Just saw this show this afternoon, it was so good. It had me smiling, laughing and crying throughout the show. Such a great cast! The emcee was wonderful, Alan Cumming was always my favorite for this role and I can say Randy is just as great as Alan. The ending of the show left me speechless!!!!
i REALLY REALLY REALLY wish they had this version for sale on DVD! i want to be able to watch it over and over again. I have not seen a version this good :( its sad that they dont sell these performances on DVD by the time the show is done touring. Cause its like a once in a lifetime thing youll never be able to see again. :(

+Cate Ginsberg yeah but people who "live in the moment" eventually die and their memories are gone forever. Sure, there are photographs, written documents, and cast albums. But they can't give a true account of a live event the same way a video recording can. The argument that theatre shouldn't be recorded is incredibly archaic and in my opinion detrimental. Even Bob Fosse, who was against taping theatre, eventually changed his mind when his associates started passing away. He wanted to have an account of their performances. So that's how we now have the video recording of Pippin! :)
+Ari Srabstein I agree with you that shows need to be recorded for the future so that people can get an accurate representation of what the show was. But touring companies rarely are recorded, sadly. If it was up to me I would record every Broadway show and every touring production, but because we can't, living in the moment and enjoying the production is the next best thing. It's been like this since Broadway had started. I understand wanted to record for archival reasons or for people who cannot see the show in person, but I believe that if you can get to the show you should enjoy it while it's happening.

Saw this tonight and omg this cast is bomb. The old fruit man is also so incredibly sweet? Like even irl he's amazing! Ok, during the pineapple song the floating pineapples made my night. During the 2nd act if I ever needed a pick me up I would just think "floating pineapples". Works lol

i saw this and it was AMAZING!!!! my man's first time seeing a musical onstage and he loved it! XD i had to explain the ending to him, which i loved even more, cause his expression was just like "what...really!?..oh..." haha and when i was skimming thru the program i was even THINKING damn that actor who plays the emcee looks a lot like justin from Queer As Folk. and by golly, look who it is! i didnt even realize it was truly him until i watched this video!

So good i had to see it twice in Louisville. Amazing cast. All of them. Hoping they somehow get this national tour recorded. It's perfect.

But that's one of the wonderful things about theater. You're forced to live in the moment. As an actor that's one of my favorite parts lol.

Saw it last night but unfortunately Andrea and Randy are no longer with the tour. It was so disappointing.
You must have seen it just after they left. They left in mid February. They had a new Emcee and Sally for the final five months of the tour.
