Not sure if you have already fixed this, but use fine sandpaper to take out the extra plastic.
Sandpaper on the table, ring flat on top, move in slow circles until thickness matches old metal ring.

Under that same thought, then what's the point of "carbon fiber" faceplate, or colored switch covers, or aluminum accents, or stickers, or any other limitless aesthetics? What's the point of colored motors, colored TPU prints, colored props? Part of the hobby is making your gear look fun. 😃

@@oleg146 I don't disagree that many, if not most, choices are determined by functionality. My point is that it's just a waste of time arguing aesthetics, people like what they like for many reasons, some of which are just for fun. One could even say it's pointless to decorate your house with Christmas lights because you can't see them when you're inside your house and they use up a lot of energy. Sure it's a true statement, but it's fun nonetheless. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Got this mod a few weeks ago and have really liked it.. I love LEDs on anything so having them on my TX was a no brainer for me.. I don't care if I can't see them when I'm flying..

I've only recently received my TX16S, an upgrade over a Jumper T8SG, so this type of mod could not be justified yet! The stock gimbals on it are much better than the old Jumper I used to fly with. The throws are a bit far when pinching, but this is what I signed up for when getting a full size radio. Not sure I'd want the LED lights.
Use a dremel with variable speed set on very low with an acorn or barrel shaped bit and take off some of the carbon fiber on the body of the tx. Don't lose your throw Joshua!
This was one of my "first things to do" mods. Gutted as I too have the CNC gimbals. Actually, my CNC gimbals in the MKii Max do touch the inner down on both sides...stock! Well, this just kiss. Doesn't effect my 100% on the screen, though. But still...gutted about these lights.
Adjust your stick ends up to clear the side. Adjust by the amount it sank the gimbals in.
Lengthening the stick ends doesn't change the angle at which they intersect the case. They still hit.
@@JoshuaBardwell I was thinking the same as @AtomicFrawg , You adjusted the throttle to stop the rubbing. The outer limit is round yeah, you should be able to rewind back some throttle, and remove some jaw off either side... yeah?

So, my comment is based off of that information.
I used to fly at night, myself. In fact, I flew so often, that it made the local community newspaper as a "UFO sighting" & the pic they had was of my T-Rex 500 ESP 3G. 🤣
Not really sure what these are for - I normally fly in daylight, I have enough trouble seeing the screen, I dont think I would notice LEDs. The only thing these achieve is making your TX look like a Jukebox :-)

Another way how to make your radio battery empty faster :) For indoor LED ring racers in dark this probably make some "sense".
Are gimbal stick extensions not a thing? Seems like that would sort this issue AND give you a longer throw for more granular control (i think)

I do have those lights and I have the TX16S MAX pyrodrone edition and I did not have any issues with the throw or rubbing, I was just watching the review on those new gimbals and I was gonna get them til I saw this video and it made me decide to stick with the stock TX16S MAX gimbals.
I really love those LEDs too and I really like how deep the gimbals get cause I can feel I can get to the end of the throw effortlessly without having to do any adjustments, I'm not a pincher though.
The stock gimbals don't rub.
Now make the LED:s brighter at high throttle, dimmer at low and change color depending on your roll axis movements...

Just got your radio. It came with the led rings! Do you want them?
What was hitting? The “stick”? If I saw it correctly.. they are “thick” barrels.. most of the length ..
Remove the “grips/tips” and see if they still hit.. if not..your good and just add “tips” to ur gimbal sticks..
That's what I thought too.. Just raise the gimbal ends up or put new ends on..

I remember some of the Hobbyking Turnigy radios also had light up gimbals but they implemented it a bit differently... To be honest this looks a bit better overall imo.

Wish I would have seen this before purchasing, kicking myself in the ass later will be fun. I did notice though that essentially the AG01 gimbal has the 2 aluminum pieces built into it. Adding the plastic insert is like adding the aluminum drop piece. adding that with the ag01, is like slamming the living heck outta the gimbal. The best you could do is shave the plastic piece as thin as it can be to hold the ring in place and hope you gain the clearance you need. I'll be trying it... I think... NEVERMIND.. after trying this I realized my stock gimbals with the led ring hit. My stock gimbals with both metal plates hit. The ag01s hit all the same places just worse. With no plates I still had to adjust the stick endpoints to keep it from bottoming out on either the gimbal itself sticks down and out or the case down/up and in.
If using the AG01 gimbals with this add-on if you use the original gimbal screw thumb ends it will minimise the rubbing when at certain stick positions.
I bought one of the first generation of lights from the bangerang site, Had to solder it to a mosfet and had to use tape to hold the leds to the sides of the plastic inserts. I think it looks great and nobody will be snooping on whats going on with my controller cause its honking blinding.

Are those LED connection points the same as switches SI and SJ if you install them??
What you can do to fix that problem is to sand down either that plastic price a little bit or that Aluminum price that comes with the T16s. I feel that it would work.

I just got the Mk2 Max JB edition and it came with this mod in the box but uninstalled. Looks great! :)
Been eying a TX16S for a while now. But, my X9D SE "still works just fine". So... Tight ass really puckers on hitting the $200 "buy now" button for something that is replacing something that is just as functional.
But, the TX16S is pretty cool..

Sell your old one. It is worth it. :) Best radio under $1400 or so.

In theory you could rewire one of the switches to the power went through that switch. But as far as like doing it as a function in OpenTX, no.

No. Just the up/down axis.
I bought white instead of blue 'cause you could change the color with marking pens. In 2021, the FPV drone market is falling down with much reduced products due to the global stagflation. Good luck!

I remember everyone saying the LEDs on the Skyzone 03o goggles was gimmickie and goofy. At least with the goggles you can look like a robot.
Say no more.. the LED mod won't work for me. I don't want to remove functionality from my radio despite how good this light looks.. plus I won't be using this radio at night, so I couldn't care less about lights on the gimbals.

i guess i'm not too clear with your after edit about using the screws that came with the light ring... Did using those screws make it work perfect and not DEEP inset with the AG01's? I'd like to do the mod too but not at that expense unless you were saying by using the screws that came with it actually fixed the problem you were having
Don’t forget if you do this mod like JB you will need to reset your end points in BF
No. Just run stick calibration in the radio and it will detect the new endpoints.

I just saw this after buying the AG01 and the LED mod. Pretty sure I won't use the LED mod. I prefer to keep the metal plates from the MAX mod. Pretty sure they will make LED mod that is compatible and I will have to buy it again lol
I dont seem to ever go to the 100 and -100 while flying unless I think about it! Maybe you can put leds behind the gimbals? I wouldn't be a ring, but maybe it would look okay?

Normally you can adjust the gimbal ends. They are two parts or fixed by hex inside.
Was thinking the same. Just make them a little longer so the wider part sticks out of the gimbal bay.

You can actually recalibrate the radio through settings and regain full control of the sticks.
Those gimbals look super nice, I'd give up the LEDs to use those gimbals, can't see the LEDs when you're behind the goggles.
They do look nice, but I'm personally not a fan of LEDs at all.

Dremel. The faceplate is a $15 so grab a spare if you're concerned

just something else for people with more money than they know what to do with... other than being "eye candy" what do they do to improve the abilities of the pilot, the item being flown or anything else you can think of... and dont tell me it helps being able to improve your nite time flying because one hardly ever looks at the gimbals when they are flying anyway... and... something else to break too...

How do stickers and custom skins on radios make the pilot any better? It doesn't.
It's about personalizing your gear so it looks fun - a pilot's personality is reflected in their flying, and in the way they personalize their gear.
@@Tlavite looking at the ring kit and my radio, it looks as if you need to have the 130$ gimbal set to use them... I guess the ring kit requires one to remove the gimbals from the radio, insert the rings and then replace the gimbals which seems will drop the gimbals back a tad into the radio case

Hey quick question. I built an x8 and 2 of my motor pads lifted off on my fc so I remaped one the the led pad but not sure what I can make the other one to. I have the spracing h7nano-s. Any help would be appreciated greatly 🙏

To answer your question if you can live with the shorter throw...no, you can't. It's nice looking but don't put style over essence when flying.
Did these end up in the boxer as well? I installed these in the boxer and didn't have the throw limitation issue, but did have to snip the screws shorter. Do these impact battery life?
