The Witcher 4 might hurt come out in a reasonable time. They don’t have to develop the engine. It’s unreal engine 5, they’re partnered so they have support from the unreal team, and we have seen how fast production can be with it.

God that is such a good idea. I’m on Witcher kick today because I decided to look into modding bg3 in the name of making a full fledged Witcher build, and it turned into me making the entire game The Witcher 4. As a result I was listening to the audiobook and browsing CZcams for Witcher news and hear we are full circle with me finding out about Witcher 3 modding while listening to the very chapter of the book you just mentioned.

It might be worth it. Remember the guy wo created DOTA and got 2,5 BILLION for it? He used simmiliar tool from Blizzart for Warcraft 3, now this is the tool for Witcher 3 (even the names are simmiliar xD ). Will we have a Witcher billionaire?
So, is the update PC only?
I don't care what happens but someone has to make:
1.bloody barron returning/fate quest
2.a contract on oriana(blood and wine higher vampire)
3.a fixed reason of state quest where you can side with Dijkstra without killing rouch
4.some Witcher contracts with ciri after she becomes a Witcher (if you get the ending)
We dont know if orianna is an HV
The devs didnt seem to choose if she is an HV or just a bruxa

@@AB-fr2ei i never got the mission where you go to the unseen elder instead of fairy tail world in all my playthroughs but I've seen so many videos on the topic and so many playthrough of the mission that I'm pretty sure she is a higher vampire

one thing that really bugs me and i don't see many people mention is, please for heaven's sake, change the soldiers and the flags among a few other things based on who wins the war in the end.
Someone already made a mod quest for oriana, dont know where to download it though.
The same levels of creation are only possible with the bethesda creation kit to this degree. Hence why Skyrim has THAT many mods.
only difference is that mods can be installed in consoles as well

I already see how big this will catapult this game. I can already see groups forming on discord, working on multiple assets to get a big thing going. I for one am i already writing up a script and hopefully a few of my friends will jump in on it of course on their off time.
There's a reason skyrim is the most modded game of all time and growing, they've had a developer for so long skyrim seems as popular as recent titles on the nexus.
The only other games besides bethesda games with such powerful tools probably are gothic 1 and 2. Those games get mods until this day. Big ones at that
Bethesda only lets you mod because without that the games would never be finished.

Neverwinter nights, kinda is that way. Dm’s basically have full dev kits, but the game was designed with that in mind.
But other than that, yeah gothic and witcher is the the most moddables

The Redkit will go down in history as another memorable CDPR tale to tell. I remember when they first announced it in E3 2014! (if memory serves.) And then they never delivered it post-launch. As requests intensified on their forums, their mods started banning people aggressively for merely mentioning the word "Redkit" 😄
It's nice to see a decade later they are finally releasing it to the public. Modders will sure go crazy.
Even long before this REDkit was announced, some creative people have managed to create well-done quest mods such as 'Ciri's Sole Memento' and 'A Night to Remember'. Now imagine what we can do with this tool...

New monsters are needed. Like Manticore or sea Monsters or swamps/river Vipper, Amphisbene, Geraltia, dragonturtle or something like a Kejran from witcher 2.
Exactly my dude, cutted monsters like manticore, vypper, dragons or vendigo would be great.
I would also say that it could be nice if there were made a few new, better animations for existing monsters to add more variety for each kind of them, instead of being relatively the same (such as in forktail and wyvern's case)
Monster finishers would be also an interesting idea

Some AI can reproduce voices quite well. So voice-over should not be a problem for modders who are really invested in making something good even with already existing characters.
Yes modder friend who working as sound ingenior told AI generated voices are really decent now.
Until some voice actor start whining about it and gets the mod taken down which has happened before

@@FutRR_ But yet the mods are free, they ain't gonna be paid & they won't voice act for free. If it's specifically for that game & stays in that game I don't see the problem apart from they not making money from it. Many great mods have been ruined because of that. The last I checked you also can't copyright voices only a characters voice so it would be down to a company to complain not the voice actor doing that voice unless they own the character.
@@FutRR_ Additionally a much bigger worry for them is a company that already paid them to do a characters voice. Just taking it & cloning it with them not being able to do a thing about it.

Talking about voice talent and mods. I and many other professional voice actors lend our voices out for mods and fan content because we love the IPs and also it's great practise for us in between paid gigs. Inwould imagine voice talent from the modding community would love to help with any mods made for the witcher 3!
The best in-game editor I've ever seen was the map editor in Far Cry but that was pretty old, this might be even better 😁
Also you mentioned copyright problems with voice lines. I think this should be no problem since people won't earn any money. If there would be any kind of monetisation then yes, copyright laws would strike

This is great news though I do wish we'd gotten this earlier. I don't know if the modding community will be as enthusiastic as they would have been, given the game is 9 years old
my thoughts exactly. On the one hand, it's awesome they did release this, but on the other hand it's sad to think about what could have been over the last 9 years and how huge the list of mods both huge and small would have been.

CDPR owns GOG, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be compatible with any playable version of the game at least on next gen and pc. He mentioned console support so I’m pretty sure that means CDPR’s own in house launcher will work.
I hated that there is no zoomed camera angle that makes the camera closer to Geralt on the Switch version. It disconnects me from playing from PS5 at home and playing outside my home.
i wonder if youll be able to create your own entire map thats in a separate instance (like how Novigrad and Skellige arent in the same load zone). I would also love to see people trying to adapt the books. Lots of possibilities
What I would LOVE as a mod is a sandbox story mode where your NOT Geralt but your own custom Witcher with different school and all that sandboxes in the world as the Geralt story pseudo takes place along side, or perhaps after the events.
I mean that is what people really want now out of Witcher, to be their own school and origin story build.
I only first played TW3 about 3 months ago so its still fresh in my mind and am looking forward to these updates!

I played the Witcher 1 mod stories after I finished the Witcher 2. It was fine : a nice reminder of the old-fashioned style of the first game (and the voices were in Polish so I could learn a few expressions thanks to subtitles :-) )

Hope people can make something like Tundra Defense in Skyrim. Would be nice to build your own fortress and recruit soldiers/guards to guard it from bandits, ogres, etc.
I wonder if people will now finish the devil pit quest that was cut from the game.

We definitely need to see some battles between the Nilfgaardians and Redanians. A siege of Novigrad in case of the Nilfgaardian ending is definitely needed

You forgot WC3 and SC2's world editor, those were top tier and churned out amazing stuff. Some maps made it look it it wasn't even a WC3/SC2 game

Wow! Whats great about this is that, with a bit of help from AI, we can finally change stuff that makes no sense from the main story, like when Dijkstra betrayed Roche thinking that Gerald would let that slide and stuff like that. I can't wait to see what the mod community will do with this tool.

now i can finally move all the damn "?" in Skellige from the damn water to land......maybe even turn the damn sea into land....not gonna lie the "?" in Skellige is the only thing stopping me from replaying the game for the 7th time because being the completionist i am i ALWAYS have to clear the damn map
used autoloot mod to autoloot these chest while only passing near them. made the experience way better than needing to dive for each.
agree but traversing the water is the annoying part even with the faster boat speed mod

Man, all I want is more weapons and armor. Geralt looks so cool during ingame cutscenes and dialogue sequences while wearing the gear I have on him that I can't help but want more custom stuff for those said scenarios.
I got the Shades of Iron mod, and nothing quite beats seeing a Witcher wearing a set of fullplate in high fantasy style, or hunter gear from Bloodborne whilst talking to or menacing someone/something.

I finished all of the quests including all Gwent and potion questions and then stopped playing right before the final mission because I couldn't remember what the story was about
witcher 3 is a gift that just keeps on giving
I can already see mods adapting the short stories from the books.
only problems i can think of is that any new quest will lack dialogue or will need AI versions of VA's which is usually Audible

Finally we can remake Djikstra to not be a complete moron towards the end. Now we just need a redkit for game of thrones to change Tyrion Lannister to not be a complete moron as well towards the end of the GoT series lmao. I think what this will mainly do by the way is going to allow for big big big underground addons. Like we could see like massive catacombs in novigrad for example instead of the relatively moderate amount of sewers we had seen which allows for huge questlines. This works extremely well since the original world doesnt really have to be changed but rather you just add something. And of course there are a lot of areas where you can easily add lots of things in the witcher, like just put some islands into the sea or whatever and you can really do anything you want with it.
I think while the nextgen update was nice it didnt really make things that much better for PC players who were already playing the game heavily modded with the HD rework by the community and many improvements that were added officially with the nextgen update, thus I consider this the biggest and most important update. For sure it has the most potential

Yes, they were making big promises about redkit, but the game's release was a big buggy mess in many aspects and they kept moving the redkit release all the time and then they stopped caring when they went on to make cyberpunk lmao.
So now you get these scraps almost 10 years after the game released LMFAO.

They released REDkit for Witcher 2 back in the day, and it didn't get any recognisable mods, so my hopes aren't up, especially since Witcher 3 is 9 years old.
They already have released the RedKit for Cyberpunk 2077. And it IS the biggest modding tool available for this engine.

Bethesda always gives modders the development tool kit for all their rpg games such as Fallout and Elder Scrolls and Starfield as well and were pretty much the first company to popularize doing this which is why their games last decades in players hands.
i just hope for witcher 4 we can update from witcher 3 (of coz we must buy it first for update) that we just open quest at location like red wine, so we cant use our setting on wither 3.
Bro i found a glitch in witcher 3 after fighting the wild hunt after some time when the game finishes we can or what i saw was near "tor gvalch'ca" near to that place there's a thin and long island when we go there i saw a wild hunt warrior fighting soldiers in air. i don't know how many have seen this already that too i don't know when i searched online i found nothing ,it was really funny still fighting after the game. sorry for my bad english.
And now with ElevenLabsAI or other AI voice cloners, we can even make Geralt say whatever we want, making this... a new level of custom storytelling...
The only AAA games I can think of from other publishers with a modding tool like this are Halo: MCC and Skyrim/Fallout 4. Super excited, these kinds of tools always lead to such amazing content
This has the potential to put the modding scene for The Witcher 3 on the same level as something like a Bethesda game! Very exciting!
To an extent that's true, but sadly they are only choosing to release this kit 9 years after the games release. I think had they released this not too long after launch, it would have undoubtedly had a similar story to a Bethesda game in terms of mods. but after 9 years, a lot of enthusiastic players who may have been willing to make mods over the years, have simply moved on to other things.
redkit for the witcher 2 was abondened very fast after release, even mashs we were able to change in game. Hope this time won't just release without any support of it.
