  • What's the perfect hatchback for the city? Well, the Honda City Hatchback, of course! This is the 2022 model year that fills in a gap that the Honda Jazz left following its departure from the Philippine market. Let's see whether it's a worthy replacement to the legendary nameplate that is loved the world over. Find out what we think of the Honda hatch on this Behind the Wheel review.

Driven my 2021 City sedan around 20k kms now. Steering wheel is the exact same as it was when I first drove it out of the dealership. No covers/sleeves (it's actually pretty thick already, which I like), no treatment done, no fancy shield sprays, and it still is the best steering wheel I've ever held.

Another great review, Caco! I really wish this cool hatchback was coming to the US market. Honda USA stopped importing the Jazz (Fit) after the 2020 model year, so there's no entry model here for under $20,000. Guess I'll be keeping my 2007 Fit for a few more years.

Our family had the 1st and 2nd gen CRV both had around 150k- km plus and I managed to use it 4 years ago when I got my license, using it for years as well as my parents the steering well was so slippery. I eventually had to put a steering wheel cover on it to get a better grip, sadly I had to sell because of the high maintenance is required and it just wasn't practical anymore. Now I'm driving a 2016 ASX and it's a much comfortable drive, I do hope the ASX would be revived for the Philippine market since crossovers are becoming increasingly more popular now.

Hi, City hatchback owner here, I got the blue variant of this car, this is actually my first car as a college student so I may be a little bias but here are my thoughts:
    Whats Good/Great:
The colour is great and the hatchback makes it stand out abit more, this car will be great to customize and Im already saving for a spoiler
The height could be better but the other dimensions of this compensates for it
Comfort is great, Interior is as good as the RS sedan but it has a key difference in the seat patterns.
Fuel economy is great, I can use this car and not worry about the gas for maybe 4-5 days, depends on your commute, Full tank of this gives you around 400km
This car sounds great, especially when stepping on the gas pedal
Good AC, Starting this car outside on a hot day is godly
    Great speakers
And the versatility of the hatch is great, I can fit alot inside and I can sleep too
    Steering is light too
This car can handle rough roads well enough
    Problems:
    Not the fastest
Height is a problem, could be taller, like maybe increase it to 140 instead of 135
I don't think the headlights are bright enough, even with the fog lamps (Maybe Im bias because Im used to driving pick up trucks)
The middle row armrest is tooo low
Charging points, I wish they were usb instead
    Back camera kinda sucks tbh

The USB ports on the City sedan and hatch 2020/2021 are a step backwards in my opinion. You can only use the bottom port for Android Auto or USB MP3 playback - exclusively. The top port is a dead waste of time, you can only use it to charge/power a phone.
The Honda City 2015 model for example, ALL the ports work for USB MP3 playback and the 1 port dedicated for iPod/Nano - so you do not have to swap or take out a USB device.
Another annoyance is that an iPod/Nano DOES NOT work at all in the 2020/2021 model - "unsupported device" or "device unsupported"
I mean i dont understand why they did this, its really silly.

I am a 2007 Jazz owner and was really quite sad that I may never own a brand new one again in the future. Methinks the bosses at Honda may have probably overpriced the 3rd gen. So it was not just the pandemic. I always expect to pay a little more for a Honda but there is always a certain cap to it. And they just exceeded that cap.

Still a slight disappointment for a Jazz RS owner like me. However, at least Honda is sensible enough to NOT totally drop subcompact hatchbacks and sedans for an all-SUV/Crossover lineup. That said, this City Hatch is pretty decent, offers the same - not more versatility than my Jazz, but is heavier and slightly more expensive. So glad my Jazz 2019 still has plenty of years to run.

Using honda jazz for the past 9 years and I'm about to upgrade to honda city hatchback , the sure looks cool and the handling was great but the thing that instantly kills my interest is the amount of space, compared to the honda jazz , honda city felt very small, especially for the back seat the roof was very low ( I'm 163 cm there's barely any room between my head and the roof) so you need to kind of lay down a bit, fun car to drive but not for a family in my opinion

3-weeks old city hatchback 2022 owner here boss.
If I only found out right away before the release of the unit that the blowby was so bad when you removed the dip stick and engine oil cap of the engine I wouldn't have bought it, I would have just had an altis.
The rear wheels are both misaligned.
The bad thing is, all of the new units in the dealership are like that, the engine blowby is so strong and the rear tires are "sakang" or having a negative camber.
Also, as a new owner, we are very careful and took care of the exterior's paint and plastic accents, but you can't imagine it happening in the casa because you're trusting them, the piano black plastic on the front of the hood obtained a lot of scratches since the mechanic did not put an engine bay cover or fender guard. Imagine a shiny 3-week old new unit that you brought in casa for early pms and you found out that it gained scratches after pms while at their service area. Tsk tsk
Another alarming concern was the transmission jerk, or what they called it shift-shock in an automatic transmission. It occurs once in a while during deceleration when you're doing engine breaking, attaining low rpm and low speed at 30-40kph. Tsk tsk

Did you guys fiddle around with your video quality? It seems more cinematic now, sure, but I would rather have the former super sharp and uber realistic format. But that's just my eyes talking.

Mas mataas pa ng konti Ground Clearance ng Brio RS? 🙃🙃🙃 If mag-upgrade ako, kala ko naman medyo mas tataas siya since 15inch lang yung wheels nung sa Brio RS, this is 16 😅

@@rogamingz206 The Fit/Jazz has an amazing cup holder just to the left of the steering wheel for the driver. It seems like a small detail but makes daily driving much more convenient. The City is basically a Fit/Jazz but leaves that cup holder out.
