Last year I worked on a 4 part workshop with Strathmore on how to draw realistically with charcoal. I thought I would upload them on my channel as well, to help those of you that are interested in learning to draw with charcoal. This is part 2 in the series!
Thank yooouuuuu!
I am seeing this to improve my drawing with charcoal pencil
i’ve been wanting to get back into charcoal, but never was motivated enough! thank you for the inspiration to start it again 🙏🏼 😊
This is gorgeous..you have explained it beautifully from beginning to the end ..I might even treat myself to some charcoals this year ..thank you for such a brilliant tutorial 😀

Amazing!! EXTREMELY helpful in clarifying everything I have questioned as a newbie to charcoal drawing/pencil drawing. Thank you so much!!!
Beautiful and wonderful tutorials!!!!
Just brilliant! Thank you.
Great information.thanks for sharing your experience.good job.
Great drawing! Very real.
Im learning about charcoal tomorrow at school. We're drawing 🍃 with different mediums
Such great tips! Thank you!
It was a nice video, drawings with charcoal pencils was a snag to me, I use to mess up, but you have clearly explain how to use them from start to finish... Thanks alot
Perfect timing! I was just starting to pick up drawing again after years in 'limbo'. I think charcoal gives a much better result in values rather than led pencils which I'm used to. I tried to make a self portait using charcoal, which wasn't half-bad. But I made some beginner mistakes, and this tutorial helped me a lot. Especially about smoothing out lighter areas. Gonna try this on my next drawing.
Thank you! :-)
Kirsty I love this drawing, very well done, great video sweetheart 🥰😘
Hi kirsty I love your vids sending lots of love and i think that their will be a lot more paths for you as an artist 🥰
Wow! I will try this. Thank you
These help me and my drawings so much (even though I do graphite😂)
On my CZcams channel I gave away a flower drawing but I want to try drawing flowers again after these helpful tips!🤞😁
Beautiful job
Really beautiful
😍 love it
Thank you so much Miss 🙏👌
Soooooo helpfull👍🏼❤️
Do you use a fixative finishing spray to spray your drawing when you complete? If so, which would you recommend?
You're amazing, you are. You're about to make me think I can do that.
Good information...👍🏻
Good tutorial 🙏☺️👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Beautiful
Kirtsty can you do a video about more cheaper art materials and how they work for beginners.
Beautiful^^
helpful and learning...
Thank you so much Mam ❤
Thank You.
For the contour outline sketch before placing charcoal can I use regular pencil lightly or which type of b charcoal grade to produce light sketch?
I love u kirsty, have you ever talked about paper in general? Expecially paper for color pencils
Fakename Fakesurname nice videos
awesome
I was always taught that with charcoal, you should start with the lighter values, since you can always darken, but can't really lighten. So is there a specific reason that you started with the dark first?
You use dark first so that you use it as a reference to the lighter values. If you do light first, you might make some shadows darker than what they should be.
Very nice
Wow!
Can you please tell me what camera you use to make your videos? I have learned so much from you!
Do you use any fixatives for your charcoal works? (Thanks for your channel!! )
Hi Kirsty, what's the best paper to use with charcoal? I've tried on drawing paper but it seems to be too toothy for the charcoal?
Beautiful.
Do you use fixative later or not?
Great
😍 😍
Very nice tips and tutorial. :) I have always had problems with drawing with charcoal, it's my least favorite medium.
Where do I get the reference for this?
Do you do the initial drawing in charcoal as well? I would like to see that process included.
😍😍😍
Kirsty can you do a portrait using Faber Castell classic colored pencils because they're really cheap and can't afford to buy Caran D'ache pencils yet.
Btw, all your works are just freaking good
Yeah and I have only got 12 polychromos
I love to draw with charcoal but doing outline with grid method is kind of less enjoyable than shading. So can you suggest quick method for doing outline
Beautiffull...
Where to get the fine eraser
♥♥♥
Is a kneaded eraser the same as using blutack
I want to sign up some courses online but want to know if the videos have closing captioned?? I’m deaf thanks
When the drawing looks better than the photo 🤷🏽♀️
This is great. But it's really more like coloring with charcoals as your filling in your traced image. Still helpful and I must say, you are smokin hawt! And that accent! Owow! I could listen to you talk all day.
What is this pencil name .
why use tissue instead of a chamois?
I am amzed your block and pencil are the same kind of black... how?
What if I have a smooth paper??
It can work but the Caracol cant stick to it really well
I love Kirsty's tutorials but I'm sticking( no pun intended) w/Watercolor paper for Charcoal drawings bcuz it sticks to it better..
Smooth won't work for charcoal
Halo 🤓
Hello, my name is Fay, I'm from Indonesia, can you provide a translation into Indonesian, I'm having a hard time understanding what you're saying, thanks , glad to comment here, have a nice day
Very nice video..#creativeartlearner
Can I clean my dirty blending stump somehow or do I need to buy new ones everytime? Because also the tip isn’t as pointy as it was beforehand.
Try sharpened it with a sharpener or cutter
If you blow off the dust spit can fly and that’s baaaad.
