Wow Kyle, Fantastic video and before I forget, really cool shades. Also, you have my vote for doing a video of your method of dehydrating. Your style of filming is EXCELLENT ! I admire the way you are when self filming and with your Apple phone too. Then, you always show the absolutely epic landscape environment that you're in, 5 STARS ! LASTLY, THANK YOU for filming these awesome destinations for us, your loyal subscribers! Warmest Regards from Arizona. Oh hey, I almost forgot, regarding your parched lips; try Burt's Bees lip balm. It weighs next to nothing. I know, ounces equals pounds. Take it from a 58 year young backpacker, bushcrafter, camper, hiker and ex-hunter, it all adds up.
Great to see you out on the trail again Kyle, I really enjoyed the film. The mountin scenery there is epic! I was digging your minimalist shelter setup. Sounded like tough wind conditions but it held. Nicely done.
Thank you for the dizzying views from Echo and Angora Peaks. I climbed Echo Pk from the Echo Lakes at age 5 or 6 in the late 1940s but had to be piggybacked down Tamarack Trail. Never made it to Angora Lake. Did Pyramid in about 1958 with brother and others. Dicks Peak ascent too scary for me. Tallac several times between late 40s and 1976.
All my hikes and backpack camping done w/o tents or sleeping pads, so it was usually most uncomfortable at night and cold even in my bag. Open fires in those days, no dehydrated foods, no altimeter watches; just me and the critters, but no bears from late '40s to early '70s. Our Pyramid hike was up & down American river side , but my older bro did the cross-Crystal Range thing.
I tried to get out to Waca Lake last year. I was a bit nervous going that far off a marked trail. Especially being solo and somewhat new to backpacking. I guess it's just a matter of finding a safe of getting there. Ropi Lakes area was amazing though. Great vid. Hope you do some more trips up here
Yes! Would really like to see a video about dehydrating food. Am myself into hiking and such outdoorsy things here in Sweden, its interesting to see how another hiking "culture" and ideas are in another country. Keep up the good work!
There are bears in the Sierra range and I know they have active ones in the Desolation Wilderness. I have yet to see any in the Desolation Wilderness. The main thing to stay safe is to use a bear can and be mindful of what you do with your food.
I don't think they are required but I talked to a couple of rangers about it and they highly recommended. That was at the time of filming this so not sure what the rules are right now.
Lake Aloha used to be called "Devils Basin" You can check out historic topo maps on Caltopo.com Also check out gplamy1 CZcams Chanel and website: www.greglamy.net He has lots of trip reports and gpx files for planning future hikes. 👊

Nice one Kyle! Love all that broken terrain, lot’s of scope for exploring.
Excellent video quality, horrible sound. I bet you Apple is going to fix that too.
How did you upload ? Thanks for sharing Kyle.
Yeah the sound it not bad when there is no wind but when there is its pretty bad. I edit with final cut and then upload.
👍👍👣
Yeah, I don't like dates (the fruit) either. Exactly for the same reasons.
cool glasses
What about bears though?

Nicey nice
😁
Did you need a bear canister there?
I don't think they are required but I talked to a couple of rangers about it and they highly recommended. That was at the time of filming this so not sure what the rules are right now.
