I believe Danny was in the process of grieving over the death of his old drama teacher. Mr Reardon is in the front row--his new teacher in drama. He threw Danny's scripts on the floor and told him is this what Mr Crandall would have wanted! That's why Danny looks up at the end of the song. Very sad. Real actor who portrayed his first drama teacher died in real life during taping. That's why Danny says we must celebrate life by each moment, as who knows about tomorrow? I believe the clown is Reardon's Father. Hope this helps....
I remember Miss Vivian . she used to teach . neighborhood kids ;; DRAMA CLASS'ES and DANCEING of mexican agricultural, and used to have shows for family, and friends could come to see and be entertaineed..; plus I wonder what happened to her ,, maybe she headed out to Hollywood;
