James Iha is one of the most underrated guitarist's of my generation trully a gift to any guitar!
I think you mean Billy Corgan.
People don't understand that James wrote some of the Pumpkins most memorable riffs. His solo album is full of beautiful guitar work. It's not the most technically complex but it's got raw emotion and soul. Without James to balance out Billy's more depressing and dreary tendencies, the Pumpkins came to sound more or less like any other band. James being part of the peak of the band is not a coincidence
Corgan is definitely talented but as a band he couldn't have gone so far without James Iha😄
Many of the great bands have members who end up hating each other even if only for a while: the Ramones, Pink Floyd, etc.

Biggest virtual hug ever as it sounds as if you lost her…I was there too w my first born niece who I shared music with as she grew up and this is both of our favorite song from the SP…I’ve been a HUGE fan since I was in law school in Chicago in the mid 90s. ❤❤❤❤

Me and my wife fell in love to Siamese dream and Billy. I learned as meany pumpkins songs as I could till life got in the way and took over. Years passed, a child came, and now she is showing an appreciation of the music and guitar. I'm re-learning the old pumpkin songs to teach her. Me and the wife are still together 25 years later!

It's a long long boring story. But when I saw that Billy and James could get back to being friends it just made everything that looked so hopeless seems little more possible.... They where one of the coolest bands I've ever know, from the first album in the grunge days to the silver rain of the end of the century, they always had a positive outlook on life, no matter how melancholic it might have sounded....

This is my favorite pumpkins song. It's crazy how James balances Billy's energy so perfectly. They really are like yin and yang. I don't consider anything pumpkins unless James is involved.

Hoping this (and the precious shows with Iha) leads to some sort of studio reunion with these guys! Was a huge fan of them before they split, and the more recent tracks just haven't quite been the same. I know Corgan plays most of the guitars and bass on the albums, but still... something about the combination of Corgan, Iha, and Chamberlain is magic.
I hope so too, the new smashing pumpkins just isn't the same, they are just lacking the energy and connection . James played great rhythm guitar and is just a great guitar player period. It's sad how his skills were never really show cases much.

Awesome. This is my favourite SP song (soma a close second). Got to see them live on the Mellon Collie and Adore tours, glad to see James back. How good this is gives me chills.
What I love is hearing people on the audience psyched for solo parts. I’ll never forget something my guitar teacher taught me when I was first learning and I’d get nervous about a solo, he said that most people in audiences are excited for the parts of a song that they know, which isn’t usually the solo. So it makes me happy to hear people reacting who are real fans and know the song.

Dang it, this made me start crying. So many emotions here.
The original Pumpkins really need each other, I didn't like anything they did separately. I'm sure they would disagree for various reasons, and maybe even if they get back together it won't be the same. Sometimes when things change they can never be the same again, its a fact of life. They should definitely talk things out either way, esp' now that theyre grown and matured enough to see where they were wrong and the other was right. This may be why it can never be the same again, it was a moment in time when the chemistry was right... their 'differences may have been what made them so great. Either way would be nice to'see them make something new together, after reconciling their differences, who knows how that would turn out.
