Many people just assume that since they are "wild," that they will be just happy living outside. Well, for some maybe, but if they don't want to live outside, sending them back out would be suicidal, and I'm so glad she tried but decided to keep him inside. God bless your kind heart!

Not that he would remember, but if his mother was hit by a vehicle or killed by a prey animal, maybe his early life alone was traumatized.
I heartily agree. Each precious little critter is an individual with their own unique needs. So important to be sensitive to these needs. *Oh, this is SO WONDERFUL❣️ My Mom and my siblings were able to rehab an abandoned male baby squirrel DECADES AGO and I have never forgotten the joy "Chipper" gave to our family❣️He was named Chipper because of the "chip, chip, chip" sound he constantly made. We were eventually able to release him into our yard of 14 mighty oak trees 🌳 and we occasionally hand-fed him peanuts 🥜 as he constantly visited us for 2 years after his release‼️ He actually mated and brought his spouse AND HIS 3 BABIES (2 males and 1 female) TO MEET US ONE TIME WHEN WE WERE GIVING HIM PEANUTS❣️🥜🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿 He took the peanuts and brought them to his "wife" until her cheeks were full, then filled his cheeks, and then the 5 of them scampered back up the oak tree to their nest. I was 11 years old when we rescued him; 12 years old when we released him and I am almost 70 now, and it's one of my lifetime's FAVORITE MEMORIES❣️😁🥰 I can just imagine how delightful it has been for you having Rocky in your home for 10 years❣️❣️❣️😁🤣🤣🤣 You are a GOOD WOMAN‼️🐿*

I'd love to have a Squirrels like Rocky. But I don't think our cats would go for it.
I’m 70, and for years I’ve always been told that squirrels only lived 5-7 years. So this was amazing to hear that pet squirrels live passed that.
I feed roughly 15 to 20 squirrels every morning. I have one guy who comes booking across my neighbors’ yards, down the street to be the first to get his peanut. This guy is roughly 8 to 10 years old and if I left my front door open, I’m afraid he come inside. He’s very friendly, cute and has quite an amazing personality! In fact, most of them are pretty cool animals who enjoy human interaction. I’m highly jealous of this woman but at the same time don’t have the time nor energy to keep up with an indoor squirrel!! My hat off to you my dear !
Does he book through Airbnb? I have a squirrel that visits often and comes inside sometimes. He's possessive of his nuts too, and growls sometimes. I can scratch him on the head.

Squirrels are very social and must be nurtured as babies. Rocky has picked y’all as his family. It looks like he’s having a great time!! So sweet!
Are they potty trainable?
@@peterdebrie I find that you can teach them use a little litter box and they will use it most of the time, especially to pee. They do not mess in their nests. I only rehab for release when I find a baby in need.

There is at least one vid of a baby squirrel put with a mama cat and kittens. Nursing and purring like it was one if the other kittens.

I have four squirrels in my garden here in the South of England. They chase each other around all day, run along the tops of fences, up and down trees. Hugely energetic, agile, and very cute. 🥰

And, how loving and kind she was for not just opening the front door and releasing him when he was old enough, without first making sure he'd be all right. Amazing little squirrel. You were exactly what he needed that day at work. I love that you help so many squirrels. All animals need help from time to time to live. I rescue and rehab cats. It was joyful to see Rocky run around the house and play like my cats do. 💕

The outdoor squirrel that I had in the area many years back now. She lived to be about 10-12. Then one day she just stopped coming out when I would go to put out food for her. Been sad since, she was such a sweet squirrel.

Peanuts aren't good for squirrels, because they're actually legumes and not nuts, but real nuts are good for squirrels (e.g., almonds), as are pumpkin seeds and acorns.
They are another one of the amazing beings filled with unconditional love. They have sadness & joy just as we do. And like all living creatures of earth.. all but one, they innocent of malice or evil.

I am madly in love with this cutie pie!!! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I can never see or find enough people who truly love animals and would go to great lengths to help them not just survive but strive. I would’ve done nothing different. The only part about our dear furry companions that I don’t like? When we must part with them. That is always very painful. But all the love you get from them, that absolute, unconditional love that most humans cannot give outside of their children, will never be wasted or go away. I wish him, and you an extremely long and happy life. 💜😸

That's what I always thought.
For domestic squirrels, it is not recommended for more than a treat. This is due to the squirrels needing a specific diet of calcium to phosphorus balance diet to prevent MBD, metabolic bone disease. Too many nuts can interrupt that balance and cause bone issues.
