🔹 The BEST Chess Opening Against The Sicilian Defense - Every Move is a Trap! - • The BEST Chess Opening...
In this video lesson, GM Igor Smirnov shares with you a deadly chess opening trap in the Alapin Variation of the Sicilian Defense, which allows you to checkmate your opponents right in the opening stage.
The Alapin Variation happens after the first moves 1.e4 c5 2.c3. Most amateur and club level players play the moves 2...Nc6 and 2...d5, both giving a strong initiative for White.
The following trap happens after the most commonly played moves of Black. In fact, it leads to a forcing checkmate after getting a winning position in just 13 moves!

Really appreciate these videos, I’ve learned a lot. Keep up the great work!
Glad they are helpful.
i noticed from 3:00, the position also arises from Panov attack in the carokann defense! --thanks GM, now i know how to continue from that position...
Thank you so much for your videos. I started a month and a half ago and they have made a BIG difference.
:)
Wonderful! Great to hear

Great video, I’ve had these positions a number of times
@1:12 Don't tell anyone LOL 😂
But the vedio is on youtube...
GM Igor is awesome...
Thanks Igor! Very helpful as always.
Glad it was helpful!
That's indeed very useful! Thanks Igor
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome video.
Wondering if instead of NxQ, is g2 x f3 better?
Then black plays Qd4.
Then white plays QxQ NxQ
Then Nb5
Black's NxN leads to a massive attack for white with Bb5+.
Or
Black Nc2+ Kd2 NxRa1
Then white plays Nc7+ winning back the rook.
In the end white can keep the Knight, but black's knight is lost.
At 2:43 the move Be2 is my preferred move because it safely transposes into another line: 1.e4 c5 2.c3 d5 3.exd5 Qxd5 4.d4 Nc6 5.Nf3 Bg4 (delaying cxd5) 6.Be2 cxd4 7.cxd4 where White is solid and will lead to a sharp middle game where the better player will win. Also, at 7:52 my engine at home says that White still has the advantage but Black is holding on with Nf6 with the idea on Ne4+ and Nd6. However, the rook sac line looks like fun and I might have to try it!
More of Sicilian, from both sides pls
So enjoyable to watch this trap 🎉
nice. thanks
Do you have a video that analyzes 2 .... Nf6 3 e5 Nd4 etc (main line as I recall for Alapin) ?
Great , thanks a lot 👏
Welcome 😊
I love.the alapin, is my main variation against sicilian
This is my new trap in my toolbox! Thank you for the nice traps!
I started at 700 ELO few months ago. I jump up instantly to 975 the week I started watching your videos... Thank you so much.
I 've notice that you don't have any video about Bird's opening (at least I didn't find it)
I had Black and didn't know what to do when my opponent played f4... :(
could you please, please make a video about it? Thank you so much for your time and effort... :) ^^
who plays the bird opening haha
@@balloondestroyer4892 Well, you ''re right.. Bird's opening is played only by high level players and it's used to confuse your opponent. If you know how to play it, you can turn the game in to Secillian or London or even King's Gambit game, depends of what your opponent's responses. I guess you are not one of them...
8:44 Kb7 is not forced! What if king goes b8?
Awesome... 👌
🙌
according to the engine Nb4 is losing bc of the attack u have shoved. After d5 Nd4 Bf4 there is e5?! (dxe5 e.p fxe6) which is playable I think. Can u analyze that variation in deep ? Thx
The Rosen reference!
At 3:24 What if the bishop drops back to g4 instead to cover the checkmating square on c8?
Thank you so much for this trap to crush the Sicilian Defense 🙏❤️
Please make a video on how to tackle the Petrov/Petroff Defense as White🙏🙏
Goat!!!
Hey how is Kb7 forced after discovered check at 8:40?? Kb8 looks better to me... What am I missing?
can you show a game where you win playing Sic Ilian cos I always seem to lose playing it?
SUPER
Based on 2…Nc6 or 2…Nd5.
What if 2…Qb6?
5:16 after Bb5+ …Kh7
7:22 after Bb5+ …Kh8
8:20 free MC
9:22 after Nc3 Q attack
Terus berkembang channel nya sukses selalu
After 2....Nc6 3.d4 cxd4 4.cxd4 d5 I avoid that whole mess by playing the simple 5.Nc3 and pushing in the center after either 5...dxe4 6.d5 or 6.e5 after either 5...e6 or 5...Nf6. And simpler, but no less trappy, after 2...d5 3.exd5 Qxd5 is 4.Nf3 -- I've won innumerable blitz games after 4...Bg4 5.Qa4+ when Black overlooks that their ...Bg4 is hanging. And if they play 5...Bd7 6.Qf4 is an interesting non-theoretical line
You can also do bc6 8:49
After nf3-e5
At 1:50 if Black knight goes B4, what wrong can happen?
And suppose they just move back. then what? Just being a little short on development doesn't mean they lost the game?
Umm, why did you not say anything about pawn xe5 if you take the pawn with the black bishop it's checkmate on the next move...
9:05 what if the queen goes to a5?
What if black knight plays d5 instead of c2
Очень интересная ловушка, но к сожалению на низком рейтинге очень редко можно встретить сицилианку. И все же плюс одна атака к арсеналу)
Mantap
No one falls for this, I get crushed everytime I try it
I got a 5 move mate after playing c3 in this . Game went 1e4 c5 2c3 Nc6 3 Bc4 a6 4 Qb3 b5?? 😳5 Bxf7#. 🤯
When I encounter the Alapin variation I seek transposition to the French defense with 2. ---- e6.
Ggs!
Yaaaaaaaaaaa😊
That was cool . Can you show some vids with london?
When I play c3, my my opponent goes for e5 on the next move. What shall I do in that case?
Just develop - Nf3 and Bc4 are a good start, since the a2-g8 diagonal has been weakened. White can often go for a fast attack on f7 in that line, while the hole on d5 is a long term liability.
I have played this variation many times and each time opponent played f6. Then what, he will crush you.
Master level opponents 😂
6:09 but NC2?😮😮
it is ok unless the black decides to play Kd8 instead of Kd7 where in that case Bf4 will fail to e5!
So would you perhaps say… as black… white would be Alapin your business?
why do we assume the bishop will retreat to h5 and not to g4? if bishop to g4 then there's no mating attack
If 14. Bb5+ Kd8 (instead of Kc8??) there's no winning attack either
Disgusting checkmate after c2
Fay
Why you hate sicilian so much? Lol.
Wow first comment
first here
So disgusting
By chance there is not better to escape with the black bishop to a4?
