It is a great way to support our channel!
Everyone's Palate is different, but I find Tapatio repo and anejo extremely minty. Carlos is a true master, and the Excelencia is my favorite XA. Thank You for doing this, it more than clear that you guys know the difference between a great tequila and celebrity diffuser baloney.
Cheers! Thanks for watching!
Always helps me get through my Monday. Thanks for the video
Great vid! You guys are awesome and deserve a WAY bigger following.
Cheers! Thank you!
I've watched several of videos by these guys. I like these Drinkthroughs. I'm sipping on some Fortaleza Blanco while watching this. I'll put this brand on my list to check out in the future. The only one available in my area is the Blanco.
Love the drink through series! requesting an El Dorado rum drink through!
Tequila and hot sauce. I even remember having tapioca as a dessert as a kid. Way to go!!
I bet Dillon was feeling pretty good after that second mix of the extra anejo and blanco 110 lol. Awesome video guys! Cheers!
Dillon, Id still try the reposado’s and here’s why. Don Julio reposado is the best of the different aged varieties they produce, because the reposado is made with first time ex-bourbon barrels, and then they re-use those barrels again to make their Anjeo, and even 1942. So the reposado compared to the others is the best most complex sipper they make imo. It destroys patron extra anjeo and is half the price.
I like don Julio, only issue is they add additives to get that flavor profile.
I've had the Anejo and the XA, and both are great. I had the XA last night and truly it is the most stunning tequila. I came from scotch and bourbon, and frankly it just blows so much of that stuff away.
I could watch you three all day! Ty so much. But just tequila! Xo
Amazing!
i'm convinced, going to try these
Also, I enjoyed watching this video with a few drams of Arette Reposado. Totally appreciate the recommendation!
when you were briefly talking about extra anejo and some scotches being finished in bourbon barrels, it made me wonder if a "bourbon barrel-finished spirits" drinkthrough might be interesting. Featuring, say, an example or two of extra anejo tequila, scotch finished in bourbon barrels, and rum finished in bourbon barrels. Might make for a fun exploration of different liquors that have all spent time in the "same" type of barrel.
Love the 110 !!!
Tapatio top 5 tequila brands for me
Nice Drinkthrough. I tend to prefer the blanco expressions.
Love the clean taste of well made blanco tequilas.
Great video.
Great review! Please review more tequila!
Thanks!
Thanks! We've got more tequila videos coming - stay tuned!
Great breakdown gents, I hear where Dillion is coming from on buying blanco or extra anejo. I usually can't decide so I find myself going for middle ground repos.
Top line of tequila. The 110 Blanco is my favorite.
tequila is the man's white wine.
A blend I do at home all the time is to take lunazul repo and pour a quick splash of Supremo (from 1123) on top. i find the supremo way too sweet, like addictivo. knocking down that sweetness with, like 9parts lunazul repo to one part Supremo works great.
but YES, blending tequila to a joven can be innocent fun or honestly make a better final product. this is why wineries have blends after all.
My second time to watch this video I went back to see what y'all's thoughts on the 110 were I have yet to try a overproof. So I think I'm going to go by the tapatio 110
Would love to see a Taptio Ex A vs Tear of LLorona Blind !!!!
What’s the ratio for XA to 110 if I was to mix? Great video guys!
Damn, after that balance poor Dillon gonna be faded lol
literally had the extra anejo in my mitts two hours ago and passed on it because I didnt know anything about it. Super surprised to see this in my sub page. Fate?
Liquid candy 🍬
This is a great review, I enjoyed the comments like no other ones.
I’m hesitating to buy a 110 or any other like reposado or añejo ( extra añejo is out of my league). Which one you recommend ?
And yes, I’m beginning to settle a little tequila bar at home. 🤩
We usually recommend to try the blanco and the añejo to see if you like more or less barrel influence. However, if you can only get one, the reposado can make sense because you get aspects of both the añejo and blanco profiles. Hope that helps!
Can you guys do a Don Julio 70 review?
Just finished trying the repo, Anejo and 110 and all have been hidden gyms for the price. Best cheapish tequilas out there that I’m aware of
Any thoughts on trying Tequila Ocho's line? The Blanco is really nice, but I haven't plashed on the Resposado or Anejo yet...
Definitely on our list! We've got more tequila stuff on the way!
This tequila is one of the best at my hometown
Blanco Tequilla and Topo Chico with a splash of lime...." ranch water" it's called in TX.
Whenever I talk about Tapatio tequila to my family or friends they usually think I’m talking about Tapatio hot sauce. 😄😄😄.
Tapatio is produced at the La Alteña distillery in Arandas. The same distillery where El Tesoro and Tequila Ocho are produced.
Just picked up the Tapatio 110. Wanted a high proofer to add to the small shelf and that's the only one that's reasonably priced around here. Cazcanes and Wild Common high proofs are getting nutty on price.
Anyway - I'm the odd ball maybe. You say that Whiskey drinkers would have to start with the Extra Anejo but I greatly preferred the Blanco. I've drank terrible tequila before and didn't think I'd like the spirit. Once I grabbed a couple good additive (mainly sugar) free ones I realized it's a great spirit and doesn't give me headaches. Wonder if my fellow Islay fans have the same reaction. I started with bourbon but quickly realized I prefer high rye and rye whiskey - hating most wheaters. Tried some scotch... didn't like malt but found Islay and loved the crazy flavors. Came to tequila... don't care for Extra Anejo, most taste like a bad whiskey mixed with tequila. Blanco tequila is by far my favorite expression but I do like respasado too just because it's SLIGHTLY less agave punch.
Well guys. Excellencia is sold out for at least 2 years worldwide. If you have a bottle, hang onto it.
That blend of 110 and Excelencia sounds really interesting. What was the ratio that Dillon made? 4:1?
Excited to try these but they’re now 750ml and even in Texas big box stores the blanco is about 50
And worth every penny
anyone know where I can buy this in California? It's interesting to see how the prices keep on going up
Got an excellencia for 85$! It tastes soooo good
How does the Tapatio Excelencia compare to Tears Of Llorona?
I like Tapatio better than almost all the more expensive brands. I prefer blanco in general. I do like Arette even more because it’s less peppery to me.
What are your thoughts on the Excelencia vs. the Tears of Llorona?
They are pretty different. Excelencia definitely retains a bit more of the agave flavor - or at least it is more up front with agave flavors. Tears has a lot more barrel expressed - but it is blended perfectly to complement the agave. So - I would say the Excelencia taste more like a traditional extra anejo - while Tears takes the concept of an extra anejo to the next level. Both are great though!
12:13 knows his shizzle
Heading to Mexico in July. I'm a bourbon and rum drinker. What extra añejo would you recommend to someone like me?
Tough call. If you think you'll like strong agave flavors - the Tapatio Excelencia is great. Consider trying ArteNOM 1146 - it isn't an extra, but is an example of one with strong barrel/finishing influences. You usually can't go wrong with the better brands out there like: El Tesoro, G4, Arette, Ocho, etc. Any of those EAs will be solid.
Can't get it in vast liquor wasteland that is Ohio.
Oof. I hear ya. There are things that I can’t get and so prior to the pandemic, I would plan “family trips” to different states to coincidentally stop by liquor stores that happen to be on route. 😉
Ditto here north central Ohio. Had to order the repo thru Ferment &Still. Glad I did!
Liquid candy 🍬....
Casa De Oro drink through. That is all.
