  • Awesome radio that it is incredibly cheap and can be modified to perform just well as more expensive radios.
    With hacking the firmware you can change the radio from a 3 channel to 8 plus many more added menu features.

    Have you completed the reprogramming video yet? Have you posted those links that we need for the Discovery board that you say are out there free for the using? I would like to see 'hands on' how you accomplish this. You can call it part #2. Thanks.

    Hey thanks for the how to! I know this is an old video, but what kind of runtime did you get with that 1500mah lipo? I have some laying around and didn't want to order a bigger one if I don't have to. Thanks!

    Would it be possible to use a three cell lipo to replace cells in a heng long tank transmitter? . Also, what could I replace the stock heng long tank battery with to improve running time please

    • @RCTanksTrucks247
      @RCTanksTrucks247  Před 8 lety

      Possible to use in the transmitter. You can use a lipo battery like a 5000mha 2 cell lipo in the tank. Will make it run for over 2hrs. Although you must get a lipo low voltage alarm.

    While you had it apart, you should have replaced the voltage regulator to get better battery life out of it.

    i purchased a transmitter 3s lipo 8C 2200mah for my futaba 72Mhz radio that took 8 AA batteries with new lipo it reads 12 volts will this be OK

    • @USMC-Sniper-0137
      @USMC-Sniper-0137 Před 6 lety

      Actually with a full charge it could read as high at 12.5 volts and this is normal. New car and truck batteries we all know as typical 12 v. batteries always read about 13.5 volts fully charged. 6 volt batteries may read 7.5 volts when fully charged and so on and so forth..........

  • @pncampbell

    Better to spend a little bit more and get the GT3C which is same firmware (i.e. upgradable) and already lipo powered

      +Helman w lipos need to be stored at around 3.8 volts as they are very stable and safe to store for long periods of time. You can never leave them fully charged as they might be hazardous

    Decent guide, but I found it a bit annoying. You said you wouldn't go through the process of soldering because you did not want to waste time, but showed taking the screws out?

  • @propfella
    @propfella Před 8 lety +3

    Someone has a poor memory. We were shown a "Discovery" board. When was that used? I'm sure I didn't go to sleep. You made reference to soldering to the Motherboard and it appears we missed that as well. Alzheimer's maybe?

    This mod isn’t very good as the lipo adds significant complexity and most the power is wasted. A much better solution is to replace the linear regulator with a fixed 5v buck converter doing so makes the power efficiency go from 40% to 90% and allows a much lower cut off voltage. Modern NIMH cells are by far the best solution for this as they don’t have issues holding power for months like lipos.

    What's with this video? Deja Vu! Get install Lipo twice and no USB board?
