of muscle cars from the 60s and that logic will apply to these.

  • @iceberg4736
    @iceberg4736 Před 3 lety

    IS-F GT with a 600hp n/a V8 would be more rarer than an affordable LFA, but if they're still committed to it before electrification, make it at least competitive (unlike the RC-F, which if a refresh is due should look like the IS with two doors instead of four) with BMW or Cadillac's V division. And I'm still wishin the LC F becomes a real performance flagship someday.

  • @BeanieNinjay0
    @BeanieNinjay0 Před 3 lety +1

    The IS500 isn’t really providing that value I was looking for, but I could see it being worth as much as it’s priced if you’re drawn to the novelty of an n/a V8 being stuffed in a smaller sports sedan. Everything else seems “meh,” honestly, and I was disappointed to hear that this basically drives like any other IS in the line up, but with just more power. The other hurdle I imagine will come up is once these hit the lots, the dealers are going to want to tack on an additional 10-15k, maybe even 20k, if you want to snatch one directly off their lot.
